To me, there is something of the Film Noir about San Francisco. I think of fog making the cityscape monochrome. I think of sun-fired blacktop burned to ash grey, but with bitumen filling the cracks on the streets that seem to rise in the perpendicular, crest in an impossible razor-ridge, dip, and rise again. I think of something older than it ought to be, as though people coming from the East found it already there, and the remaining handful of Californios couldn't explain it to them. But that's just the SF of my dreams, an impression, and my dreams often lie.

"I would have given my soul to have slept with Jean Harlow."

My grandpa had an ice business in California & delivered a block of ice to her mountain retreat. I asked him if he had enough left for her martini when he got there. Hmmm...he did look kinda flustered. Thanks for comin' by, Poet.

I went to college in Portland Oregan and I knew it was home, like the place my soul belonged the day I arrived. San Francisco has a special place in my heart for a variety of reasons but the biggest is for the magic that lives in its streets. It is all kind of funny that I can't seem to leave DC.

Loved your introduction about the Grand Ole Lady. May you always carry fare for a trolley ride and a vision of her streets in your heart.

    Peace & Light,
    Tom B.

I liked reading your story about San Francisco, it was very poetic. It reminds me of the great songs written about SF in the 60's. Thanks for reading and commenting on my featured poem, I really appreciated it. Many Blessings, FAH

Great to meet you! SF in the summer of love must have been a magical place. Did you get to the City Lights Bookstore? I spent some time there in the '80s - it is a beautiful city.
