Thanks, glad someone else likes it too! Yeah, I am into all older music, newer stuff doesn't do it for me, you're welcome for the comment! Yeah, I just met Ankita the other day, I have to reply her... Yeah, I don't think Young tours with them much anymore, clashes between him and Stills I think, too bad, I like his solo stuff too. I would love to see them live, I have 4 Way Street, their live album. Anyway, thanks for commenting and everything!

    Ben,

I know P. She's recommended a fun commercial Indian movie to you. 'Hum Tum' was different. If you like colorful movies, I would suggest 'Monsoon Wedding' (series of random events...an indian wedding, basically) and 'American Desi' (funny and true) for you. Another Indian movie that I watched recently is 'Mr and Mrs Iyer' (very well directed, based on an innocent relationship..)

Well, I am an ardent movie buff, so I could suggest some good movies if you tell me more about what you like. Do u have an MSN or Yahoo ID?? Maybe we could chat online then. I could maybe give you a 'brief' on some movies and you could decide which one to watch!

I noticed that we both tend to sketch each character and bring out emotions...!

    Ciao

That is a great goal! I hope you can succeed, yeah, I guess that is a bit different than mine, it is great to hear about someone else's specific plan! You will do well I am sure, you know what you want to do in terms of a style! There are similarities though, your goal of conveying real emotion is very similar, because I am I guess not as interested in reality in my subject matter, but I want to present love, friendship and emotion with proper respect and reality, I want the characters to be real, I want the audience to understand them them and really root for their success and sympathize when they are down. Bringing an emotional response is great, it is rare nowadays for me to be really touched by a movie, I hope you can succeed, most times scenes that are meant to be touching seem a bit contrived lately, please succeed!

Oh, forgot to say what I like to watch, I like British comedies a lot, I like older action movies like older James Bond or the old Star Wars, I like most kinds of movies, I don't know, I tend to like slightly older films more, I am not a big fan of overdone visual effects usually, at least when it comes at the expense of a good story or characters. Maybe it's weird, I guess, but I like it when there are characters talking, not just running around all the time. I guess I like colorful movies, which are balanced evenly between nonverbal events and verbal events, if that makes sense. I like movies that are fun to watch, I don't like being depressed at the theatre, I don't mind being saddened because of something happening to the characters, but I don't really like depressing subject matter in movies, like drugs or something.

You know Porchi right? (p on AP) Cool! She recommended an Indian movie to me, which I haven't gotten to watch yet, "Hum Tum" but I have it, so I am going to watch it soon, maybe you have seen it.

Alright, well, good luck with deciding, if it has always been your passion, then I hope you pursue it, I think there is a great need for more real creative energy in the movies, it's getting so commercial these days... Well, if you do choose to pursue it, I would be happy to help if I can, LOL, I don't know how exactly, but really I would, I know what it is like to be unsure if it would be worth it to pursue it because of how the industry is.

    Ben,
I appreciate your style, though yours is pretty different from mine.

I am interested in showing harsh realities in movies, emphasizing on each character and their relationships. I want to bring out different cultures in my movies, and possibly give the world a different outlook - the world through my eyes...The real emotions of love, friendship, sadness, loss, and touch people's hearts in every possible way, and I want to make films on those whos' voices are seldom heard...

I want to capture more than a motion film in the camera - each moment, each emotion, and each character...

Well, I sure look forward to watching your movies one day, and don't mind the whole lot of blabber I just "blabbered"

I definitely want to write and direct comedy of sorts, I want to write original movies. I have a specific sort of style or something that I ideally want to accomplish. I really like fun and interesting characters and stories, so I want to blend that with humor and make movies that are goofy but have something people can relate to and have fun watching. Also, they will probably all be sort of adventures, not really real life events.

I guess I don't really want to write comedy that is funny because of lines, but because the audience understands the characters and the situation, I want the story and characters to be interesting and fun whether or not the audience thinks it is funny, I want the characters to be believable, so even though it is a comedy, there can be serious elements as well.

I have some more idealistic things I want to accomplish too, like showing love and friendship in a more real way than many movies, so that it is not cheapened, and I want the movies to in some way possibly give people hope and make them happier.

Well, that is what I want to do, whether or not I can do it well or not, I don't know, but I hope I can, I want to make movies that people will enjoy watching, and I want to make movies that are new and different, and I want them to be well done. I hope I can succeed.

Anyway, geez that is a long and confusing thing, I hope you can sort it out, what kind of movies do you want to make?
  • Ankita DG on January 10, 2006
    Ben,
It's a great decision you've made, and I am still thinking about it. Filming, writing and directing have always been my passion...So would love to know about what kind of movies you like to watch or make.

