hi, your contest sounds fun and challenging, I think however I will let you surprise me wityha subject. What the hell, you only live once.
  • gothicchildren05 on October 17, 2006
yes, you can put a twist on jack and jill......it doesn't have to be like the nursery rhyme at all. the halloween one about the skeletons and pumpkins doesn't have to be scary just about skeletons and pumpkins and the elmo one does have to be a good character....sorry if you were thinking otherwise but my son loves elmo and well, so do I

    hope that helps you out.
  • deadheartedkitty on October 17, 2006

Vanessa, I'd like to thank you for commenting on my poetry. I'm glad you enjoyed at least two of my poems. I'm very new to the site so any advice would help, I was hoping to meet someone that would help me with my poetry. I've been in a slump lately so any support would help. In the meantime thanks again for being an ear, I think it's what all of us enjoy most.

  • An Angel In Black on July 24, 2006
thanx for the comment. That was my first poem (Thine Heart). Edgar Allen Poe was my inspiration. Short and sweet but fully expressing.

Wow, your poems are VERY good. I did not read them all because it would take me a month but the ones i did read....well, its no wonder you have so many trophys! Don't stop writing...it would be a sad day for your readers.
  • Airborne Ed on May 21, 2006
Matt, I think both you and Vanessa both truly understand all the sacrifices we endure and all that we stand for. The comment she left is very touching and means a great deal to me. Seeing your page and reading such a comment only makes me believe that both of you are very special indeed.
  • gothicchildren05 on May 21, 2006
i would like to clear something up. the person that commented on your poetry, and gave you the applause was my fiance ( vanessa ). it was not me ( matt ), but i did indeed read the poetry that she was reading of yours. i am also glad to know that someone in the military can write poetry like i can. you are right about what people think about us, that they infact don't understand what we do in the military... as well as why do we join? i joined not only to serve my country, but to keep my family, friends, and the ones that are close to me safe. i am very pleased that you enjoyed the commenting that my fiance has made on your poems.
  • Airborne Ed on May 21, 2006
I am deeply honoured that you read and enjoyed my poem my brother-in-arms. I just do not know what to say but thank you for your comments and the warmth of your applause. Coming from someone who served in the forces means so much because the average person do not fully understand what we do or the personal sacurfises we and our families endure. Thank you so much for commenting on my poem.
  • Princess Paradise on May 18, 2006
HEY CHECK OUT MY LATEST POEMS!!
  • thirdlight on May 15, 2006
hi, I wrote a poem this month called May to Me, I wonder if you would like it submitted to your competition. I realise that it doesn't quite fit your requirements, but the poem was written during the time I found your contest. Sorry if this bothers you, but I would like to ask.

As elated as the wind on highest valley greens
Luscious as a leave of trees found in between
Flowing as a river while it edges it's way forth
Searing as the sun veering towards the north

    Coastal lands breathe peaceful sighs
Shaded ripples wade shore to sky
    Golden sands basking within heat
Tiny flowers wave at passing feet

Daring as dancing shadows chasing light away
Prismatic as the light of vivid rainbow displays
Precious as the life of each and every newborn
As accepting as the Mothers, to and who adorn

thanks again, hope you enjoy it either way.
    Rose

THank you for all of the comments you left me. I would check out more of yours but I have to go, so I will later. I hope you don't mind the political comment. I can see that we have very different views there. (If infact you and Matt have the same view point.) lol But anyways, thank you very much for all of your kind words. I look forward to reading more of your stuff.

Thank you for those comments. They both made me smile, it was a nice change of mood for me. Your poetry, I love it. It goes where some people are afraid to write about. It is definitely emotionally driven, and I like that. I'll keep on reading it. =]
