Hurting so bad 08 on December 27, 2005Hey bookdragon, I just wanna say I love all your poems they have such a powerful message across them and I like coming back to some and reading them over and over. If you have time in your future I hope you can read some of mine, I would really like comments on them cause I know some might not be all that well for writing them in like a minute. Anyways, hope you had a great Christmas and I wish you a happy New Year!!!!

pentopaper on November 21, 2005I have not read that one in a long time. I went to oldpoetry (love that site too) and refreshed my mind. Another great Longfellow work, thank you for mentioning it!!

bookdragon on November 21, 2005A Psalm of Life, I had not read that in a while, your comment had me going back to read it, so thank you. Are you familier with "The Old Clock on the Stairs"(another I had not read in a while) With it's endless refrain of "Forever never/never forever"? If not you might enjoy looking it up. Longfellow was so popular in his day, only to have fallen to the wayside in this modern age, which is a shame since he was such an eloquent poet, whose poetry flowed with a rare musical quality.
P.S.
I am a "Dead Poet" fan, and have assembled collections both in e-text and print of several thousand poems by dead poets as well as biographies of poets, so excuse the long winded comment on Longfellow. When other young girls were reading "Teen Beat" I was hording literature. Like I said earlier I was a strange child. =) -
pentopaper on November 21, 2005The Psalm of Life from Longfellow is a poem that I can't read enough times!! I do very well actually...I always say I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in!
It is nice to meet you!

bookdragon on November 21, 2005Longfellow was the 2nd poet I discovered (Poe being the 1st), "The Day is Done" remains a favorite of mine not only because it is a wonderful soothing poem, but also because it has been with me in my head since I was 12. I used to recite it instead of counting sheep when I could't sleep (I was a strange child) and it never failed to leave me relaxed.
I am sorry to hear about the MS hope you are doing well, I have worked some Cardiovascular, but then in the last 14 years it seems I have worked every dept in the hospital except OR.
I am glad you enjoyed my poems, I have found everyone here tobe very friendly so far, so I am enjoying meeting others who enjoy the written word.
Edited on Nov 21, 9:23 p.m. because 'I STILL can't type'. -
