grannyeri on March 13, 2006Enjoyed reading your page - I too am a 60's teen, but did not get into the drug culture of that time - my first 45 was a Dave Clark 5 song, and I faithfully collected all the Beatle 45's when they came out, later getting the LPs. Now my grandkids buy DVD's - different time, different generation, different music.

astralshepherd on November 24, 2004Thanks for stopping by my site, I dont remember the 60's...
tooooo many parties in Isla Vista, just outside UCSB.
But that was then and this is now and, darn it, too much of the current world and social climate looks like it did "back then" only now it seems more frightening. I used to be really religous. said all the right things, did all the right things and condemned all who didn’t believe. Spoke fluent “christanese” and lived safely confined within the stained glass ghetto. then i got real…pastoral spiritual abuse haelped me break free of my addiction to being needed and having all the anseres. I gave up pastoring, stopped worship leading, and sat down and reexamined what it was that God wanted of me and what it was that I thought God wanted of me. I found an amaing freedom and acceptance and the relationship deepened to depths i could never have imagined before. I still play my Taylor, but now its personal. I really like your aouthor page and look forward to seeing more of your work. blessings and best wishes, ~richard

YerTweetyness on November 19, 2004I try to visit poets who come my way.
I absolutely enjoyed reading your short autobiography.
Your photo reminds me of my 2 brothers. They to have all
kinds of musical instruments. One brother DJ's The other
plays music in clubs. Once upon a time, when we were
getting along, They use to play for me. I love music.

BonnieQ on September 29, 2004What a delight, dear one, to simply scan your Author Page. Voila! I found the most beautiful poem written for your wedding day. I feel so certain that there could not have been a dry eye among any of the guests but more especially your wife. It is not often we women get poetry written just for us. And, if I were a betting person, I'd wager that you still write poetry to her.
Just thought I'd stop by for a short visit before hitting the bed. I'm so exhausted and, silly me, I'm still up and it's 12:20 in the morning. LOL!
Love and hugs, BonnieQ

Keith on August 14, 2004This is an excellent page. Thanks for commenting on my work. I like the Robert Frost poem you have included. Although people might accuse me of being purely a Scottophile in my poetic tastes (Burns, MacDiarmid, William Soutar) I think that Frost is one of the true poetic greats. Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening always sends shivers down my spine:
These woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep
Here's a Scottish proverb for ye
It's no' whit we hae, but whit we dae wi' whit we hae, that counts in heaven
Best of Luck in your life. -
Goss98 on August 9, 2004I read your author page, I liked how you describe yourself as a former "poetry fundamentalist", and how God "pooper-scoopered" you out. It was an interesting read! God Bless YOU!
-
Kethry on July 30, 2004I can't believe you not only read so many of my poems but that you also commented with discernment and style. I could applaud all your comments but I am intrigued and so I am going to return the favour by reading and commenting on as many of yours as I can. If you are half as good as I believe you are we could be kindred spirits in our writing.

shanman7 on June 12, 2004I really like the Barber story Gazzelle, it really drives home the point were trying to make here. :-)
Hey, please let me know what you think of my poem that I wrote "Standing at the Gate" for the VA hospital group.
allpoetry.com/Poem/663170
Does it sounds to preachy? It is to long? Just want your opinion my friend.
Thanks,
Shannon O' Ferrell :-) -
Kemp on June 11, 2004I appreciate you're comments on my poetry. You seem to have a diverse knowledge of almost everything!
Most of the poetry I write will be made into songs for my band, so any critiscism you can make is welcome, as I'm only 17 and an experienced view is more than appreciated. -
theGazzelle on June 11, 2004Here is the poem I wrote for my wedding:
Altar Call
My heart is built for loving;
My love designed for two.
My soul is made for sharing,
My life is planned for you.
Joy and trouble, sun and rain,
All these things the heart endures.
So many things that I desire,
But all I need is to be yours.
Here - in the presence of my family,
Here - in the presence of my friends,
Here - before God and all His angels,
I pledge my love to you till my life ends.

