    Happy Father's Day...
  • Broken-Rickie on June 1
I hear you, I hear your voice in the wind it's faint but there, remember me it says from the wind, remember me as i was and as i am now, remember the happiness and not the sorrow, remember the good times and not the bad, look to the future and I will still be there, look to the stars and you will see me, please don't forget about me, I wont I say back as the wind blows around me as if hugging me........ I ponder the possibility of living life like it says but still remembering it....... I wonder if anybody out there is thinking the same thing........ so i reach out to you and extend my had to you my brothers and sisters from around the world..........and if you agree with me post this on your page or send it to someone else and extend your hand to others out there.

Written by a great friend of mine that I was stationed with: I love you Dawson! You my brother and my inspiration!

    My Daddy (AmericanInIraq)
My daddy is in a far away place
    I'm hoping he'll stay safe
    To come home soon
    To a well known place

My daddy is special to me
    As you could probably see
    But he gives me advice
Even the kind I don't wanna hear

My daddy is a great man
Who never turns his back on anyone
And who is willing to listen
    Or to just joke with

My daddy is a great writer
    Better than most I've seen
    All about humor and love
    Or war and death

    My daddy is so awesome
For I may not ever meet him
    But he's a great man
That stays within my heart and thoughts
    Author notes

This is for my AP Daddy. Many of you know him. He's Ex-Air Force, but nothing can change the fact he served and still does! He's currently a contractor over in Iraq!

  • klassy lassy : Thank you...thank you. on August 7, 2007
I was so surpised to see Joyce Kilmer's poem, Trees, on your author page. I says so much about life, and I was thinking about the first lines of that poem as I drove home though forested hills Sunday afternoon. Trees have an overwhelmingly spiritual essence...I wanted the words to that poem, but did not know the author or the title, only the first line.

I'm looking forward to seeing your spirit a little more through these pages. ~ K

Dear American In Iraq (Charlie is your name as I found out)

I have read your author page. I’m interested in the book you are writing.
I agree with you that what rise from the hearts goes to hearts.
Sorry to be too curious but are you in Iraq as a soldier? Anyway I hope you and all Iraqis safeness.
  • Cynthia Gaines on October 25, 2006
Hi AmericanInIraq! Glad to see you have new poetry up tonight, it was a pleasure to read them all. And I'm thrilled you've posted 'Silent One' here on your front page, along with 'Behind the Mask' which is where I no longer am. And I can see you very clearly... You are a romantic at heart and an extra special angel of Heaven. I wish you all the best in life and love forever!! Thank you for taking the time to read my poems. Take care - Lee
  • CookieZeal on October 22, 2006
By the way, it's refreshing to see that someone loves Joyce Kilmer's poem. It's always been one of my favorites. There's the song too, do you recall it?
  • CookieZeal on October 22, 2006
Sooooooooo very proud of you, and what a testimony you can bring to the world. As I might've shared before, my husband was in Viet Nam, and I think there are so many things he endured that will never be able to be translated to the world. It will have to be a kind of language only those who've surrendered willingly the time it took for a celebrity to climb the charts, ..........only you don't have to maintain status for folks to remember you. The real folks, that is.

    A wonderful page!
