Grey Mouser on August 29, 2006Appreciate the comment on my poem. Will take a look at yours when time permits. You do seem to be having an active and full life. Keep it going that way.

Amythest Moonjade on July 31, 2006Merry meet,
Welcome to All-Poetry. Your on your way to gather points towards holding contests. The best way to gather points is to read a lot of the poetry on here by other poets and comment on them. Tell them what you liked or disliked about the poem and why. This is how you critic a poem. If you know something about the form of the poem itself, i.e. free-verse, rhymn, meter, sonnet, alterisen. You can comment on how the poem fits the form. I always hope that people will let me know if there is a spelling error (despite spell-check they can sometimes creep in), if there seems to be a word missing for the line or stanza to make sense, ect. These are things that make a person good at being a critic. The more you do the better you become. Don't be discouraged if some people decide that they don't like what you have said. Some people have too delicate an ego to hear what someone really thinks and they really only want applause and kudos. Develope your skills in this area.
Another way to get points is to enter contests. The more poems you write, the better you get, the more forms you can learn, and the more people will get to know your work. The people will look for your new poetry just to see what you have written. You may not win anything right away, but you might. You'll never know unless you enter in contests and have people critic your poems for you.
I'll quit now since I seem to be writing an essay about this.
Good luck to you in all your new and old ventures

weetbix on July 30, 2006yeah i'm from the land downunder! n I love it. There are some spiders and snakes if youre out in the bush but not reall that many like on the streets or whatever. It's a common mis-conception just like the one that we have kangaroos for pets. Anywho thanks for your comment and keep in contact ♥Trix
