Delphinidae on September 19, 2004Hi there.. I just wanted to pop by and see how you are doing. From reading all your recent poems, I can see that times are very challanging at the moment. Here's a

painted veil on September 15, 2004hey, if you like my poetry, you really should think about entering my contest- it's worth 850 points and i'd love you to be a part of it.
-
miamigirl on September 15, 2004Thank you for the warm comment. I write about what is in my heart and mind, so I am like everyone else. If it bothers me it builds up until it explodes on paper. It means so much when I hear that something I have felt or thought about had an impact on someone. It's an awesome feeling. Thanks for your support, it means so much.

-
painted veil on September 15, 2004ahh shucks, thanks for all you applause and comments. They made me smile. I'm happy that you can atleast relate to some of what I write because to me, that is what poetry is. It is about conveying a thought or emotion in such a way that those who have felt it or something close can connect with it on some universal level. cheers, kat
-
dreamscape85 on September 15, 2004I love your writing style. You always seem to write about something that is bigger and broader than just yourself or other humans. I like this aspect the most. I hate (though i am guilty of it) when people write only of themselves and their experiences. It is great to have a change. Thank you.

Tecolote on September 15, 2004hey, thanks for your message...glad that so far you and family have been doing ok from the last hurricanes...my parents were also having a nearby hurricane by the Baja, but it looks it's going to go paralel to the peninsula, away from La Paz...let's hope Ivan doesn't creat too much havoc
...thanks for your wishes buddie, I actually plan to post a write about it...like a warning about meeting people online... ~ Juan

miamigirl on September 12, 2004Thanks for being so sweet and interested. We have so far been spared by the wrath of the storms. However, our lives are in an uproar. Our home is boarded up, gas stations and stores are low on supplies and it is just constant chaos. We are just now entering what is known as the peak of the season. I can't phatom what might await us. I especially feel for my neighbors on the West Coast who have been hit twice in a month. Life as they once knew it ceased to exist. I and my family lost everyhting but our lives during hurricane Andrew, so I know how horrible it is for those poor people up there. We take so much for granted, until it is all gone. LIfe is never the same afterwards. You view your existence a bit differantly. Thanks for chatting. God bless and peace to you and yours.

agazeley on June 25, 2004Hello - Thanks for commenting on my work. Yes we have a lot in common Haha - I cant spell and don't know what such things as meter and clinches etc etc - are. . . I just write using the natural rhythm in my head and common sense rhyme - Academics sometimes go to great lengths to point out my technical mistakes which really highlights their own human errors Haha - but I write for me basically, and people are welcome to share - even my spell check misreads my words at times - so you are not alone - Albert.

BonnieQ on June 5, 2004Thought I'd drop by to peruse your Author Bio, hon. It seems we've more in common than, perhaps, either of us even realized.
"Nevermore, nevermore, quoth the raven." Ah, Poe: a master at the written word. I did my senior thesis on his life, discovering that his darker writings actually did not begin until after his wife died. Those really reflect his deep grief held at bay, for moments at a time, by drugs. Poe wrote in all three modes, capturing the attention of just about anyone who loves to read.
"Great Expectations." Is that one of Ellen G. White's books? Anyway, now I am off to review and, if you don't mind, critique some of your work with my editor's hat on. Now mind you, as an editor some of my writers have said of me, "brutal but superb." I tell it like it is, because I remember what it was to be a struggling writer aspiring to be an author.
Lots of love and hugs, BonnieQ

shadowmaster05 on May 28, 2004Miami Girl has an exquisite sense of word choice. In each word of every choice it's obvious to me that she will sit there with a poem, and carve it and smoothe it till the piece is absolutely gorgeous, her writting is worth reading.
Miami girl, thanks for all your commenting, seems like everyone seems to love you haha... but yeah keep up your fantastic work,

