How are you? Your name hasn't come up for at least a couple of days. But I do tend to lose track of time and I've missed lunch to boot!
Take care.

Dear Terry-too,
You have been nominated by a friend to be Hoodwinked by the Poetic Bandits Group.*bandit*
It is our mission to promote good poetry and to lift the spirits of our fellow poets and be an encouragement to all here at AP. May you continue to write your thoughtful poetry here and be a blessing to others.

So glad you're not Decrepit any more.

Terry
I changed my name, but it's so good to see you here!
-
Although this space is for poetry, and I had already answered it presumably at AP School, I can tell you that the answer generally is to SIMPLIFY without loss of meaning.
Add the word "that" (yet another way)
"I can't believe Billy said that! Did he really say that Jessica said Brian is a loser?"
It changes it into an indirect quotation which needs no quotation marks of its own.

Hi Ms. Terry!
I have a question. I actually sent you a message and added a question on your AP class, but I'm not sure if you got them so I'm going to enter it here:
2. Paste examples to show the difference in uses of
. . .quotation marks "
. . .single quotation marks '
. . .[Note, singles can be contained within doubles, but never the other way around. ]
^^
^^
What if you have 3 different sets of quotation marks within eachother? For example:
"I can't believe Billy said that! Did he really say 'Jessica said "Brian is a loser"'?"
That isn't such a good example, but isn't that correct? Wouldn't you put double quotation marks, then single quotation marks, then double again? Or is there another type of symbol we should use? I'm asking you this becuase you mentioned in your note that doubles can never be in singles.
Thank you for your time!!!
And sorry for being persistant

Hi, Terry I stopped by your page to see what you've been up to. Lookd like I need to check out a lot more of your work.
And I want to tell you how much I admire your spunk and courage in all the things which could have brought you down over the years. You're a lady of great strength and compassion.

Terry-too : My April 26 history on August 1, 2008
makes me wonder why I have made powerful enemies. Is it part of the human condition?
-
Terry-too : Defeated by Software, by DeeCrepit and Terry-too. on June 20, 2008
Bah humbug.
I am the author referred-to here, and if I answered
"Why is this author great?" 'a great' would have to be folllowed by "fool!"
Are we not allowed to be truthful?
I AM the author here and just now lost a list of caveats for anyone else who decides to change names.
If you value something, back it up elsewhere.
I felt my name should match the truth, and having been surgically rescued from wheels and canes, selected the name Terry-too.
Result? Do I have to type this again? Deleted, yes.
All record of my existence had vanished from Sharepoetry, every poem that we had worked on to improve was gone from the archive, and MyPage was blank. The friendly comments that IU valued, gone. It hurts. Not that I had died, but friends had also been lost.
A password (the same I had used before) allowed me to see these pages in AP or all by DeeCrepit would have been lost to me. I am not yet sure that the archives exist but --
I have decided to work on my novels in Story-write.
Of three, there is one in its final edit, a 34-chapter children's book, set up as a series of three smaller books. Phat chance that it will sell, but worth the try. But why do I feel so tired?

Terry-too : And Life goes on. on June 20, 2008
I now have two names, both my own.
When surgeries succeeded, and after much physiotherapy, now that I can walk, even trot, up and down stairs and hills like real people, I felt it was time to let my name reflect my new state of wonder. Terry-too fits well.
B I I I G mistake!
One, everything needs a password to get in, matching what it was before, or I would not even have seen DeeCrepit-files. Fair enough.
Two, I discovered everything in Sharepoetry had been deleted. MyPage, the archive, all the comments I valued so much, and miss now. Gone. In the archive used to be the improved versions where friends had helped so much, not saved elsewhere.
That hurts. 'Quebec, My Muse and Me' escaped that, I hope.
I have not gone there to check, but I hope the big archive HERE stll exists. If not, I close the book on DeeCrepit the poet, and settle in to do edits of two complete unpublished novels, and one that got to the ninth chapter. Terry-too the novelist.
Ha! Phat chance, but worth the attempt to sell.
If anyone is tempted to change identities, back up everything before you start. Then it won't matter that even old friends won't know you. Consider all the enemies left behind, and feel free!

Terry-too : Messages "do not send" spam on April 26, 2008
Because I try to send Kevin this message but the box is so narrow it garbles it totally. It is messed here too for the same reason. Narrow box.
Kevin asked me to send a copy of the spam message.
It could not be hi-lighted for copying.
I typed it with is spread-out spacing.
The wide spacing was planned to outwit anyone who tries to IM its format to Kevin. I will send him the message number from my page, where with my luck it will be as garbled as in the IM. Only snail mail would leave its spacing intact.

