For my money, so far as Vampyree goes, the Necroscope series carries more import than Anne Rice, but both are great (not having read of the True Blood). Beyond both of those, of course, be Baudelaire, available in good translation, preferably with the French original beside it, "les Fleurs du Mal" in particular.

So far as classic authors go, William Balke's shorter poems and Percy Bysshe Shelley's, both long and short, may stand you well in search of.

And then there be Comte de Lautreamont, "Maldoror", who subsumes and transcends, if not both, then at least the first category.

I must say, that I was over-thrilled by your author page just as I was by your featured poem,
You seem like a wise person..
I too am a fan of disturbed,
I like their "darkness",
and a METAL FAN too,
but mostly in for the classic rocks...(and country music throws me off)
anyway,
I liked your quotes,
and now I am even more eager to add you as favourite..

By the way I liked your line of..reading and knowing what poetry is before writing,

I say we got to know the rules before breaking them
I like rythming, frankly more than free verse..
but recently I have been having thoughts...
I have seen a lot of awesome free-versed poems, (and especially yours),
I have written quite a few myself,
and I think I am back in action...

I liked what you said about (Poe)...
he's one of my favourites,
and I have quite a collection of his work as well,
I liked (The fall of usher's house) the most.

All in all,

great page, Darkest, but you know what impressed me most? That in this first few words posted on your page, a link to your little sister's page here on AP was posted...It shows a lot of caring and compassion for another, whether she be your real-life or AP sister--(somehow I'm tending to think real-life)!

Reading this page is to feel to know so much of you, that which you appreciate reading in the way of poetry and music and even Broadway musicals!
