Asmearis on April 18, 2005When you leave comments, you earn points according to the amount of text you write. The longer the critique, the more points you get (up to five). If you only say, "Nice poem" or something equally short, no points are awarded.
Generally, you don't give points to poems you like--you use points to create contests, and when you choose the winners, they automatically get the prize amount if they're first place. Let me know when you do your first contest and I can help you out. But if there's a poem you read and like on general purposes, you can give applause by clicking the "applause" link under the poem. That gives 5 points plus an applause dealy-bobber, which doesn't do much, but the top 50 applauded poems are up on a page somewhere. You get two "free" applauses every day, beyond that you pay for the five points out of your own point till.
Have fun reading my stuff. I'll add you to my favorites list and comment on your work. I'll especially need the experience and the feedback next year.
Oh, on that note, I got accepted to the Iowa Writers' Community at U of Iowa. I don't know how much you know about the program, but it's the undergrad housing community that's sponsored by the Writers' Workshop. I'm one of 47 undergrad students to be in it, and I'll get to do some cool seminars and workshops, get to rub shoulders with the WW folks, and all that jazz... So, I'm excited.
Anyway, I'll get to reading your stuff now!
