    PIXIKU
(wild child of Haiku and Senryu Poetry)

Pixiku is the wild child of Haiku and Senryu poetry invented by poet SEA angel. A short original personal quote (thought) of wisdom, humor, knowledge, moral, life experience or beauty etc. that YOU thought of set up any way you want to in THREE lines.

In a Pixiku the writer breaks his/her thought or quote or inspiration into three lines with breaks where writer, not syllables, decides will stress main points of message or image he/she wants reader to see. Often within the freedom of a Pixiku a writer might end up with a traditional or contemporary Haiku or Senryu as like with all offspring there can be resemblance to one's parents.

Since a Pixiku is all encompassing all u's are welcome here.  Unlike a Haiku or Senryu, you CAN capitalize first letter in each line in a Pixiku and a Pixiku can be OVER 17 syllables without a syllable limit of 5, 7, 5 for each line.

    Hi Sea!!!!
Haven't seen you around as much-or maybe I haven't been on as much-but how the heck are you? Seeing your name reminds me again that I need to hold another contest using my favorite form you developed.
Hope you are doing well-I imagine you are staying pretty busy. Can't remember if you have kids at home still or not-if you do, I imagine they are back in school now-so things should get back to normal, whatever that is, lol.
Take care and the Lord bless you each and every day and all that you do or put your hand to.~vj♥

Thank you so much for the comment on my poem "Until Again". I haven't read it in such a long time and so for me I could remember writing it. I'm happy you enjoyed it so much and yes I know he is with my every single day and yes even though he wasn't physically here with me when I graduated from high school, he was there in spirit. Thanks again so much.

  • BaruchAdonai on May 17, 2006
Hmm... Joel Osteen, huh? I've heard of him, seen his book in the Christian book stores, haven't read him, though. I came to your author page to see if you were a Jesus-follower. Signs point to yes, which is cool! Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in your pixiku contest. It really was a pleasure because I had to ask the LORD what words I live by, and He supplied the fodder for the poem. Credit where it's due, then :-D Have a blessed day!
  • SEA angel on April 18, 2006
Essentially the difference between a Pixiku and a Haiku and Senryu is no syllabic count is required in three lines. Although contemporary Haiku and Senryu are 17 syllables or less allowing more freedom as opposed to traditional 5, 7, 5 respectively in three lines. Contemporary is 5, 7, 5 or less per line yet neither exceed 17 syllables.

Contrastingly, A Pixiku is three lines of poetry just like a Haiku or Senryu yet all encompassing without a syllabic count and as well can either be about nature or not.

I use to lose my train of thought paying so much attention to syllable count in Haiku and Senryu so I invented Pixiku. Also, I thought much to do about big deal made if first letter in line capitalized.

So... doesn't matter if first letter of each line in upper or lower case and why Pixiku is called the wild child of Haiku and Senryu

In a Pixiku: the writer breaks his/her thought or quote or inspiration into three lines with breaks where writer decides will stress main points of message or image he/she wants reader to see. Often within the freedom of a Pixiku a writer might end up with a traditional or contemporary Haiku or Senryu as like with all offspring there is resemblance to their parents. Thus, some times while writing a Pixiku, since Wild Child of Haiku and Senryu, you can end up with a contemporary or traditional Haiku or Senryu grandbaby being born.

    SEA Angel,
I just came to your page again as I was going through my comments and noticed ones you had made to me. As I looked through your home page and read the things that are important to you I notice they are important to me also. I have a poem I'd like you to read, It might come in handy to use if you find someone in need of a friend. And since I'm 14 it might let people my age know they are not alone. I am sending a link to you and you may use it as you see fit if you want to.

Thank you for the comment you left on my poem "Angel" I'm glad you liked it. It was written with MY angel in my thoughts as he is everyday. But it's probably not what you think. I am 14 so this is about my uncle joe who passed two years ago. But I'm glad people can read it and apply it to anyone they might have lost. Thank you again!
