PS. I was inspired to write you a little poem as well, but did not yet note it in big long comment. Here it is: allpoetry.com/Poem/2281443

(Yea, pretty freaky. . . while I was writing this stuff in the computer lab in Waterfront Villa, my new pad, we all suddenly got kicked out of the lab because a whole group of screaming idiots chose the room for a shouting match at 2:30 in the morning. It was pretty scary -- almost a fight -- really angry shouting and the security guard received complaints, the jerks wouldn't leave, so he phoned the cops. I didn't stick around after that.)

    Dear Sarah,

Revived I feel by your sweet voice. If you were trying to make me bloody well cry you did it you evil creative beautiful witch. I mean that, not to insult, for there are many kind witches, such as that witch of the North who’s mentioned for like two seconds in Wizard of Oz. You are like that white witch who owns the moon o’ nights, leads readers to drink big words and awesome images. Whose voice is the voice of love, of appreciation, of all those reasons which are admirable and truly wonderful about you. It is inspirational to watch your talent go, to watch you let go and write with words which show your pidgin, your character -- unstoppable inertia. Write your stomach out, then feast words some more. Read. Read on and read with all your heart and play your piano, and write and sing and be that artistic dream that God put on this earth to share with His mankind. You. Yes, you. Do it because you want to. Because you love it. Because it’s your hobby and your entertainment and it kills philosophy and stuffs it in a can with hah, I don’t need you I got my happiness take that so there label. You, you Sarah Bestvater, are an artist. This is your gift. You are a writer and a musician. In those quiet moments. In those courtrooms and class rooms, in law or whatever you do, speak from that eternal and massive barbaric “YALP!” which boils inside you and whistles like a tea kettle, a conversation at a table, coffee words -- caffeine.

I've heard it said, "A man is a boy who is old enough to ask: 'Am I a man?'"

In the same way, that young woman who says I have discovered that I love to write, that has questioned: should I pursue a career in writing and music? Who yet has, as a scholar studied these crafts, honed in on these talents, illustrated a voice, choice, a damn good stubborn yet fairly fair compromising opinion, and the power to move is that very writer, that very musician which she wonders if she is. Do not doubt for a moment that you have not achieved something spectacular here. I thank you for the thanks, but dear lady the source of your wonderful words, the people that have been inspired in reflecting on your work -- that work is of you, of your love, of God's work of love that is and makes up you. God bless you for it. Thank God for it, I do, that I should have to put up with such a lazy appreciative brilliant spirit as you. (I could have chosen to flatter you, but I think the truth speaks for itself.)

Out of all those who I've tried to help in writing, there is none I enjoy helping so much as you, because I know you can take it all. The dirt, the praise and be able to sift through the crazy mind pouring of James and find meaning, and above all put up with a bloody long letter.

Now I shall breath, say when can we have coffee again?, and not wish, but pray you all thine bless'd favour by our master and Lord, and by thy inner muse may it be all the more devious and sharp, wittle on, wittle on.

Go in peace conqueror with grace as He would say, so I say,

Never let your divine gift of art and love fall,
    James

I think you made a bit of a mistake with your comment on Lord Espanyol's author page. You addressed it to me... instead of him... Wish you would be more careful when you're blasting somebody...I was left wondering who I had offended... but tht's just one of the reasons why I stopped by your page... The other one is that I do actually like your poetry... Good work.

Because I wanted Tuna Fish for lunch. And because he doesn't deserve the honour of an Orange Roughy.
  • Yunalonei on February 14, 2006
    LoL why a Tuna Fish?
Well I am reading his poems at the moment he only has 6 posted so it won't be difficult. I intend to leave very polite very Sarcastic comments on all of them, I am intrigued as to how he deals with them
  • rannilt on February 14, 2006
He is so not a judge. He's some angst-ridden teenager making up a life that sounds glamorous so he can back up his thoughtless comments. Yesterday he said he had a PhD in astro physics. Lying like that annoys me enough to wage full-out war on him. I think if I ever crossed paths with him I'd smack him in the face with a tuna fish.