    Ciao

Hi, that is cool, you want to write and direct? That is great, nobody ever wants to write, so far I have met 4 people lately, including you and people at college here who want to write. I'm going to Montana State University in Bozeman, 1st year! Anyway, that is great that you want to go into film too! Well, I don't know exactly what advice I can give you, I'm not really in yet either, heh, just starting my college career for it, but basically, I would say just do it, that's what I've done, just make movies with a video camera or whatever and have fun with it and learn whenever you can about it. As far as succeeding, I hope I can too, I have an idea of the type of thing I want to do, but yeah, it is hard to get to be a director and all that, I don't want to end up on "page 3" as you say either, but that is a place to start, and I think most people start at the bottom and work up from there. Yeah, I was unsure at first whether I wanted to do it or not for the same reason, but after making a movie over the summer, I decided that it was really what I wanted to do. If you want to do it, don't give up! Heh, great to meet somebody else into it, ha, this is a good thing for the industry too, networking! Alright, well yeah, see you around here, yep.

OMG. You like writing and directing too!! I want to pursue a career in film making. Which university are you doing your majors from? And, it would be really helpful if you could tell me how to go about it. I always back out from my dream of making films as a profession, because it is extremely difficult to prove oneself in such an industry, and also because half-the-time, you are on Page 3 if you make it to the film industry.

    See you around on AP

No, I'm an American, but I have friends on here from India, why did you think I might be Bengali? You are new here, I looked at your page, you will soon be sucked in! Anyway, welcome!
  • on December 30, 2005
    are you bengali or something?
  • Quill on December 20, 2005

Cool! Good, glad I'm not totally nuts then, you like old rock too? I have been listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young a lot lately, don't know if you like them, but yep, they've been my favorites lately. It always changes though, but I am not up to date or always fond of modern rock, I love the somewhat lighter late 60's stuff mostly (though I do like Jimi and Janis, they're a bit harder), and of course old Rock and Roll and Blues are fun! What are you into mostly?

I think I was reviewing a poem of yours last night that I liked, but I had to type a paper and I never finished before I had to sleep, I'll have to get back to that.

Ahh! I highly approve of your music taste!

Hey, thanks! Glad you listened to it and hope it annoyed you! No, really, it's a pretty goofy song, but I'm glad you were able to get to it and everything, thanks for the feedback.
  • point and laugh on December 2, 2005
hey i just saw your website thanks for sharing your song! lol!
  • tootsvegan on November 17, 2005
Yeah, no, thank you for responding and everything. I'm taking a look at your stuff right now! No really, I am, but I should probably be going to bed soon, it's about 1:00 AM right now, weird time zone things.

Wow, yeah, I didn't even realize that it was almost the anniversary of when I joined! I think part of that time I was pretty inactive on the site, I just signed up a long time ago, but really I just got into it this year. You've commented on way more things than me, so really I probably haven't been active for as long as you have been.

Anyway, yeah, this is a cool site, I love that I can talk to people from all over the world. Anyway, hope you're having a good time doing whatever you are doing, and thanks for responding, great to meet a fellow idealist.

Cool, I think I've heard of Clarence Williams, but I don't know if I've heard him play, I'll have to look into it. The old blues guys were cool.

I like all kinds of old stuff too, yeah.

I am currently in a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young phase, don't know if you like them, they're a bit different and took a while to grow on me, but I like them now, a bit more folk rock. Late 60's stuff.

I really like what I have read of your poetry so far, you seem to go through many of the same things I have gone through in my own mind. That's weird. Anyway, yeah, thought your page was interesting and I'll be sure to read more of your poetry and stuff in the future, yeah, please message again if you've got the time.

Thanks a lot, glad you liked "Brian," it's intended as a song, it's kind of a goofy one. That's more my normal style, I was just messing around with the free verse lately, but I don't really like it.
  • tootsvegan on September 18, 2005
Ah, thanks. Thanks for reading and everything, um, if you liked these I'd like to suggest you read some of my "older" ones, because they are written in my real style, I was just kind experimenting with the free verse thing. They will give a better impression of me, as well. Thanks for reading and everything.

    You rock my world.
  • BrOkEnPrOmIsEs007 on September 17, 2005
Your poems are very inspiring and they make me take a second look in things. Good writings, and keep it up. These are excellent and wonderful. I had fun reading them, my favorite poem is Brain, i guess its because of the accent you used.

Hi. I just came by to apologize... I'm sorry if I sounded all condescending and arrogant and brutish in my previous im. I was just very hot-headed earlier today and, well, current frustrations compounded and conspired and eventually, and most unfortunately, imploded at an inopportune time (for both of us). I hope you don't take it against me, the things I've said. And, well, I don't also like leaving things in a heated half-baked finish. So, I'm really sorry if I hurt your feelings or anything.
