My name is Mary Aris. I have been writing poetry ever since
I was in 2nd grade! I have written two recent poems in honor of
the World Trade Center attacks in memory of the victims which
have been published in the local paper, "Fire in the Sky", and
"Phoenix Rising".
Most of my poetry are about love but I also write about seasons,
ballads, spirituality and philosophy. While in high school I
took a course in poetry writing for a year. This class taught
me how to write poetry in the correct format. Poetry, according
to me is like a photograph to use a metaphore. The poet, like
the photographer, must know the correct words to convey the
ideas that will make her poem a masterpeice.
I live in Southern England with my husband. My husband, Alexander,is also a poet. We have dedicated many poems to one another...just like
Elizabeth Browning and her husband, Robert wrote for one another.
I have a book of poetry published by Lulu.com. My book is entitled, 'Melodies of the Heart' ISBN: 978-1409219583

I sit in Heaven with a golden pen,
On a gilded cloud floating in an azure sky,
Listening to my heart sing now and again,
Lovely songs and melodies as time goes by.
I record every note and rhyme
Upon my pearly notebook with painstaking care...
Taking down every lyric, musical note and keep time
Hoping that soon my book of songs be ready to share
With a multitude of heaven singing my Canticle
With Violins and harps of gold
Reaching down to one and every soul
Renewing spirits young and old!
The Goldenpen
G olden pen in hand, I write
O lden lyrics and ancient rhymes
L oving tales in verse that through day and night
E ndlessly turn the page
D elightfully told by the silent muse within
E nchantingly refreshing
N icely written and preserved age upon golden age!
Pen in hand in gilded ink by candlelight
E nchanted by the Muse's wine
N icely weave my tapestry of verse and rhyme
My craft as my name entails
Is engraved upon life's canvess heart
It is my duty to let poetry prevail...
This aged craft of literary art!