FalseReality on May 2, 2004I just wanted to thank you for commenting on my poetry. I also wanted to say thanks for giving me advice and telling me what my grammatical errors were. I guess, when I'm in the depth of a thought, I scribble words down so quickly I don't think much about the spelling or the use of words, thanks for bringing that to my attention. You mentioned a site were you can enter contests and things of that sort.. I would love to have more information... If you would email me the info. at BlondieLocks327@aol.com I've always wanted to enter a contest or two, but I guess I don't have enough faith in myself, Or maybe I'm just scared of rejection, Either way, I guess, I can just take a chance. Keep your head up and the pen down. Thanks again. FalseReality

Just wanted to take the time to personaly thank you from my heart for all of your kind words on my poetry. I know the first one you read was my recent, the whole religon bashing one, so I'm glad you didn't instantly hate me for it..lol. It's abit off for me, as I'm usualy a very balanced, mellow person in life. Anyways, I look forward to reading a lot of your works here shortly. Look for my comments in the future, friend!

Almighty Aphrodite on March 22, 2004(waves) Hello,
I thank you for the nice comment on one of my vocabulary class pages.
It appears to benefit some people, so maybe, if I can convince haikumonk (who runs the official AP School of Poetry) that it's needed enough, the vocabulary assignments might turn out to be a permanent class, which means everyone will be able to use what people have labeled as my "50 dollar words". I kept my head in the dictionary in middle school, which is when I began writing. I believe that everyone can benefit from expanding their diction. Poetry is all about morphing thought and being able to say the same old thing in a different way.
Well, thank you again, and I'll go read one of your poems now. Make sure to visit again soon!
Many blessings,
Raven Aurora

miamigirl on March 8, 2004Thanks for all the info. I hope I'll enjoy my membership. I believe I will.

Barbara on March 2, 2004Hi there miamigirl!
I would like to welcome you to Allpoetry. This is a wonderful place to share your writing with others, and to enjoy the variety of works posted here by those who share in your love of poetic expression. Allpoetry is an interactive community, which means you should comment on 4 poems for every 1 you post. The more poems you read and leave a comment on, the more your name will be seen and the more people will want to read your work.
Help - The Help link will give you more information about the site. It is an excellent page to stop at, and will answer most of your basic questions. If you have any questions about the Help page, or the AP Policy, allpoetry.com/special/policies , you can ask any of us for help. The Moderators are highlighted in blue, while Site Greeters are in green. Click on the (IM) beside the name in the poet list, type your question into the small box that will appear just below the chatterbox, and send!...
is just a mouse click away!
Membership - As a note of thanks from the site, all new members are given a free four-day trial preferred membership when they join. This allows you to post pictures with your poems and on your author page. Once the trial is over, you will no longer be able to enjoy these special benefits unless you purchase a membership for yourself. Although a membership is not required in order to post poems or comment, it does make the AP experience a bit more exciting. Further details are in the Store link at the top of the page.
Contests - Each month the Site Greeters host a contest for new poets, and March's contest can be found here - allpoetry.com/contest/517241 . At the top of the screen you will notice a Contests link, where different AP poet-hosted challenges will help inspire your creative talents, and allpoetry.com/Column/307514 is an interesting column that describes contests and how they are judged.
Emoticons - You may have noticed the emoticons, or 'smilies' that people add to comments, and the chatterbox. A list can be found here-> allpoetry.com/Column/306041
Promoting - Two options to promote your work are the Shameless Promotion section, and the Feature section. Please do not promote in the Chatter Box, Instant Message, or the Bulletin Boards. A moderator or greeter will ask you to stop, and you could be 'fined points'.
I hope you enjoy yourself here at Allpoetry, or at one of the sister sites: Storywrite, Allphilosophy, and Oldpoetry (links at the bottom of this page). If you have any questions you can IM me and I will be happy to help in any way I can. If you would like to meet the other greeters, please stop by our page, allpoetry.com/poets/AP%20Greeters
