Where do I begin...I'm a sophomore in college, mildly obsessed with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and late night conversations. I connected Alice Lidell to Oscar Wilde playing six degrees of separation (Alice Liddell -> Charles Dodgson (Lewis Caroll) -> George MacDonald -> G.K. Chesterson -> Oscar Wilde.) This is what I do late at night...
I'm fascinated by old things...clothes, music, films - the 60s in particular, not so much the Hippie 60s but more the Cherbourg 60s. Some of my favorite musicians include but are definitely not limited to...Ella Fitzergald, She & Him, The Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie, Andrew Bird, Radiohead, The Zombies, The Vogues, The Shirelles, Rilo Kiley and of cooourse The Beatles. She & Him is the kind of thing I'm listening to on repeat these days...and playing on the guitar and singing on over and over...I recently learned the solo that's in "Black Hole," it was maybe the most exciting thing that's happened to me since school started along with learning the 12 bar blues.

Movies, movies. I like many different kinds...some guilty pleasures include The Mummy and National Treasure, some I favorites include Roman Holiday, L'atalante, 10 Things I Hate About You, Role Models, Way Down East, Sherlock Jr, and my new favorite for the time being: The Lady Eve. I also have a four page list of things I need to se hanging on the wall... so that's that I suppose.

I'm a huge fan of traveling and going on adventures, of any kind really. I'm planning on exploring a bit of Eastern Europe this summer if I can. I love thunderstorms and also am a fan of old maps. My dorm common room is covered in them, it's kind of amazing. One day I'd like to learn how to sail a tall ship ...and as choppy and disjointed this description may seem, I think it sums me up pretty well.
As for poetry, I'm a fan and not a fan. It's difficult for me to ever be satisfied with anything I write, but I have some friends who are very talented so that's pretty awesome...
What I really love to read is fiction and fantasy, although I enjoy the occasional memoir or non-fiction novel

You are what you love, and not what loves you back.

"An adventure is only an inconvenience considered the right way, and an inconvenience is an adventure considered the wrong way."
-G.K. Chesterton

"Our worst fears lie in anticipation." -Madmen

"I could tell you of my adventures - beginning from this morning," said Alice a little timidly; "but it's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then."

“Once in a while it really hits people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way they have been told to.”
- Alan Keightley

“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”
- Robert Louis Stevenson

My mind keeps spinning closer and closer to the rain on the roof and the rain in my head

When a man publishes a book, there are so many stupid things said that he declares he'll never do it again. The praise is almost always worse than the criticism.
- Sherwood Anderson

"Oh, how I wish I could shut up like a telescope! I think I could, if I only knew how to begin." - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

That's the essential goal of the writer: you slice out a piece of yourself and slap it down on the desk in front of you. You try to put it on paper, try to describe it in a way that the reader can see and feel and touch. You paste all your nerve endings into it and then give it out to strangers who don't know you or understand you. And you will feel everything that happens to that story -- if they like it, if they hate it. Because no matter how you try to distance yourself from it, to some degree you feel that if they hate it, they hate you.
Which isn't the truth, you understand. At least you understand that in your head...but not always in your heart.
- Stephen Leigh

Love all. Trust Few. Do wrong to no one.
- William Shakespeare

if you're a bird, i'm a bird

I was never no, never no, never enough, but I can try, I can try to toughen up.
