An asthmatic old poet named wheezy
Found the writing of poetry easy
She liked rhythm and rhyme
For most of the time
And with humour more cheesy than sleazy.
...............
I found the following as part of the foreword in a book of poetry I borrowed from my local library. (The format is my own)
Poetry is for reading,
And for sharing some of the time,
And a lot of it needs to be
Shouted aloud in order to be enjoyed.
Other poems are for quieter moments.
Poetry tells a story,
Explains a situation,
Gives vent to feelings,
But above all
It is a celebration of language.