I'm glad you agree. Thanks again!
  • Yunalonei on February 14, 2006
Your very welcome, consequently i have read some comments which Lord Espanyol has left and they are all utter rubbish or simple praise, he is rude to everybody it seems unless they are suck ups.

Apparently he is a 30 year old judge living in Britain, which is hillarious for me to imagine.

Anyway Once again way to go, I am hoping that he and I cross paths sometime so that we can have a discussion about his poetry and wording of comments.

    XxX
  • rannilt on February 14, 2006
Thank you so much! I wanted other people to read them so I could be sure I wasn't flying off the handle.

His insults don't bother me because I know that's the only way he can defend himself from the nasty words I was using.

Thank you so much for your support in this issue, and for your well-wishing. It means a lot.
  • Yunalonei on February 14, 2006
Hey I came across your comments on a poem called Why? by Espanyol (or something like that)

First I wanted to give you a huge pat on the back for saying what you did, it is so rare to find an honest critiquer.
I left a comment on his poem after reading it in the featured section and after reading the other comments as well. Your critique is very in depth and would have been very useful for a poet (it's a shame a poet didn't read it, only a half wit)

I just wanted to let you know that I agree with you whole heartedly and can't believe that he had sunk so low as to insult you as a person.

Good Luck with becoming a lawyer and with your love.

    Merry Part and Blessed Be.

And hurray Anna! I am so pleased that there are a few people who WANT the honest opinions of people who are trying to help! You wouldn't believe how many people I have offended just trying to 'help.' It's enough to make me become a hermit. *shakes head*

I'm glad there are people like you. And I hope you enter my contest. It should be open for another week or so, take your time.

I was drawn by your honesty in your most recently posted competition and I would - with an element of fear (even though I am twice your age - almost and fearful of no-one or nothing, lol) - appreciate your critique of some of my darker prose (NOT my uncharacteristic "Dreamtime" or "Ice" PLEASE!!). Lately I've been getting the same, limp critiques - much as I am grateful - but the time has come for a little more honesty - please... delve in!
    Keep writing.

Yes dear poet friend this is not an attempt to write a Italian Sonnet, it is an Italian sonnet. I do apreciate constructive criticism. I wasn't crazy about the rhymes either. But perhaps young lady as a musician you look at poems in a lyrical sense. I know, my daughter is a musician. Anyway, thanks again and PLEASE keep critquing me. I am new at writng sonnets-- God Bless--

Hi there! I enjoyed reading some of your poetry. I read a lot more than I actually commented on. It seems like you go through spurts- some of your poetry is simply perfect! I can see you have really been uinspired. And others are more just writing until you get to that point of inspiration again. I enjoyed watching how that dynamic worked with you! Glad I crossed paths!

Hi, i loved your 'bus' poem so much, i thought i'd check out your author page
So you like long words aye?...Well here's a present ( i ope its won you havent got yet)
SESQUIPEDALIANISTIC..i think thats how its spelt :S it means you use long words when they are unnecessary, kind of an ironic word in itself

  • asinnerliketherest on May 29, 2005
I was apathetic for a while, or maybe I was just being Canadian. . . I haven't decided, yet. Now I'm just trying to read until I'm as blind as Milton. I haven't been bike riding in a while, so unfortunately my gnat and like species diet is a little dimished this summer so far.

I'm having a ball in the room with the dancing -- that actually worked out ok, a buddy of mine, Saman who suprsingly chose to join up at the last moment, and I became acquainted with 2 precious Malaysian girls. who kindly have paired up with us. My other buddy Prashanth has managed to get a hmmmmmmm. . . (friend? Is that would you would say?) of his to dance with him, which I knew of from previous, since he was the one who discovered the summer dancing.

