I was always afraid of being hated,
afriad of people making fun of who I was,
so I hid behind a caked on mask-
a mask to hide my unwanted reality.
But now I can look straight ahead & say,
This is who I am; take it or leave it.
I wasn't put here to get your approval,
or make sure you're in love with me;
I don't have to worry about being liked,

happiness can easily be achieved.

I'm a girl who cares too much,
someone who doesn't let go,
I'll keep my grasp completly firm,
until my hands cant take anymore;
and I end up flat on my face,
with nowhere in the world to go.
[I'm the person you look down upon,
because she likes the same sex,
and she's not ashamed to admit it;
I'm not going to hide who I am anymore,
just because its not how society lives;

I tend to cry more than I should,
and I don't laugh nearly as much.
My heart is barely ever whole
and most of the time Im far from lost.
Yet I still put [broken] love into others,
trying to make sure they are okay.
All though emotions take over,
I still know how to have some fun,
how to smile and how to laugh,
how to live and how to love.
Someday everythings going to be okay,
even through all the pain.

Even if that means holding myself,
as my chest rips with sobs and bones shake;
Because life is something that is all yours,
and it's only up to you as to how it goes.

Brian Balzer : Hello, on October 4I landed on your page by what I call "poet hopping". I like to click randomly poets who have commented and then follow each comment to a new poet and in turn to their poetry. I usually don't take the time to read the homepages but yours caught my attention. I was curious if you have a title to the poem on your page? It is a wonderful summary of who you are. I think it's fantastic that you don't feel ashamed of who you are. You shouldn't need to. Many will look down upon you for your preference but their opinion isn't worth having. I look forward to reading more of your poetry. I'm sure to find it interesting.
