Thank you for your kind words. I took a look at your front page and I think that it is cool that you can translate that many types of poetry. I love how you talk about the first person thing too. I am going to have to check out your work and see how your style is

It's always nice to hear of people being able to put supper on the table with their literary works. I think that's interesting what you do, the translating; I never thought of how much effort would be required. Makes perfect sense though, capturing the rhythm and all that jazz is very necessary. Hope your quest for peace of mind is bountiful!

I wondered why you were so crotchety about the 'friends only' denotation on my journal...then I found I wasn't on your friends list, either. Oh well. I hope you get to feeling better.

Wow, Is your name really Vera? Mine is too! It's not so common a name, but, I just dropped to say hi, and your poems are humorous.
  • adios muchachos : Dear Vera on October 18, 2008
I had a feller in today
To see if he could find,
What's ailin' this ol' dern pc,
And extricate me from this bind.

I said "The screen jes ain't the same,
As it were a month ago".
He said he'd have a look or two,
    Seein' I's so doggone low.

So he twists and turns a knob ur two,
And switched it off and on,
He said it looked all right to him,
    $20 later he were gone.

He won't be back, y'all rest assured,
'Cause no sooner than he lef,
I found out what the problem were
    And 'gan to criticize mysef'.

What's different 'bout this pc screen's
Not so much "What", but "Who"!
    I knew somethin' were missing,
But it were just us...MISSING YOU!

Get better, WE DO MISS YOU around here!

  • adios muchachos : Hello Vera on August 16, 2008
Just popping in to find out why you've been scarce lately. Hope all is well health-wise.
I just learned a good lesson while I was looking at the number of virtual trophies you've collected.
I think the early miners said it best when they said, "You've got to pan a lot of sand before you find a gold nugget."
I guess I've been thinking that everything I write is going to be great, and people will love it.
Actually I believe that you deserve more than sixty gold, but for sundry reasons I won't go into now. But the ratio of gold/to the number of entries is not unremarkable.
I've a question! Is it permissible to write a
mini-biographical sketch/poem of a person while they are yet alive? When you get back online, please let me know what you think is customary.
    I would appreciate it.

    Well, take care of yourself.

    Thinking of you,

    John

  • Judith Chandler : Humpty on August 7, 2008
Vera, I dropped by your page to look for the other Humpty poem that you recommended. Haven't found it yet but will keep on looking when I have a bit more time.

I had figured out a bit of the story of your illness, by reading the "Hair" poem you submitted to one of my contests. It was so full of humour and spirit.

Hope you are continuing to regain energy after the treatments you received. It gives me hope for a friend of mine who has been going through a similar experience and is also very positive about it all.

Your poems are always a pleasure to read, always literate and well done.

    Take care.

I have visited your page, and noticed that you have had an operation. I pray that you are much better. I also want to thank you for your comment regarding the "Pearl" title I used. To me it was fitting to use it in memory of my later mom. But I do appreciate your guidance. I see that you know my dear friend Myra [aka myrataal]. God bless. Frans

'During this difficult time, I felt greatly sustained by the prayers, "positive thoughts" and good wishes of my Allpoetry friends, and I cannot express in full the sincere gratitude I feel.'

This passage caught my attention in your profile. I have not been on the site long and joined for something to take my mind off the various problems life has thrown up in recent years. Although still finding my way, I have been contacted by a few very nice people and received some lovely comments from most. I suppose, as with everything & everywhere in life, there will be those who prefer to upset others but it is good to see that, on the whole, there are lovely people here. I have been inspired by your words. Thankyou.

Just stopped by to visit and am so glad I did. What an amazing story you have, with difficult circumstances, but so much to be grateful for. I wish you further recovery including a renewal of energy and stamina. Be blessed abundantly.

  • adios muchachos : Hi Vera on April 15, 2008
So very nice to hear from you the other day, circumstances notwithstanding!LOL
Don't know if I've told you, but I've begun my retirement, three days now. If I can get together enough money, I'm coming to London, and we're going for fish and chips, in a taxi, and I'll make sure they send a new one for us!LOL
I've no fear of flying, nor of sailing in a steamship, but I do have a fear of flying over
    steamships, that is the catch22.LOL
Well, you be good, and I'll say a prayer that you don't take that literally.

    Love You,
    John

The only actual complaint that matters are the ones for featured where poets lose points they earned by commenting. Other than that, I have a tendency to avoid clicking gold member's pieces as well because it tells them who clicked on what, but anyone of them that actually complains just because you clicked and didn't comment is an idiot. Honestly. Anyway, I wandered here because of the Vera in your screen name. My middle name is Vera. I know it's random, but that's all I wanted to say. Bye.

Seems the only times I open my mouth these days is to

Hope I haven't said or done anything to offend. I'm given to do that sometimes without realizing it.

    Hoping you are doing well.

Ah I went back to where I was looking and found it - an "Onegin stanza".
  • individuality on November 15, 2006
I was looking at your last comment made where you mention Pushkin. I went exploring Aleksandr Pushkin's work and saw some translations of his work, some 14 line formats so looked at one and noted the rhyme scheme etc. I am not sure if this has a particular name to the form? Here is the piece I did, though it is in erotica category, so please do not look if you do not wish to read such verse. But I would value your input here as this is something brand new I have just tried. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your messages and prayers and please forgive my delay in replying, butI have only just got round to checking my author page... The last two weeks have been really exhausting... A whole slew of work and social commitments to be fitted round daily visits to hospital... And my final session of chemotherapy was particularly taxing...

I feel honored that you critiqued my poem. I know full well what you mean when you talk of being tired. I wonder if it is slugs, clumps of blood tissue as we here in the Southern part of the US. say in survivor meetings. Know that I full well and I understand. Sometimes my energy leaves me suddenly and without warning. I still even now have side effects from radiation and therapy. We call it our going to the Dollar General store for panties. I so hope and do pray that you will continue to do well. For some of us we have the Cancer Survivors group. I agree with Tang, my newly found friend. This is the sheer joy of being here at AllPoetry you always have support from the poets here.

Thank you... Yesterday I was discussing with a potential sponsor a book to be published either in 2011 or 2014 (both being significant dates for the subject in question). So I simply DO have to keep going as long as possible!

Hmm.. to answer your question.. yes you can call a male a bitch.. it means that they are weak, wimpy, annoying, etc. And the grammatical error made on line twelve is a typo that I did not notice thank you for your help.
