Update: As of Monday, February 25th, 2008 - I will be residing in the arctic circle.  We have internet...I will try to stay active.  My gold membership might expire, but I'll renew it when I can.

Geological definition of volcaniclastic: a clastic fragment composed of volcanic materials.

Why do I like that word so much?  Because it sounds an awful lot like the word 'fantastic' - maybe it's secretly even a fantastic rock.  I'm not fantastic, I'm volcaniclastic!

So, in light of that random bit of oddity, I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself.  I mean, you ARE using your valuable time to visit me and my poetry, after all. 

No, no, I insist.  Really.

I'm a geologist (well, almost) - I love to play with rocks. Rocks rock.  Actually, I'm a HUGE fan of bad geology puns.  I have this shirt that says 'gneiss cleavage'...but I guess that's another story.

What do I do for fun, you ask? - kayaking, canoing, snowshoeing, hiking, camping, climbing, biking, creek scrambling, you name it.  I've gone white-water rafting, skylining, and parasailing - and I'm totally looking forward to skydiving sometime in the future. 

On the slower side of things, I love to draw, write, and read - I can't stress 'read' enough, either.  I currently have 6 bookshelves full of books, and I think I've read at least half my local library.  I like to make little crafty things, dreamcatchers, bracelets, that kind of stuff.  Cuddling under the covers is definitely a personal favourite, but usually only lasts until we wake up.

I'm very motivated.  I'm like the energizer bunny on speed - I always long for simple, quiet moments, and when I get them, I feel the need to go, go, go.

So, in a nutshell, that's me!

Below: Never been so happy to see that helicopter in my entire life when I took that picture.  We were stuck up on the top of a mountain.  I've worked with helicopters quite a bit - that particular one in the picture is an A-star.

And now for some more random obscurities...

Some of the things I like:  My pets, soy ice cream, herbal tea, singing and dancing when no one is looking (and even when they are), getting tattoos and piercings, wiggling in bed, speaking other languages, rockin' out to country music.
