    To a Painting of Echo

    Foolish artist, why must you sketch my face
    And hound a goddess eyes cannot detect?
    I am the daughter born of Speech and Space,
    Babble's mother, a voiceless intellect.
    I snatch a word before it disappears
    Then mimic mindlessly what I have found.
    I am Echo--I live within your ears.
    If you believe you can paint me, paint sound.

    AM Juster

    Hope your Christmastime is full of peace and joy.

    Miss you.

    Lisa

    Once, far over the breakers,
    I caught a glimpse
    Of a white bird
    And fell in love
    With this dream which obsesses me.

    Happy Halloweeeeeeen! Well Almost...

    The Little Green Orchard

    by Walter de La Mare

    Some one is always sitting there,
    In the little green orchard;
    Even when the sun is high
    In noon's unclouded sky,
    And faintly droning goes
    The bee from rose to rose,
    Some one in shadow is sitting there
    In the little green orchard.

    Yes, when the twilight's falling softly
    In the little green orchard;
    When the grey dew distills
    And every flower-cup fills;
    When the last blackbird says,
    'What - what!' and goes her way - ssh!
    I have heard voices calling softly
    In the little green orchard

    Not that I am afraid of being there,
    In the little green orchard;
    Why, when the moon's been bright,
    Shedding her lonesome light,
    And moths like ghosties come,
    And the horned snail leaves home:
    I've sat there, whispering and listening there,
    In the little green orchard.

    Only it's strange to be feeling there,
    In the little green orchard;
    Whether you paint or draw,
    Dig, hammer, chop or saw;
    When you are most alone,
    All but the silence gone...
    Some one is watching and waiting there,
    In the little green orchard.

    hello matthew. its great to see you hanging around lately. I've hit a dry spell in writing poetry the last couple of months but am going to solve that very soon. I'm feeling well, thank you (fully recovered from my stroke last february) I hope all is well with you and I'll get to read some new mushika poetry.

    Every now and then I see you on and it is good to see you are still around from time to time.
  • imagesofagirl on March 12, 2005
    okay, so after looking through some comments, these are some lines I came up with from the poem:

    cupid would have had a heart attack

    'maybe I could paint your eyelids so it looks like they're open

    which are you, sleepy cactus boy
  • imagesofagirl on March 12, 2005
    hello there.

    I am trying to find this poem that I read two years ago. I'm pretty sure it is by you, but it seems that all your poetry has fled. I dont know what it was called, but this is what I can remember about it:

    It was about a girl and a guy and they were at some dumpy truck stop I think, and they made love in the back room, and it had great images about the girls eyes being closed or damn it, I can't remember, but something about chinese food too maybe? or some type of food. crap. this is not very helpful. also about how everyone looked at them, all cracked out and stuff. I really wish I could remember more about it, but I read it so long ago.

    If it was not by you, ignore this messsage, but if it was could you please send me that poem so I can read it again? It really had a huge influence on my style and the direction I took with my poetry.

    anyways,
    thanks,
    mel.

    I enjoyed your dark complexities.
    Hope you are well...
    I mostly only lurk here these days...
