I owe several apologies around AP...I have to confess that I've been so totally clueless about navigating this site that I've often had trouble finding my own work! Responding to those who left comments...well, I hope you can sympathize at least a little with how hard that would be under those circumstances. (I actually had to put desktop shortcuts to my columns to be certain of finding them!)

someone has finally taken pity on me, and shown me how to be certain of finding my own author page, and how to follow the links to those who comment on my work. I'm now so far behind in it that, yes...this is a form letter. (again, my apologies!)

Wow, I read your winning contest poem. It was awesome. I believe you must a very good outlook on life. I loved the symbolism at the end wrestling with it, made me think of all the times I look to blame something or someone when things don't go my way. Thanks for the perspective.

My favortie author is Billy Collins also- so I know you have good taste. Did you see his poetry reading at the Library of Congress?
They put it on the internet. . .may not be there now. . .but about 45 minute videostream came across and it was FANTASTIC!

Here's a little Billy Collins:

Rooms

After three days of steady, inconsolable rain,
I walk through the rooms of the house
wondering which would be best to die in.

The study is an obvious choice
with its thick carpet and soothing paint,
its overstuffed chair preferable
to a doll-like tumble down the basement stairs.

And the kitchen has a certain appeal-
it seems he was boiling water for tea,
the inspector will offer, holding up the melted kettle.

Then there’s the dining room,
just the place to end up facedown
at one end of its long table in a half-written letter

or the bedroom with its mix of sex and sleep,
upright against the headboard,
a book having slipped to the floor-
make it “Mrs. Dalloway,” which I have yet to read.

Dead on the carpet, dead on the tiles,
dead on the stone cold floor-
it’s starting to sound like a ballad
sung in a pub by a man with a coal red face.

It’s all the fault of the freezing rain
which is flicking against the windows,
but when it finally lets up
and gives way to broken clouds and a warm breeze,
when the trees stand dripping in the light,

I will quit these dark, angular rooms
and drive along a country road
into the larger rooms of the world,
so vast and speckled, so full of ink and sorrow-

a road that cuts through bare woods
and tangles of red and yellow bittersweet
these late November days.

And maybe under the fallen wayside leaves
there is hidden a nest of mice,
each one no bigger than a thumb,
a thumb with closed eyes,
a thumb with whiskers and a tail,
each one contemplating the sweetness of grass
and the startling brevity of life.

yeah i think it was around the end of 5th grade that everything seemed to begin to spiral downward for me too.. 8th grade was shitty for everyone im pretty sure, but yeahh.. 9th grade.. enough said, loL, but it was definatly worth these shitty days we got now dont you think? try and look at it that way

Ok you asked me a question the bluntest truth is if you dont confees with you mouth and belive with your heart that Jesus is gods son and he arose on the third day then you are going to Hell.
I dont know you but from your question i can tell you have great potential to tell people about God. My advice is talk to some one spiritual or talk to me. i know i had alot of questions before and after i got saved. So if you have any thing you want to talk abuot i will try to help you.
