I haven’t known you very long

what my heart feels can’t be wrong.

I’ve read the words you’ve written down

they’ve made me smile, they’ve made me frown.

You’ve soon become a part of me

you have a thirst to know, and see.

    Many questions you will ask

to answer them will be my task.

You call me ‘Mum’ that’s how I feel,

the joy it brings I can’t conceal.

You are my ‘Son’ but not by birth,

our caring love brings so much mirth.

I’ll always be here should you need

a hand to hold, a voice to heed.

You read my words and say I’m wise,

but I have lived and these blue eyes

have seen a lifetime full of love,

and with the grace of God above

I’ll impart my thoughts to you

as you grow and live your lifetime through

This is a poem to my son Nyasha, with love from his Mum. xxx

  • katina : Dedication to a great Poet and Friend on April 29, 2007
    Dear Nyasha Musimwa,

When I look out into the setting sun
day changes to an outcast pond of
    slow simmering dreams, the shades
no need to be drawn, for it is night
yet I can still see your face. .

A voice in my heart, I hear when
you call out my name. Nyasha you will
always have a friend in me. We share
a view of this world that is begging to be
led out and shared with those who reveal
    cutting doubt.

Days we talk, share our dreams and of those who
fail to believe. Unlike the vows that are spoke,
written down or, allowed. A world, a land,
a community so different than my own.
Unlike what we share, is totally free.

I am learning what it means to be
shunned in close quarters with those
whom should already believe. They grew up
in a land that has grown with the work
    of rough hands.

Begging for peace and the ability to live as free.
To share our words with the world
without haste, nor fuss and to know
there are people who will stand up for us
in times as this. To know that we are loved
no matter what, to feel important,
    important enough.

I look up at the night sky’s stars and wish
that I could find a way to lend you my strength .
Yesterday I felt so much the same,
until you lent me your thoughts and dreams.
Picking my sprits up as no other can.
For that my friend ,we will always be,
just a sky scrapper away in a world of dreams.

Share your words and keep the faith,
for it will help bring the heart closer to
Gods Green Earth. Continue your work by
reaching out to the youth, they are apart of
    each one of us.

Just remember that no matter how tough life becomes,
There are many lives, you have
    greatly touched.

    Your friend,
    Katina
  • Lorot : Musimwa is a Man of Verses! on April 27, 2007
I am in deep love with the poetry that Musimwa, henceforth I nickname Man of Verses, crafts. It's always melodious, well crafted and always enchanting.

I congratulate you, Man of Verses, for the new poetry book A Walk in Verse. I have the invaluable copy and I enjoy every bit of it. From In Memory of Farai to On the Road to Emmaus to Dad Never said Goodbye.

Man of verses, we are waiting for another book-- keep them coming!

Thank you for taking the time to send me a message. I have returned the favor of reading your bio page and I am truly impressed. If this poem "I Write" is an example of what is in your book I look forward to seeing more. It is an excellent poem, heart felt and beautifully written. The only thing I would change is I think you meant (beacon) in "I became a bacon on a hill" other than that pefection. Keep Writing and I will keep reading. God Bless

    Hello,

I just noticed you and I are brother and sister, adopted by the same person (IbeBeccky). Don't think she told me she took on more kids! I'm Raven, the melancholy sister. Nice to meet your acquaintance. I will have to read up on some of your work one day, and hope to get to know you a little bit better than this.

    Many blessings,

Oh my! The poem "I write" just takes my heart in its beauty! "I am violet under moss" Sigh... Your poems are indeed a part of you, and I love what you see! and I love your truthful heart. Karen
  • BluRosePoet8488 on October 12, 2005
When I get time... I will definitely come and read some of your writes. You sound like an interesting fellow. Your sweet words are mellow. I like the poem you open your bio with. "I Write". I agree with that. I shall return in time to read some of your rhyme. Until then... Keep your angel by your side and keep the ink flowing til we all arrive at home on high. Love and hugs...
    ~Donna~
    P. S. I'm adding you to my favorites list as well.

just that- the words are so directive it makes no sense to say it all that way. its the mark of an egomaniac trying to impress others with words
