The Uranium Whale on July 5, 2006I actually just got your reply (I should learn to check messages more often).
And. Um. Thanks. I don't think I've ever made anyone feel better about the world before.
-
The Uranium Whale on June 26, 2006I was in science class.
We were learning about elements.
I wasn't paying attention, because I don't like science class.
So I drew a picture of a whale with a grenade strapped to it's fin.
I named him the Uranium Whale.
It's not really about us bombing Japan, it's just kind of stating that every living creature is a bit radioactive.
I also went through a faze where I was creating characters and alternate identities, so The Uranium Whale became mine. -

oneluckygirl on June 19, 2006I'm most grateful for your comment on 'I Once Rejoiced' as it led me to take a long enjoyable tour through your comments. In the AP world, it is too often the case that readers give little time to reflect on the impact of words. You are a breath of fresh air not only in your somewhat different approach to words as a tool of art but also in the resources of knowledge and philosophy you bring to your comments. WELCOME!
I would like to invite you to consider joining a group which is dedicated to learning and active in depth commenting. The Winklers has many members from different backgrounds and levels of expertise but I think you would find many in the group more serious about their writing than the average member of AP in general. If you're interested, I'd be glad to send you links that would give you a better idea of what we're about.

Child of Water on April 25, 2006First of all I must say I love that hat!!!!
Secondly almost every poem of yours I read has a profound effect on me....I get the sick feeling in my stomach...that's ment as a compliment..lol....It means my spirit has been jolted a little...and that is always welcome in a world of desensitation. -
stop drop and roll on April 4, 2006You are a pottery teacher?! Pottery is one of my artistic trades of choice. 'Siddhartha' used to be my favorite book. I think it is still in the running along with 'Even Cowgirls Get the Blues'.
“Slowly, like moisture entering the dying tree trunk, slowly filling and rotting it, so did the world and inertia creep into Siddhartha’s soul; it slowly filled his soul, made it heavy, made it tired, sent it to sleep”
And by the way, I love your hat! laughing All's well that ends well, rightie-o-boy!
Anyway here is a random quote I am putting on your page.
~"Playfulness ceases to have a serious purpose when it takes itself too seriously."
~ 'Even Cowgirls get The Blues'~ Tom Robbins