dittysri on June 9, 2004Here's one you might enjoy. Started to enter it in your last contest but since I didn't write it that wouldn't have been right, however I do want you to read it. At your leisure: AP Poem #535902. Wish I could send the tune also but I neither read nor write music. jean

Zeke Thorne on May 10, 2004Words from a fellow musician always brighten my day...thank you very much for reading my work and more, for intelligently commenting on the pieces you read. I will get to reading your work (returning the favour as the site says) but in the meantime I just wanted to express my gratitude...and my surprise at finding someone who actually knows of the Pat Metheny Group (he's an acquaintance of my dad's, and that's the only reason i have any idea who he is!). Thanks again, and I look forward to checking out your stuff. Good for you for getting through tough times; at the end of the day that's what rock and roll is about (to my mind at least).
most sincerely

Molassis on May 6, 2004Hey, I read your request for co judges for a contest. I commented on it and have been thinking... If you will, please check out my poem titled God's Dove. It might be one that you could use where your wife works. You'd have to go to like my third page of poems to get to it but I think it might be worth taking a look at. What you are doing is so admirable and awesome. God bless you. ~Melissa

tranquil one on May 2, 2004It's funny my daughters don't even know the beatles by name unless I explain it to them. Somewhere in my house I have 3 of their early albums Capital Records and Vijay. Well I only have the cover for 1 someone barrowed the vinyl and didn't return it years ago. I read your history above, and mine differs somewhat, but with a common addictive personality. Jesus pulled my fat from the fire 25 years ago.

theGazzelle on May 1, 2004Thanx so mch for taking the time to read Elijah and for the applause. My s.o.p. when checking out a poet with as many posts as you (or anything over 30 or 40) I go right to the earliest post and work my way backward. That's how I found your gramma poem. I would be so bold as to ask you to pick out a couple dozen or so of your favorite works, stuff that you're REALLY proud of, and tell me the titles, so I won't spend the next 36 hours fasting in front of the screen. I don't know much about creating links to poems myself; maybe there's an easier way for you to direct me.

theGazzelle on April 30, 2004Ya think?? I have instructions for "Ripple" and "Brokedown Palace" to be played at my funeral. Got the idea from my former mother-in-law who requests that "Box of Rain" be played at hers.
I got extra insurance on my Beatles collection...so bring a baggy parka, and stay for tea. If you're willing to give me your email addy, I can send you jpegs of my museum.
Your "Modest Proposal" quote sounds more like Monty Python, and now I have a better sense of Monty's influences.
Appreciate your support. -
ferg on April 30, 2004Greetings. Ran across one of your comments and was intrigued by your words, which led me to your home page her at AP. Do lie your spin on life (including your inability to detach from your own irreverence. Do have to dash here, work awaits but will return to read some of your work. FYI I too am a musician (songwriter) enamored with the Beatles (thought I'd discovered a new religion when I first heard them.)As Arnold says...Ahl be back!

kvwriter on April 30, 2004Thank you for reading so many pieces of my work, in one go! That's never happened before. You might be setting new standards around here. Now, I've got my work cut out for me, I can see. LOL! Make it a good day! Didn't sleep at all. Ugh! But, well, it's all in the attitude, right?--Kel

hello gazelle,
wanted to stop by and thank you...and bookmark your page for future reading. i am amazed that you took the time to read and comment on so many of my pieces. don't think anyone has done that as yet. i apologise for not getting back to you earlier...my dsl has been down for much of the day (perhaps due to our high winds?). didn't want you to think that i don't appreciate your attention. i do. also enjoyed reading your bio (some similarities there...especially the beatles). i look forward to reading your work, but unfortunately, this will have to wait a bit. am in the process of moving...quite a task for someone with "disabilities". as soon as i am settled, i look forward to treating myself to an evening of reading your work.
take care,
~liz
