Been reading / perusing some more of your shtuff...just havn't the time to comment in depth presently...head-up-arse type philosophy. When I've got some spare time I'll be back ! Talented person you are.

you must think very highly of yourself to put in all of the comments on you in your author page...!
  • CookieZeal on June 25, 2007
I loved Jeff Buckley's music. Cohen'
"Hallelujah". So poignant from his expression!

    Hello there!
  • Blondita on May 15, 2007
Thanks for your meaningful comment, it was genuinely appreciated. I will return to read some of your work soon when I next sign onto AP :-).
  • bethan-gaze : Deeper than deep ... on May 4, 2007
I am mesmerized by your 'braying' poems ... you tie the reader in knots with your writing. There's an honesty that weaves its way throughout the lines in a very straightforward and almost 'in your face' way which is very appealing but the poems are not meant to be surface read ... they're too deep for that. Peel away the layers and there's a wealth of emotion and sensitivity not too far from the surface. Fabulous writing.
  • Rof Cau on October 21, 2006
aaah yes, "I can see clearly now the rain has gone". Yep, hair should grace shoulders and help eyes tease....
Thanks Myra. As always you're the inspiration behind all this. Your latest contest haiku... wow!
  • myrataal on October 21, 2006
    Hallo you wonderful guy --

I saw your question on my page.

Now -- let me try to explain:

The traditional haiku is three lines with syllabic count 5-7-5; but as the Western syllabic count differs from that of the East, the western haiku has variations: it may be whatever syllabic count -- as long as the total count is not more than 17 syllables. But even in this respect some poets differ. I think in the end the MOST important thing to remember about the haiku, senryu (people-related) or tanka is that there is NOT much of cerebral intervention: the poet reflects observations of nature, which in essence capture a moment in time, seasonally related (winter, summer etc.) to arrive at an instinctive "understanding" or cosmic awareness. Within a small moment the Universe may be defined WITHOUT explanation. The reader applies the elements INSTINCTIVELY to a universal "KNOWING" --

    e.g.

    white
    spring announces itself
    in snowflowers

    syllabic count: 1-6-3

    owls
    outside my window
    a winterwind howls

    syllabic count: 1-5-5

    pandemonium
    hadidas in springflower beds
    two crows fighting

    syllabic count: 5-8-4

This actually took place in front of my eyes yesterday! You will see movement, sound and wordplay in this short poem; also survival of the fittest, destruction within new life, interactivity amongst birds. Nature has its moments.

And now a PURISTIC senryu especially for you:

    rof cau's endearment
takes the ribbon from your hair
    now forever free

    syllabic count: 5-7-5

    I hope this clarify things.

    Love

    Myra

in future "please" would be welcomed, please. If you'd read you'd note it was in reply to your "debate" / "discussion" on Hoppalong's pages.

The rest, I sincerely hope, you can figure out yourself.

    Rof~

Everytime I stop by here, the more sad I become. The longer you stay away, the bigger your absence feels.

Just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year.

I just entered a contest which one of the requirements was to comment on a bunch of the hosts poems. You know me and my wordy ways. I earned a whole bunch of points.

So since you have been away for awhile, I will bet not many have visited your beautiful poetry. And since I have all these points that I never use, I do believe I will go and promote some of your beauty. That way when you return, you will be busy returning endless comments and you will stick around LOL

Stay safe my friend. You are in my prayers and my thoughts. I am missing your inspiration

Still haven't returned?? Sigh. You better be alright Rof that is all I am going to say

    I heard this the other day and I remembered that YOU had reminded me how much I love it. So I will leave it here for you for when you return. {you better return}

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
    And think of you
    Caught up in circles confusion
    Is nothing new
    Flashback warm nights
    Almost left behind
    Suitcases of memories,
    Time after

    Sometimes you picture me
    I'm walking too far ahead
    You're calling to me, I can't hear
    What you've said
    Then you say go slow
    I fall behind
    The second hand unwinds

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
    Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
    Time after time

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
    Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
    Time after time

After my picture fades and darkness has
    Turned to gray
    Watching through windows you're wondering
    If I'm OK
    Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
    Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
    Time after time

    You said go slow
    I fall behind
    The second hand unwinds

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
    Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
    Time after time

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
    Time after time
If you fall I will catch you I'll be waiting
    Time after time

    Time after time
    Time after time
    Time after time

Hi Rof! I keep thinking about what I said about Elvis and Clay Aiken being soul singers. I know the way they sing doesn't compare to the real 'soul singers' but, Elvis did and Clay does put his heart and soul into the songs he sings. That is what I really meant to say.

I pray for your safety and hope you are okay. Hope to hear from you again someday.

    Miss you!

I've missed seeing you here. By the way, where the heck are you? Rockets and roadside bombs? This doesn't sound good.
Hummmm... Guess I'll have to write you a poem.

  • Rof Cau on September 12, 2004
Aah, DD, I am so sorry to disappoint. I am working on some stuff and it will be here soner rather than later. It is a bit hard writing while dodging rockets and roadside bombs you know. ;-) Thanks for your avid reading though. Makes me feel good!!!
  • -Dawn- on September 11, 2004
    Sigh

I come on by here to see if you might have a new piece of poetry up here...I am looking for something to read.

Sadly I will leave now with my tail between my legs.

Write something for me soon Rof...you don't write nearly enough.

This I must say is one of the grestest speeches in history.

St. Crispen's Day Speech: William Shakespeare, 1599
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Enter the KING

WESTMORELAND. O that we now had here
But one ten thousand of those men in England
    That do no work to-day!

KING. What's he that wishes so?
    My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin;
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
    Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
    It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more methinks would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
    And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is call'd the feast of Crispian.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
    But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
    This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
    This day shall gentle his condition;
Make him a member of the gentry, even if he is a commoner.
    And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

    Before the Battle of Agincourt,
    25 October 1415

    Shakespeare
    Henry V, Act 4, Scene 3
