    Response to Katina

    Dear Katina

    Truly the sun had set.
    My dreams are but crashed.
Who can but ruin a heart a poet has?
Who can extinguish that fire glowing within?
Katina you are right my dear,
You still can see my face,
    I will not die.
    To die I refused!

    Truly, I have been calling;
    Katina, Ka-tina, Kat-ina, Ka-ti-na, Kati-
    Why have I been calling?
I know Katina is but a true friend
Whose goals like mine are the same.
Whose vision if spiced with mine.
    The world we gonna change!

    Ours are shared dreams
    Shared experiences.
    Shared love,
    Greater than vows made
To be broken under the influence of justification.
    Sacred than golden crosses
    Adorning the archbishop’s mitre
    Is what glue our friendship.

    It is really painful Katina,
    Painful to the marrow.
    Bear with me.
For so much I trusted, I wrote.
When I saw that was injustice did I spoke.
Yea, I had my own story among those who believe.
Those who are nearer the Holy of Holies
But very far from Him they claim to worship!

    One thing, only one Katina my dear;
    I chose to be myself.
    I opted to be free.
Free as a city bird that survive on well wisher’s heart.
Free as a crab enjoying Indian’s cool breeze and serenity.
Yes, I am on my two, standing
To service the world with our shared words,
    Thoughts and ideals!

As you look up the sky’s stars
Pleading on my behalf with Him who dwells there,
    Down here, I am strengthened!
    Thank you dear friend.
    I am so much grateful.
Such a heart is yours beautiful like the still waters of the Zambezi
Pleasant like the rainbow born at Victoria Falls
    Grandeur like the Cape Mountains.

I believe, the poetry in us
Is the kind the world shall live with.
    It has been our duty;
Pen, paper will carry our dreams.
The young, old alike, shall live
    To see our children’s children.

    Katina, keep happy a face
    Free a mind
Liberated a soul will be yours!

    Your friend

Katina, There are many who can edit and write a legal paper with every "dot" in place. Poetry is from the inner soul and comes in many tones of sorrows lost and notes of joys gained. Thank you for teaching us all; your soul is open and we hear. God bless you, Annie

A disablity writer. A rebel with a cause. Great idea. I suspect there are alot of us writing on AP right now who are disabled and write. Look at Steven Hawk, talk about overcoming a disability. He is amazing and one of my heros. And now you are one of my heros. Good luck with all your endeavors.
    Love,
    Doris

Hi there. I hope you don't mind me leaving you a message here. It's just I was looking around the site and came across your page. I've read a couple of your writes too and they're very inspiring.
I also saw you have a site due to open in Jan, good luck with that.
    Take care,
    SilverScent

p.s next to your site link you say it will be running Jan 2006, I think you meant 2007 lol.

Hi, thanks for your comments. I will repost the one about pains of waiting, minus the dodgy bit lol. I've added you to my favourites because you give really constructive cryticism and I love the way you're premoting disability/illness awareness. From my view point as a blind person, this is such a good thing to do because I have never been teased for being blind but I sometimes get treated simple for it and people just understand the things I can and can't do. Is the poem from your book up here? Anyway, I love your poems, hugs, Meggh xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi, It's so great that you support all these disabilities and illnesses. I myself am blind but I have never written poems about it. However, my friend, on AP, is blind too and there are two poems of hers I think you would be interested in. One's about being blind, the other's about all different disabilities. I think her name is love is beauty but she keeps changing it. I'll send you the links. Luv Meggh, xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey Katina... No problem about the critique, it's nice to have someone voice their opinions. You can't be a decent writer without being influenced by the outside world. You can't presume you know everything about writing and that is often some of the professionals flaws. I thank you for your opinions and will take them into account. Very welcome as I say and as it's not put in a mean way, it's not like, "This is crap." Which is unfair and doesn't help the author/poet actually change what the reader didn't like.

Thanks and hope to see you soon.

Sorry for the delay in responding..I started my very first contest and I have midterms next week

The "Gasa", I had not heard of that type of poetry before. I am very intrigued about your performance (poetry)and music. Do you have any video of it? Or example poetry on that form?

    Let me know,
    thank you again

  • guyleftout on October 28, 2006
MMMM, I wrote Confusion... I like your long and informal comment, and I reread that poem three times and only got two mistakes and then I noticed the last line too. So it should make sense now.
  • midnightshadow on October 27, 2006
Whoot, Katina, you rock my socks! You've helped to really open up the world of literiture to me, thanks! I'm very happy to be working with you on the group, and I hope we judge many more contests together! Cheers!

Thank you for the applause !
Seeing your comments above, I thought I pass on to you some info somewhat related...I have been living within the Asian area for over 10 years now and would delight in more Westerners becoming more aware of its various styles to explore than the way overly used Japanese form of "haiku"...there is the ancient Korean form, pre-Joseson dynasty period (used to be spelled differently, the change is a long story here), known as the "Gasa", a long lyrical poem that was a bit of a narrative piece set to music. I had become enthralled with it
and created my take on it when I made my piece "KuMiHo" (literally translated as "nine tailed fox") and became a 20+
minute performance by a Korean art rock band I was in at the time, but set to Western music...we performed it at an international arts festival, among other places, here and because of that the University of Kyung-hee published it in both English and Korean in their anthology "Shi San" (Poet's Mountain).

aweee, you’re so sweet, made my night.
hugs Were you able to open that PowerPoint up?
What stuff have you read? I'm behind on my replies and my new reading here on AP. Trying to keep up with the school work. It should be getting easier, but it's not;( I'll print off you comment and cherish it forever, especially when I'm having a really bad day.

Words can make a lot of difference in someone's life!
    Thanks

I started a writing group at
    Google Groups
the link is on the author page here on AP,
It is not altogether yet, I'm just working on it until it goes somewhere. I'd love to have you in the group. You are very talented.

    IM me anytime, k.

    Tomorrow is another day
if things don't go, your way today
Don't whine, or pout or even fret
will a new day come, I say, you bet

So if there's clouds now overhead
or if you hear harsh words that said
Remember self, it what's mind's fed
and you determine, where your lead

So wait a spell, just take a break
and separate the truth from fake
    Determine what does matter most
And live this life, don't be a ghost

For no matter what the lot we draw
most things don't matter any how
So watch the scenes and breath the day
Don't be all work, enjoy the play

    -Eddy

Usually we get depressed because we get to wrapped up
in either our self or the happenings around us. We should
step back and examine what is happening around us at least
a couple times each day. So smile and have a lovely day...

Thank you for the sweet comment you left on my Author Page. I really don't know how to describe that poem. It just came to me and I love it. I like to read it when I am stressed. Another AP poet on here who was battling cancer told me her husband plays soft music and reads it to her so she can relax. That made me love it even more. I may need to get some advice from you because my oldest daughter is a Senior this year. I also have a son who is a Junior and another daughter who is a Freshman so that College thing is fast approaching. Take care. You seem like a very kind person and I'm glad you stopped by.

I kno another who runs away from such things...but the longer you run, the strongr it gets, and when it catches up to you, it'll be even worse than it first was.

It is better to face these things as soon as possible.
  • Rose Dark Thorn on August 8, 2006
I takes much courage to show your true self to all, and it takes even more courage on their part to accept you.

I hid myself for years. I got sick of hiding.

    Maybe you will too someday.
  • katina on August 3, 2005

This is a great web site, it has really opened my heart to the world of poetry, even though I am studying to become a non-fiction writer and novelist. Poetry comes from the soul. You have to love it, to write it.
    Happy Writing. . .
