    Kirsten's Second Sonnet
    In a proper sonnet, there ought to be
    a volta -- or rather, a turning thought,
    where the focus changes, so we can see
    the poet's precious underlying thought.

    It's rare to see a volta in the flesh;
    most humans seem to despise any change.
    It is difficult to wipe the slate fresh,
    and embark on a journey, new and strange.

    It's difficult to wave; to say farewell,
    to pack what remains, and leave everything,
    to never return? -- Only fate can tell,
    whether you'll return, after finding wings.

    Change is difficult to fully embrace;
    only with change shall you find your true place.

    a girl walks a path to self-destruction
    and fire follows wherever she goes
    spring grows inside her
    and she has become mass imperfection
    bound to a cord of solitude and disappointment
    like a string on a guitar, she is strung
    and like the tune that comes after,