I was alarmed to see the reference in it to allpoetry.
It becomes far more serious than Kevin thought.
If I had a digital camera, its photo would expose it.
Perhaps someone else will send it.
Now, will "Submit Testimonial" get it too?

Hi I was thinking about you and decided to leave a hello on your page I was looking for a particular poet on my poetry pages and came across the wondefful comment you'd left on Granny's GoGo Boots, so many memories we have, mostly good and even the not so good ones become better with time and we can put them in their proper perspective.
I hope you're doing okay and hey... I need to read some of your poetry, so you should be seeing me either as catz or Granny Goose.

albymyheart : Question about 'double entendre' on January 24, 2008
You commented on Basilisk's poem 'Tuesday's Snow' and said the third line had a double entendre. Can you please tell me what that means? The line read..."Frosting on the lawn." Thanks, alby.

ecrivain01 : This is also great: on October 14, 2007
It is so patently true.
Histoire brisée
Hélas, il n'y a rien à dire,
cet endroit est un peu pire
que nous l'avions entendu.
Beaucoup nous reste suspendu
sans nos amis qui, disparus,
ne seront jamais avec nous.
If you understood these words,
written in français brisé,
you would see how few rewards
are where all have gone away.
But time passes, il s'enfuit
sans aucun mot, et sans bruit.
The end of things no whimper gives
yet love remains behind and lives.
Author notes
In French titles, only the first word has a capital. This is a quiet lament, after a group disperses.
Rhyming in French, especially for Rien sans toi.
About to disappear in last position below, is the translation, transplanted here:
Broken Story
Alas, there is nothing to say,
this site is a bit worse
than we thought it to be.
Such a lot remains suspended
without our friends who, disappeared,
will never be with us.
français brisé,--- broken French
But time passes, il s'enfuit--
it ran off
sans aucun mot, et sans bruit.
without a word and soundlessly.
(It's better in French)
I'm glad I found you again. After my computer crash, I lost track of nearly everyone.

Though time and age may warp our feeble frame,
limbs fail, our hearing wane and sight grow dim,
yet if the mind and memory remain,
love will stay strong, as will our faith in Him.

Good morning Terry! I'm thrilled that your surgery has been so successful that you are ready to try again!!
We are 7 hours ahead of you here, so already it is 1 pm. We have no idea when our stuff will arrive; we are living with what we carried here in suitcases, and the basic household materials from the embassy. Still, each day is better than the one before.
-
And early morning greetings to you too!
I do not usually go online at 5 AM, but glad I did. Worth it today! Have marking to do, mostly.
About "improving" --yes, the pain levels are 'way down, no longer needing heroic measures, and walking is easier too.
On Sep 12, another Toronto trip to find out where we go from here. I hope they will "do" the other leg too--nice to have a matching set. (How soon we forget...)
I hope your household will soon be settled!

Help is on the way, earthstar, if the e-mail address you sent me still works. I am glad I can. Of course the college cannot help-- I suspect you "don't fit the guide lines" because they have no one there who knows how or else has the time. I have had good results tutoring a boy with severe brain damage, and he soon will not need me anymore.
I am watching e-mail at tmatt @vianet.ca because that is the way to go. Larger text...

Perhaps you don’t remember me although I remember you... you once gave an advice that has been so good for my life, "there will never be enough time, nor the right time to do something, so in that case just do it"... or something like that
thanks

I came summoned by
words on the fly
stopped in my tracks
to you coming back.
I had to flit
to see your writs
after you did say
more than I pray.
Flying with a question
and not an inquisition
do you perceive, believe
why Pixies sometimes grieve?

Hello,
I hope you don't mind me calling in this way but I have just noticed the class for punctuation ( I am very late ) I was wondering whether it would be possible to consider my application for your next class?. My punctuation is in dire need of some assistance, much to the detriment of any poetry I submit.
Many thanks

Terry you rock. Dee's nice too And I am with ya both ladies! My eyes may not be too old, but they sure can't stand some of these neons and the other weird combos. Personally, I like pink. Think pink
Terry I didn't know all that Above. I am SO glad you are here. Honestly, you give a lot to the site in every way possible but shoot you're just cool to have around and I love your verbosity Just passing thru....
-
Terry, what a nice surprise finding your reply to my message adorning my front page when I logged on this morning And I do appreciate you taking time to answer my own message in such detail.
It seems we do indeed share a lot in common and your friendship will, I'm certain, be a rewarding and enjoyable one.
My own baby just turned 41 years of age in December, my oldest boys will be 50 and 49 in a couple of weeks, my oldest daughter is 46 and my youngest son soon be 44... wow.. putting that all together is a bit scarey...lol
Now I must get to work here ...but look forward to another visit
 Dee
