Poetry to me is a means to express myself. I feel better if I am bothered by something if I can get it onto "paper" or my computer screen. Having written it it seems to be out of my system or at least down so I can ponder it. I find it easiest to write when I am sad, but can, on occasion write happy stuff. Words sometimes come easy and those are the best ones.
Any photographs I post are ones I have taken.
I look forward to getting to know the other poets on this site.
One thing that disturbs me is how it seems like the younger poets write of bleak, hopeless, and dark things, many times. I was moved to write a poem about why I think that is. It's called "Just Waiting". I hope it makes sense to people that read it.
Well I wish everyone productive muses and the best. Write on...

Daily Affirmations: (Always growing as I write them)
Healing
We let the darkness in
to play with our being
We let it permeate
our soul
and our body
It keeps us from being in harmony
with our physical being
Today, I choose to stop
feeding the dark emotions
By recognizing that they are there
and I must express them
to be free
As I breath in life
my well being soars
and I can be healed...
Seek Out The Light
What a price
to feed my fears with worry?
How much better it is
to seek out the light?
To let positive energy
bath my very existence
By reaching upward
I can face anything
do anything
be anything
and my worries will
fall one by one
Surely as I breath in
The Light of light…
Perceptions
The hands of time
are like the hands of a sculptor
changing and shaping our memories.
Giving us perceptions of the past
that become our realities
__
One of my favorite sayings
Oh the comfort
the inexpressable comfort
of feeling safe with someone.
Having neither to weigh thoughts
nor measure word,
But pouring them all right out
chaff and grain together.
Certain that some kind hand
will take and sift them.
Keep what is worth keeping
and then, with a breath of kindness,
Blow the rest away.

Quotes I like:
When you change the way to look at things, you change the things at which you look.
Don't die with your music still inside you.
When trying to help a friend, be very careful when tearing down their fences, until you find out why they built up the fences in their lives.

pattyann4500 on October 30, 2006I'm glad to see you getting on AP a little more often. I guess this time of year you'll be quite busy with your carving and getting ready for all the holidays. I do hope you'll continue to drop by occasionally. Good to see you! Hugs, Patricia
