I don't know if I would ever attempt to write a childrens book, but it might be interesting. I haven't ever really been one to put up walls around possible projects that might actually be worth it.
This talk has been fun.

sxyvxn3779 on August 16, 2005depending on how and what is written...
-
sxyvxn3779 on August 16, 2005i agree. great thoughts. i also think that it might help them deal with fear better. perhaps they might even come to understand fear better.

I have always thought a scary childrens book would be an interesting idea, something that doesn't hold back on the fear and terror, but maybe on the gore and violence. I think horror films recently have proven that there is a market for fear that isn't adult. Look at movies like "The Ring" and "Dark Water", both have creepy vibes, but they're not entirely scary, well maybe the first, but the second was just a dramatic type of creepy.
I would love to see a book where fear is the main center, something we all experience, giving younger people a taste of literature that has a mix of dramatic elements, but that isn't too overly complex for the age group it would be centered on. "Harry Potter" is more of an entertaining style of horror/fantasy. What I am speaking of is a "Nightmare Before Christmas" type of horror/fantasy childrens novel or short story book.
We shouldn't shadow children from everything and if the story was well-written and engaging it might actually allow them to be able to read more advanced books, helping younger people to learn to read and find enjoyment in it.

sxyvxn3779 on August 16, 2005lol... yeah i know how that is... but it's not too hard for me to be fluffy and sweet... (i do have the best inspiration... lol)
you know, a scary children's book is a good idea... -

I'll have to check those books out. I just think my imagination likes to take too many turns with the brutality of living when I try to write in a more "innocent" and "positive" manner.
I think I could write something that was a scary childrens book, but anything too "happy" wouldn't work right.

-
sxyvxn3779 on August 15, 2005lol... hmm... adult children's book... fascinating, indeed... of course, you know... i had help from a few children... (so i cheated... lol...) two are completed so far... the books are titled Once Upon a Beastie and Once Upon a Beastie II @ www.lulu.com/theDark

Well believe it or not , I also at one point tried to put together a childens series...Of course , Mine didn't do so well and I ended up making it too adult...LOL. I am cursed with a savage tongue and I always want to make things personal. There is more purpose in it to me I guess. I do hope it goes well for you though. Inform me when it's together and I might buy one.
