    PS. Love Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smiths/Morissey, Ministry, Joy Division, and Pitch Black, the only film that I can think of that shows Muslims in outer space. But Event Horizon scared me senseless. Can't even look at that film again.

    All that you've said is true, and if I spoke it, would get me sent to the American gulag our unwilling Cuban neighbors are hosting. After having studied political science / political history into post graduate studies, I personally find the nation-state, not religion, to be one of the most destructive and genocidal institutions in history. If people only knew the level of bloodshed that existed and the people that were crushed to get Europe with the nice "neat" borders it has today...

    Looking at history it is depressing to note that Hitler was not defeated by the forces of good. He was merely defeated by forces of a different sort of evil. Hitler would have applauded as Winston Churchill delivered his speech that "a stronger race, a higher-grade race, a more worldly wise race to put it that way, has come in and taken their place."

    Saddam Hussein was certainly aware that it was Britain which first used chemical weapons against the Kurds. The UK has no moral right whatsoever stepping foot inside Iraq when their own prime minister in living memory executed the EXACT same crimes against the exact same victims that Saddam Hussein is now being prosecuted for.

    The evil dictators in the world certainly are evil dictators... but the only thing which seems to seperate them from our brave leaders is their degree of success rather than any difference in their moral character.

    Dear David, Thanks for your encouragement and compliments. I am Brazilian, living in Sao Carlos, SP, Brazil. I am hardly fluent in spoken English. But I love poetry and from poetry, sonnets. This is my first sonnet in English, and my second poem in this language. The first is “Hey”, on my AP page, an impromptu writing. The Portuguese sonnet is a bit different from the English one. The last six verses form two tercets, rhymed independently or as a full “sextet”. For exemple: [a-b-a---b-a-b] ; [a-b-c—b-a-c], (a-b-a---a-b-a), (a-b-c – a-b-c), [a-b-b---a-b-b] etc. Again, thanks for your kindness.

    I am stopping by to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and all good things for the coming year. I have enjoyed your poetry so very much and I thank you for that pleasure.

    Though I have read your work for some time now, I have no idea of your age. Usually I can guess the age range of an author after a time of continuous reading but you remain a mystery. There are times in my mind you are a young man of 30 and times you are a seasoned, professor of 60. There is no pinning it down. But the one thing not in question is your gift for poetry. Thank you for sharing that.

    I LOVE YOU!
    I never saw the connection between God and the idea of Big Brother (but of course now it seems as obvious as daylight) and it's so sickenly true.
    And I completely acknowledge the connections between the ideas... almost prophecized by Orwell and what is modern day America....
    Thank you for the note back. I admire your 'tirade' as you call it. I've never been able to express myself politcally and make sense... Thanks for sharing.
    (mmm 'Alone' that's definately one of my favourite works from Poe.)

    I was going to enter your E.A. Poe contest but decided against it. Although, I would like to have your insight on two of my poems. 'The Valley Of The Tears' and 'The Garden Of Eden' were both partly inspired by Poe. I would like to know if they are worth entering into your contest, considering that most contest holders choose pretentious, strung together words over actual poetry as their winners...I'm just curious to see how a seemingly knowledgable poet would view them. I would also like to say that I am in love with the writings of Poe....I expect to be ignored, so I guess I'm doing this for my own pleasure...

    I am kind of new to the site.. and to writing poetry.. but I've read a few of your works (Mostly the Poe-based poems on the contest page.) I am intrigued by your work.. It's very good, you use much more styles than the average poet.. You're absolutely amazing with rhyming.. assonance.. consonance.. I didn't even know what Refrain was until I read your poems, lol. Well, I really wanted to thank you for sharing your work.. and I also have a love for Poe.. Maybe not as strong as yours yet.. as I am only in highschool, however I believe that love will grow with time, and I certainly hope my writing skills grow in time.. as yours did, I can tell. I definitely aspire to one day be able to complete a work that is even within the reach of Poe.. and within the reach of YOUR work as well

    Can I officially worship you now? It's so difficult to find those who list Event Horizon as a favorite movie. Most have never heard of it, and I say shame on them!
