Just so you know, my absence is not due to my dad this time,, it is my own issue. Do not worry about me, it is an easy fix, just time consuming. Headaches,, they seem to be a part of life, though mine are debilitating.. and it turns out, though I had surgery previously for this, I need to do it again. As wierd as it sounds, I have a fungus that grew in my sinus cavity, they removed it before, but it grew back. I will have surgery again on the 27th of July to try to eliminate this issue. Thank you for asking where I was, and sorry to not have responded,,,, to those who have wondered.. Hope to be okay very soon and to be in touch with all of you again very soon..... Shawn

Hi, your poem on your home page is very cleverly written and a joy to read. If you like funny stories, then have you read Diary if a madman, and other stories by Nikoli Gogal? If not then you are missing out, inparticular The Nose, is so abstract and surreal, it's simply brilliant.

    Hello Wendy,
I've just stumbled on you from one of Mal's fine poems. I'm a friend of hers (FoolNo1)
We share an interest in horses, but in my case it's racehorses.
Here's a poem about one of my horses which had to be put down a couple of years ago. He had a blood clot on his brain.
    I was devastated.

    Montez

    The trainer NEVER rings me,
So I know it must be serious,
"There's a problem with your 'oss,
    I'm afraid he's tekken delirious."

"Well how did this all happen Mark,
    He worked well yesterday?"
"He's cast himself inside his box,
So I rang you right away."

"What kind of state is Montez in?"
But you know from the pregnant pause,
The answer won't be very good,
It's one of those unwritten laws.

There's a 'tremble' now in poor Mark's voice,
I can sense the tear in his eye,
"I don't know how to say this Rob,
But I think he's going to die."

    Well, dumbfounded I just spluttered,
" But Mark he runs at Thirsk,
And you told me only yesterday,
He did a wonderful piece of work!"

"I'm sorry Rob, what can I say,
I think that I'm just cursed,
The vet is 'flying' over now,
But I really fear the worst!"

"Call me when the vet has been,
And Mark, it's not your fault,"
"I'll have another large one Dave,
    And make it double malt!"

    Montez was a gentleman,
    And beautifully bred,
    An athlete, a lovely horse,
    With an aristocratic head.

I waited over half an hour,
    Dreading Brisbourne's call,
And when the phone began to ring,
I turned to face the wall.

Tears were streaming down my face,
    But the lads couldn't see,
Six foot nowt and fifteen stone,
But weak as weak can be.

We cried together Mark and I,
    And don't anybody dare,
    EVER - suggest to me,
    That a trainer doesn't care!

I cried all the way through writing this, and I'm crying now as I read it again. I really loved that big daft horse, and he had so much ability!

So you see, we have something in common - my username is a racehorse, like yours. The Thinker was a wonderful French chaser trained by Thierry Doumen. He won the Grand National (if my memory is correct), which is run today.

Anyway, I just thought I'd pop into your gaff.
    All the best.
    Robin
PS I like your humourous poems.

Think Tank: God I miss you! Work is keeping me really busy. After my raise and promotion the girl that I was supposed to be training with doing her job walked out..so I am having to wing it completely. I've been going in early and staying late. I haven't had time to write or chat or anything. It will calm down, but I do miss my AP family.

Woohoo! Go Wendy! I see all those shiny trophies there! *fumes with envy* Hehe, j/k. Anyway, have you ever hosted a contest? I think you should. It would be fun! And you'd be really good at something like that . I actually want to host one but I only have 400 points right now and don't want to be left with nothing after the contest, hahaha. How are you? How's the quit-smoking thing going? I gotta go. But I'll talk to you later! <3