Tuesday nights @ 6pm I play indoor soccer with a whole bunch of really awesome soccer players in the education gym. I mean these guys are really good. I must have been the youngest one there and it's like playing with the world -- about half of them are from Iran and surrounding Europe, but I mean these guys are from all over! And they are so good. I feel so out of shape and underpriviledged to be playing with them, but I was still invited back to play again. I even scored a goal and then they put me in goal in another game and I let the ball in later on. . . lol (I'll confess though while I love soccer it had been a year since I played and longer since I played hardcore like that. . . Ummmm. . . yeah. . . played for like 2 hrs. and there's virtually no out of bounds. . . Just ceiling and basketball nets. . . so it's continuous play even more than soccer on a field outside, lol. I played the first 21 minutes straight (we do 7 minutes/ first one to 2 goals) and then got some rests, but I must have clocked about an 1hr.1/2 of play and let's just say getting up the next morning took a while. . . in fact I realized, four days later when everything stopped aching, that well maybe it's time to get used to exercising again, lol. . . I love soccer though, as much as writing. . . maybe even more than. . .)

I'm absolutely loving Early Victorian -- studying Dicken's Hard Times & Thackery's Vanity Fair -- HUGE FAN OF DICKENS so despite murder reading I'm finding it quite a pleasant read. Then the other course is studying indepth Life & leisure on Greeks & Romans. . . like everything. . . eating, drinking, games, sports, theatres, sports, etc. what ever they did that was pleasurable. . . the sex lecture *cough*. . . very interesting. . . :| :$ lol

The graveyard didn't go. They wouldn't have me after all. Got run around the bush, had three interviews & then nothing. Oh well, there are other jobs & places. In light of the murderous reading I do not think it would be wise to take up full time at this time anyway, but heck, I'll find something as I need. For now I half to focus on these courses, since I've grown attached to them and now paid for them, lol. However, in truth, I really wanted to stay for the dancing and now, with soccer, there is no way I can go back to Barrie, at least not until the end of June. July may carry another tune.

Tam is back in town now and I've been in communicato with her once again, but we will have to figure out schedules if we are to engage in friendly laughs and farts. . . er hanging out and drinking until we pee or shopping or whatever the heck you call such outtings of friends. Thus, I say to you. . . When are you free? Thurs. 4:30pmish - Sun. are the best days for me, i.e. esp. fri./sat./sun. at least for now. OH! Also breakfasts! I like Berine's Diner in CAW. . . big fan of egg/bacon on toasted crossant so good! and you can have it on bagel or muffin, etc. homestyle. . . it is my new breakfast friend until I go shopping, lol. . . but I can go there bef. class from 8am-12am and get food, which when I get up that early is good.

Um yes, so that is my life I supposa. . . WHAT'S YOURS?? Ghost what are you up to these days? Are the gnats after you? If you ever are up for walks or meetings or what not, let me know! I have also noted that William's pub in the library is open at certain times, though I cannot remember these times for the life of me. Sam's Pizzeria is a nice place in the area as well. . . They have a whole slew of coffes & teas I don't know where about you are stuck most days, but if you ever end up in university area and want to hang, let me know. And even if that's next to impossible, I am capable of meeting closer to your end of town. Please understand and respect my right to travel. It is of no inconveince to me since I appreciate a good travel and you two live more that way any way, so. Whatever. . .

    -ttyl James

    P.S.
I suppose this is long enough. . . no wait I think it requires one more. . . word.

