    Hi Margaret,

Yes the verses of Hafez are inspiring and full of wisdom. Thanks for letting me know about the other book.

    -Sau.
  • MargaretG on June 14, 2005
How wonderful to see Hafez' wisdom here. They included that poem in their next book on Hafez as well, Hafez: Teachings of the Philosopher of Love.

Crackers would light up the place, and also help ward off the silence with some exciting shrills. But be a little cautious, little bro...
  • Yemassee on May 1, 2005
I usually leave snacks out for my guests...also a drink of some kind. All I see is a glass of water and it looks like it's been here a while. Maybe a few crackers would be nice.

Hi Sau, want to wish you a great weekend!
  • Tattered Dignity on February 23, 2005
Thanks for your coment....your haiku was really good too.
  • NoIQ on February 19, 2005
LOL -- it turns out your request is somewhat harder than I would have imagined. I just did a search of AP, and there appear to be exactly TWO examples on the system. Fortunately, one belongs to one of the masters (i.e. Andrew Hide), the other to, let's just call him something else with NoIQ

    allpoetry.com/Poem/519022
    allpoetry.com/Poem/1069672

On the web, I found two more examples, though one is in Cambodian. However, both links provide excellent discussions/tutorials on how to write the form -- in point of fact, they are how I learned of it

    Hi,
Thank you so much for dropping by. I love reading and writing haiku, though I do not consider myself very skillful at the latter.
This is the first time I am hearing of the Pathya Vat. Well, if you think I can try one, I would be enthusiastic in giving a shot. Could you share a few examples of the form, if possible?
    Best wishes,
    Saurabh.
  • NoIQ on February 19, 2005
Saurabh: I was reading through your poetry and was struck by your skill and love of haiku, including variations thereof. You might want to try your hand at the similar Cambodian form Pathya Vat. It has just four lines, each of only four-syllables, with the second and third lines rhyming. One major difference between haiku and pathya vat is that the latter is sung, and can (and is intended to be) strung into longer forms. It's just a suggestion, because you strike me as someone who could really impose your skills on the form (which is far less known to Westerners than is haiku). Anyway, just my two cents -- I enjoyed reading your poetry.
