To provide a most likely unwanted answer to what was probably a rhetorical question:

I think the reason that the taste of penny reminds one of losing teeth is that one tastes iron-rich blood when a tooth is lost, and pennies probably have a little iron mixed in with their copper and lead. Furthermore, everyone knows what pennies taste like.
