My cat
By hojadaro on July 5th 2009, the wee hours.on topic The cat
The cat was insistent he wanted to go out this morning ... I hesitated. Rain falling so hard it's bouncing several inches from the car roofs. Hammering out a drum beat on the windows. The cat yowls at me again ...doing the equivalent of a four legged crossing. I really need to go now
open the door and let me out! I open the door and remind him it was his choice. He flew out the door about 6 feet before he realised what the
weather was like. He ducked as if trying to avoid the rain drops before skittering and skattering as his paws failed to grip under the acceleration his body was trying to put down... eventually he started to move, shooting me a hard green eyed glare in the process, a black blur streaking over the gardens looking for somewhere convenient to stop to attend to business but preferably out of the rain. I know he'll come and cry at the window sill in a short while. It amazes me how a cat that size can squeeze himself onto the couple of inches that is the sill, and still be able to twist
himself to stand at full stretch against the window to yowl to come back in - like an opera singer in full flow we have a vision in black pressed
up against the window singing to us if the small latch window has been closed. I know he'll return with his head and shoulders dry and his back
and tail drenched. He's sixteen now and still has never learnt to tuck all his body under his point of shelter, we've often seen him with his head safely covered by a nearby car, with his tail left abandoned in a puddle. Funny cat.

the Black Cat
By thegoldenpen on July 8th 2009, mid-afternoon.on topic The cat
The black cat has shiny fur that sparkles in the moonlight
His eyes are two reflectors green
His tail is a compass
He hisses like a magtruck
Whenever he's annoyed
He'll arch is back like a rainbow
In agony or fear
The black cat is a spectre
A talisman for some
Bad luck for others for sure
To others he's an adorable pet.

cats
By Neha Sharma on July 9th 2009, lunch time.on topic The cat
the cat
brown and black
bright eyed
jumped from the top of my roof
into my balcony
and then purred
slowly
as if asking for company
and I got up to go
cause I never have time
for life
or life's creatred
be it cat or anything
I am so busy these days
that life itself has stopped asking me for time
hey now that I know that
I am straying from the topic
lets get back to the cat
that jumped in to my balcony
and purred
slowly
asking for some company
and some food may be
lets go and meet him
and say a little hi!
oh! no
He's gone
I get up
and yes, I can see a tail
right up there
hanging from the balcony above me
he's there
asking for some company
or some food may be
oh!
I hate cats!

mews
By etoilier on July 12th 2009, early evening.on topic The cat
she is perched in my window sill, between the wood and the screen. one floor above the earth, watching the uncertain scene below. i wonder if she knows the depth of life - or the molecules filling her nostrils - these keys clicking in the background. below the orange of the same breech mews. my griselle is listening attentively. i wonder whether all cat mew in mutually understandable tones? just now i say here name - Griselli - and her butt raises in excitement, most likely thinking about food, or fur, or hairball fun. she leaps forward off the sill and onto the green carpet...that same where i laid when i was 16 wondering so sadly at the days. have things improved? mostly surely and absurdly - ive gone from lost to found to still looking by choice.

Missing my Kitties
By FloridaGatorQueen on July 13th 2009, late at night.on topic The cat
Casey was the sweetest
cat there could be
Hobbes was human friendly
Shelby was the queen bee
But now all 3 are deceased
I miss them all in so
many different ways
I miss playing fetch
with Hobbes
I miss Casey sleeping with
me on my bed
I miss Shelby begging
for her favorite
Tuna juice
I wish I could see them again
That is what I got
pictures for
Rest in peace my babies

I loved this cat...taken to her immediately...her name divine..Ireland... She loved me... I loved her.. She was much like me... very independent...
She had beautiful eyes...a sweet personality...
She knew when I was sick... She comforted me...
She kept me sleepless with her middle of the night play... I really miss her...

Rambo
By CrazyP3ngwen on September 14th 2009, early afternoon.on topic The cat
Legs that go on forever.
Graceful strides, jumps.
Softness that is a comfort when ill or unhappy.
Curled up in the sunshine, lazy as can be.
Stretch, stretch, tired all the time.
Lightening fast early in the morning, a complete nuisance...
A howl means let me outside, give me attention, play with me, scratch under my chin please...
Paws that knead on your leg.
Motor-boat purrs.
Give me my FRISKIES.
Demanding creatures.
Black fur and green eyes, sharp teeth and a rough tongue.
Jumps on you when you sleep, that damn annoying cat...

My Cat
By Artsywoman1963 on October 11st 2009, mid-afternoon.on topic The cat
Zelda lies lovinly next to me and purrs, as I type away on my laptop. I feel her presence warm my soul. She has been with me thru everything good and bad. Cats are unique in their stoicism and they purr no matter what happens. I am touched by her amazing strength and her love for me. She sleeps with me every night and does not berate me for anything. Her sweet green eyes are soulful and beautiful. My Cat is my true love and more and more I seek the friendship of animals rather than people. I think that people have too much of a capacity for evil and the more I read, I realize they are not to be trusted. But, a Cat is the answer to loneliness and grief.
