Will you read, "Never Tell".. please
  • itllnever on April 15, 2006
OK, I will explain using this sonnet. It's really very simple:
You look @ the last words in each line to determine what a poem is using abab...etc. Here I have
through - (a) this one would start it now listen to the sounds!
    of - b
    knew - (a)
    love - b
    See the 1st and 3rd lines rhyme as (a & a)
and the 2nd and 4th rhyme as (b & b . So the first stanza is abab!

So now you will look at this sonnet as: abab cdcd efef gg
(notice the letters change as the rhyming words change.)
    GET IT?

    © Wind-Swept Tears (Shakespearian Sonnet #11)

    Written in Iambic Octameter.

    Translucent bottled prisms through a
these eyes do find confessions of, b
pursuing guilty minds we knew a
and be renewed a tattered love. b

Because our dreams found at this time c
a Tragedy of lost desire, d
the wind-swept tears are really mine c
and maybe then restart the fire. d

As if it’s stolen once by thieves e
was then a hope for future bliss, f
I know that she sometimes believes e
in such a wondrous love as this. f

Those wind-swept tears that come this way, g
are found to then just drift away. g
