Unca Goat on August 11, 2006I just had to drop by and must say I am pleasantly shocked to find a young person who, IMHO, has her head on straight! Lindsie, you are a breath of fresh air in this materialistic, throw away world! I shall have to return soon to delve into your writing, which I am looking forward to with great anticipation!

Fairy Nutty Buddy on August 9, 2006Hahaha...
My daughter is 17 and definitely doesn't cover more than she really HAS to most of the time. Then, other days, she doesn't shower and wears sweats to school, so I think she's on the right track with being herself, whatever that may be for the day.
Thank you for sharing the thoughts of Thearou. I haven't read his work, but I just might now!

find a dream on August 9, 2006why thank you! glad to be different from the vapid (and politically apathetic) minds that consume today's society!
I have always quoted Thearou because he said something witty in his writings about clothes being first to cover nakedness and second to keep warm, and yet people are fevorishly obcessed with the newest trends and buying new clothes every season even when it is completely unnecessary. That one should replace clothes when they are tattered and don't fill the requirement of baring the world from your nudity. Though I must say that most girls go for that look today, what with the pre-ripped jeans and skimpy tanks.
What can you do though? We live in a society obsessed with trends, the quick and easy things (like fast food and microwaves), sex, celebrities who are completely talentless and stand for nothing, and of people who dont vote or vote to keep assholes in office. (sorry I'm a little sore, politically from the primaries last night, I usually try not to talk politics!)
People are lazy, hard to please, and rude. Guess we have to deal, eh? so is life, unfortunately.
thanks so much!

Fairy Nutty Buddy on August 9, 2006I just came over to read one of your poems and return the favor and was enthralled with your bio page and didn't stop reading until I was done, and it's a long one! You are a rare breed and I applaud you for just being who you are and speaking your mind.
I have always hated the whole social structure in school and was just talking to someone about how when my daughter was younger I told my mom she didn't NEED new school clothes, as she hadn't outgrown hers yet, and how she argued with me about how she did NEED them, her point being for social reasons. The whole idea that the young children will pick on her, etc, and she will feel outcast (and her clothes were just fine, not worn out, she had plenty of them, etc).
The cliques, the bullying, the idea that everyone has to "fit," makes me crazy.
I will stop myself now. Guess reading your bio hit a nerve.
Again, kudos for being who you really are!
Wishing you all the best!