Thank you so much for applauding my work. I understand that the story is not for everyone. It's actually an educational glimpse into the mind of serial killers. And difinitely not to glorify crime. I have three other poems, all about love. I'd suggest you read A Walk to Remember, it will difinitely soothe your senses.
  • asinnerliketherest on January 25, 2005
You wrote something! See I told you this site was addictive. . . Oh, wait. . . Did I tell you this site was addictive? Well I just did, lol Awesome, awesome! I can't wait to read your stuff

Rockin' bio. by the buy. . . It captivated me. . . are you using your prose witchery on us already? Is that it? lol. . . You are going to have to beat the 13 year old boys away with a stick I love that pic. . . It has inspired me. Ho hum, eh? Oh you *rolls eyes*

Here's the truth I find with this site, to take a glass anallegy. . . If your mind is Alice in Wonderland, then allpoetry is the sequel: Through the Looking Glass. You can meet all sort of creatures of all sorts of ages and intellects here. This is a place of exploration and adventure. There's all kinds of neat things you can do and it's all in the name of a good time. It's a place to vent, a place to apply the mind, to meet crazy people from all around the world. . . Some aren't even poets here. Some are aspiring writers, Some are writing professors, some write and read here for a hobby. It's a very free society - like the Grad house. Come as you are. There are high brows, and low brows and . . . um, trimmed brows? (those in between).

If you have concerns about stuff ask away, I'll do my best to help ya figure things out. If I'm not around and you want to know about the rules or have a problem the moderators in the list "moderators" to the right can help you. Just click on one of their names & IM them your problem. If you have questions in general check one from the list "greeters" to the right. Actually, you should be hearing from a greeter one of these days to give you the links and explanations of how the site works, so no fret dear (lol, I should be a greeter).

It is a very non-serious/serious society. It's for all ages, for all attitudes and free speech is encouraged (within reason of course).

It looks like you already have the posting figured out. . . It's pretty much a walk through process. . . You gain points for commenting on other's work (or buying of course) They also have promo packages (you have the new membership "silver membership" one right now and it usually lasts a week or two) - for a fee you can get certain special priviledges, but posting and hanging around and doing all the important stuff is free.

You can join poetry groups. . . You may have noticed I'm in tons, lol. . . basically it allows peoples to find others interested in similar things as them - and each group has their own posting board.

Contests: click on the contests at the top and it will take you to lists of contests currently running - keep an eye on closing deadlines - you can enter them and just write about what the authour of the contest is looking for -sometimes I find they help with inspiration as they challenge you to write about different things. You can also submit a "prewrite" if the host of the contest allows it (a previous written work before the contest was made) and get trophies and points as well. . . if you win first place you are guaranted a minimum of 300pts. Some hosts will give points for 2nd, & 3rd place, etc.

If you have 300 pts. you can run a contest under the contest link and you get to define and judge your own contest supper cool!!!!

There are sister sites as well - if you scroll all the way to the bottom of this page you'll see Allpoetry, Storywrite, Allphilosophy, Oldpoetry. These are all sister sites with different stuff (poetry, stories, philosophy, old poetry) - click away and check 'em out. . . The beauty of this as well, is that you are not confined to any set writing style. You are welcome to write poetry, stories, philosophy and what have you. . . Lol, so many times I'll start writing a poem and it will turn into a story, or vise-versa - they really make that transition very easy to do because you can do anything your heart desires here.

Oh, they also have writing/school workshop thinga-me-jigs going on and I'm still trying to figure out how that works because it's still a pretty new idea. . .

I've met so many amazing characters here: Christians, Classicists, kids, grandmas (They're my fave, lol I kind of have a few poetic mums. . . . . . It's funny actually, most of the time I'll be totally wooed by them and then I'll go to their home page to say hi. . . And it figures, they're married and older than my mom, lol). . . It truly is a paradise here. . . I love the Brits, lol. . . they're great. There was even this 11 year old girl from France who's writing I came across and I was totally blown away by how well she can write at that age. . . It's crazy. It's just a crazy wonderful world here. You can get really good criticism on your work by some, you can share in the joy and encouragement of the craft with others. . . It's crazy. . . I've never been much of a journal writer. . . But, if someone wanted to see my journal the closest thing to it would be the coments I make on poems. . . That's like the sweetest features of this site. . . It's not quite heaven, but if I were certainly Roman Catholic many ancient years ago, I believe this would be pergatory, lol. . . A happy one

    Enough said die words!
