malkinpuss on September 16, 2004I was driven to say that I was exactly like you. I showed barely a soul anything I wrote and for years threw out or abandoned literally thousands of poems. It has only beenin the last 10 years that I have begun to keep my writing in any organized state. I still do not show a lot to others which is why I am enjoying this site so much as it gives me a certain amount of anonymity with the exposesure. Poetry is mind music my brain responds to. I really admire your work.
-
malkinpuss on September 14, 2004Hey thanks for the kind words. We prairie folk sure do know that feeling don't we! I was flattered that you picked up on the coldness I was trying to evoke.

Inexpressible on April 15, 2004Just saying hi! You capture all I've ever tried to capture in a poem! I've only really just started writing poetry, and usually my inspiration comes from a quote (I have a quote book) or another poem. I'd fit into this category :
'Every Artist is a cannibal
Every Poet is a thief
All kill their inspiration
And then sing about the grief'
But as for you, you're more what the other artists cannonbalise, the other poets thieve, and the inspiration itself...what else can I say? You express the inexpressible! -
one cut deeper on April 14, 2004Good job. Your really good! Keep it up!!!!!

Dawnknight on April 13, 2004Thanks for the comment on "The Fall" I admit that it is okay but when handing it in to a class I would like for it to be perfect. But thanks for your opinion that hightens my self-esteem.

Ghost on January 3, 2004Wow, thanks. I'm flattered, and thank you for the comments on my poems as well. I'm always open to both critisism and praise (but I don't think it's any question which I prefer though
) Thank you also for giving Asheton a confidence in her poetry that I've been desperately trying to give her since I first read her work. Obviously she was just thinking I was being nice. But again, thanks.

tee hee......I made your list. thank you!! -
Ghost on January 2, 2004Thank you for sharing your thoughts, ideas, dreams, and soul with everyone. I know exactly how hard that is. Putting your soul online is a big risk for your own comfort and emotional safety. Thanks for taking that leap of faith that others will accept you and your feelings. I, for one, do. Here's a home-made quote for you:
"We always have had a choice in where our life will take us. That's not the question. Whether fate decides to give us what our heart desires or not is what it truely comes down to."

Seretje Verre on December 9, 2003I enjoy your comments very much. They're quite astute and bring to the table a very different and much appreciated perspective.
-
Razors-Edge on November 29, 2003I remember reading that Franz Kafka asked that all his works be burned with his death. He wanted nothing left to gift the world. Yet, his words are here and very powerful. I have never thought much of my words. They spill out and escape. Sometimes I feel by saving them I am freezing their freedom. They need to live, to run, and to be free. Yet, you are right they are an amazing way of charting our progress and our life.
-
Seretje Verre on November 29, 2003Although I'm glad you're saving your poetry now, it's really a wonderful thing to be able to let go of art, realize that it's not ours to keep and collect and cower over. It reminds me of the Buddhist monks who create beautiful mandalas out of sand, and upon finishing them, they destroy the mandala by pouring the sand into a flowing river, so that the positive energies and balance from the mandala will flow into the world. On the other hand (and this is particularly true with stream of consciousness writings), it can be an amazing learning experience to write and save, and then read years later. I've done that and had some pretty eerie experiences with seeming forethought emerging from my old words.
