    missing you
  • astralshepherd on April 30, 2006
Audrey , the muse seems to fade at times for all who write, it is an empty lonely experience which makes one wonder “ what the heck its wrong with me?” when in fact there is nothing wrong at all.

My suggestion to you is to try this exercise. turn off the tv, after your homework and any chores are done, find several blank sheets of paper, no line and a pencil, (no pen) and write how you feel about not being able to write. Pretend its me you are writing to, explain what you feel inside, the dullness, the vacuum you are in, and do not edit it, just write. Do not write anything “explaining” the reasons, that’s a waste of time, you really don’t know the real reasons why, they just are.

Write the feelings, the images you feel. Start like this: “When i think about not being able to write i feel.....” - - - what is it you are feeling? is it soft? hard? slimy? hot? cold? fear? jealously? Allow yourself to FEEL what it is you are experiencing. Are you afraid? Lonely? Empty? Write it out on BOTH sides, feel free to use any and all colorful expletives you know.

When you have finished one sheet, move to the next.....but this is EXTREMELY important; rip up the first sheet into as many tiny pieces as you can, a million little pieces if you can....take out your sorrow and rage at the page and destroy it - - - then start again. It is really essential to eliminate the first page before moving on. When you complete the second page repeat the process, before you go ont to the third. Keep doing this until you get out of your psyche what it is you are feeling.

Do not keep anything. This exercise is to clear the brain and get more in touch with your feelings. Then wait a bit, you’ll know when, and start writing again, for yourself.

I keep a journal, it is my constant companion and has "listened" to me for years.

Blessings to you dear poet, you will find your way.

    ~richard

You've got the right idea on Tomorrow, but I Believe On Sundays is more of a justification for blind faith sometimes and even an encouragement to lose sight of reality and create a dream every so often. Kind of a slap at Sunday Christians at the same time.

It's one of my favorites, though I'm not sure why. It reads well, and just spits.
