Love the inspiration of your page, Char. I collect quotes myself and coming to your page there are so many that are inspiring for a poem in itself--You can be sure I'll return to again...
Though I had heard the Rudyard Kipling poem before, it was to recall it coming to your page...

Poem by Rudyard Kipling
(Following the story "Elephant's Child" in "Just So Stories")
I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.
I send them over land and sea,
I send them east and west;
But after they have worked for me,
I give them all a rest.
I let them rest from nine till five,
For I am busy then,
As well as breakfast, lunch, and tea,
For they are hungry men.
But different folk have different views;
I know a person small
She keeps ten million serving-men,
Who get no rest at all!
She sends em abroad on her own affairs,
From the second she opens her eyes
One million Hows, Two million Wheres,
And seven million Whys!

Thank you for the insight and for sharing with me what a tipi is and the various different tipi and all about them. Awaiting your invite to join the group on MSN.
I watched the movie WOLF today on tv. I was trying to learn about what is a wolf really like, amazingly earlier in the day I saw the picture of a wolf sipping water from a pond. I never knew that wolves are basically shy. I always thought they were wild and dangerous, but when I looked in the eyes of the wolf, I felt it was very spiritual in a strange way and not harmful or something to be frightened off.
Hugs and Love,
Your Daughter

Dear Daughter, you asked in your comment what a tipi was and it was the home of the ancient american indians, usually made of buffalo or deer skins sewn together with leather thongs and placed upon crisscrossed poles to form a circular cone shaped lodging. Here is where the family slept and lived together. The tribes consisted of many of these structures arranged in a large circle. At the fartherest end, usually in the North section was the great lodge, much larger than the others that the chief would hold council with the warriors and the Shaman. there was also another lodge specifically for the women during their moontime. There were also tipis that were used for sweat lodges when someone wanted to cleanse their spirit and meditate uon things that they might need an answer about from Spirit. These are the teachings of my people. Hope this gives you some insight as to what my beleif entails. The Sacrements that you spoke of are basically like the Ten Commandments of the Bible but written especially for Indians..much like the the teachings of Budhism or Hinduism. It doesn't matter what words are used, it is still about following the basics of Respect, Honor, Truth and Love.
Blessings and am looking forward to you joining us soon.
Love,
Mom

Hi there.
Thought I'd drop by your page after reading your Little Johnny Haiku, and was very ed, and happily surprised to see a link here to the column I wrote about using poetic devices.
How lovely of you to put a link on here, and with such kind words too. Thanks so much for that, and for the laugh you supplied me this morning with the escapades of Little Johnny.
Take care.

Dear Joy,
I was just going to say hi and message you and I got your message I am ok, just a little worried(I will IM you). Mom is better. We spoke on the 25th. Her blood test is on the 4th of September. Do keep her in your thoughts and prayers. I understand you may have got very busy with Rob's treatment. No worries. I have missed you but I understand Big hug to Rob and to you. The other family is ok too. I did IM you on the 17th...the old lady for whom you said you would let me know about the Reiki passed away on that day...her son is still in India and her grand daughter is also there. Her DIL is here and we(bro and me) take care of her in every way we can. You don't have to ever apologise to me. I feel so little in comparison to your brightness. BIG BIG HUG..

nah it's got 7 I made sure cuz change(1) a(2) heart(3) to(4) un(5)der(6)stand(7) It was meant to be hard to read. To go with the point of the poem as people are hard to "read" that's the only reason I used the horrid background and color sceme lol. <3 Thank You for commenting. *Jo*

The old lady's son's name is Sanjay Saxena.
His wife's name is Lata Suxena.
I will ask her and let you know the name of the old lady. I've never met her and they always refer to her as "Mom" or "Sanjay's mother", so I will ask her when I meet her in the afternoon and let you know by night.
thank you, bigggggggg hug

Oh my Joy!!!
How wonderful to see you as soon as I wake up! Thank you for bringing the sparkle into my morning. Sure this will be a terrific day!!! Missed your wonderful presence around AP for a long time. I am so glad you are back. BIG hug!! Don't go away too long. How is your son? He is in my thoughts and prayers. I thought of you the other day..One of my family friends is in hospital for a month now. She has pneumonia, a patch in the lung, she is also a Blood pressure patient and has Alzeimers(sp?) and she is really suffering they tell me. She is in Mumbai, India and her son is with her looking after her. His wife is all alone here and we (my bro and myself) take care of her through this hard time. It's really sad that her mother-in-law is going through so much and I was wondering if I could request you to send her some Reiki energy. Perhaps to the whole family? But is that possible? Or would it be only possible to send 1 person? If the latter, then the old lady in hospital really needs it. I feel sad when I hear this son of the old lady say, "God is so mean, why isn't He listening to our prayers. Either he make Mom completely alright or take her away." I feel real bad for them all. His wife only wishes for the death of her mom-in-law. Her husband had to leave his job here and go to India to be with his mom. His sister in the US is on verge of divorce and too busy to come down. All so sad! I was just hoping that you would be able to send them some Reiki energy across the miles.
A big warm hug,
Charishma

Yes Mom, I am thankful that they saw the light at last Thank you for reconfirming the syllabic count. What I have gathered at the end of the whole discussion on this topic since morning is that some pronounce fire and our as 2 syllables, but some as 1 and in American English it differs from English English(British English) and hence all the confusion...What I have also learnt is that it can sound different(some say it as 'fy-er and 'ow-er' not 'fire' and 'our') and hence the judges must consider that when they decide before disqualifying anyone's poem. Both aspects must be considered and I am pleased that Red Red Rose understood this. God Bless her.
((hug))
-
Dear Daughter, I got your message and agree that "our" and "fire" are one syllable. I see where they allowed you back into the contest, so I guess you are pleased. If they are really serious about the poetry, then they need to be absolutely sure about everything before even commenting. I am not an expert so cannot say for sure if they were incorrect or not. That is why we have dictionaries and theasaurus.

Dearest Kay,
I am glad you came by my page Most welcome back, anytime. Looking forward to your comments on my poems. You are not intruding at all, this is what AP is all about, isn't it? Learning, making new friends, discovering wonderful forms, participating in contests, being encouraged and encouraging others, and much more..You are always welcome.
Love,
Charishma

Wow, just reading your homepage has touched me, I can't wait to read your poetry..
Sorry if I seem intruding; you left me a comment on my poem "Covetous Tornado" and I wanted to read some of your writes.
I hope you don't mind if I read through some of your poems and leave comments if my will longs to.
Thank you for the comment you left, and thank you for inspiring me.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my page
By the way, the plural of haiku is haiku and not haikus.

Thank you

Thanks for the comment on my page, it's really very sweet of you. I was born under Cancer. What gives you the impression it was one of those other two signs I was born under? Just curious because I think that is very interesting that you would have a guess, not many people are actually into astrology and horoscopes. Thanks for the help making Haiku's with the Movie Technique, I am still working on it, but I think I am starting to get the hang of it. Tink
