    good evening ms. trick,

I was trying to figure out why more people don't read you, since you're so good. Maybe it's that you don't comment much, relative to the number of poems you've posted. Anyhow, that's not a complaint, I just wish more people would read you. I go around now and then saying "have you read Ms. Trick? you should read Ms. Trick."

    Cheers, m'dear.

that does sound very poetic, but you're probably right. You couldn't do it Sunday mornings, could you? But I could work with Saturday. We don't have to do it, but it'd be fun.

then no, I don't think that's mine. weird, though. wonder whose it is...?

Oh college. I'm about to embark on a happy scheduling frenxy, in which I figure out where I'm visiting before Early Decision II (which, hopefully, I'll use). It's all so surreal. I can't believe we won't be here next September.

And I wouldn't say that I'm a Harry/Luna fan persay...I mean, I'm not making buttons or anything. I think I just thought that he would do well with her, and honestly? I like Ginny too much to be saddled with him. He's quite the handful, apocalypticly speaking, but I think Luna wouldn't mind at all.

^^^ what does that actually mean?

anyway. yeah, sad stories like these always make for good conversation fodder once we hit college or something (which, by the way, is still terrifying). Which one is left, again? Luna? You should get her another friend named, oh I dunno, Harry? (so I'm not for the relationship JKR went with. can't say you are exactly either, hehe)

little green journal? hmmm...I don't think I did, but I could be wrong. Is it just green? Nothing else on it? I don't see why I would've brought something like that, but it could haave happened I suppose.

Oh, by the way, the basic of satanism means worship yourself, Do what thou will, I used to be a satanist, until I found Satan.

I'm coming back on saturday (2 days!) so the same day you're getting back, but I still might send you a letter...it'll just get there later. thank you for your letter, it made my day (and I'm not just saying that!)

I really, really like this: "When I'm not writing, I'm a memory." It reminds me of my favorite book (Neverness, Zindell). Anyway, I had to check out the bio of the person who came up with the contest I've entered. Thought I'd drop a line.
  • pepper this on June 17, 2005
ooh, a bookstore! that'd be awesome. d'you mean a small one, or a big one like barnes and noble?
  • Ms. Trick on June 17, 2005
Ouch. I took Chem last year and blatantly made up answers. Bio this year wasn't too bad, though.

Eh, I didn't really want to work at the ice cream place. I'm hoping to work in some bookstore but I really have no plan as of now.

    love laura
  • pepper this on June 17, 2005
meh, I've got FOUR FINALS...I had 2 APs, but they were both electives, so that doesn't help me any. Chem will be a complete and utter crapshoot, so I'm looking foward to making words with my answers....CAB...BAD...CAD...you get the picture.

oh right, you were going to work at the ice cream place? You should still try for it, it could be fun.

merci pour le conseil...trust me, if I did a contest like that, I'd ASK you to shoot me....or drop me in a pit of festering, rabid lobsters...or something equally terrible. yeesh.

Will come up with a theme, I think....but a GOOD theme. I LOVE your Raw Topic contests, by the way, I think they're awesome.

    Can't wait for Dorney!!!

hi tricky! thought i'd pop in and see how you're doing ^^ keep up the great work ^^
  • sybaritic on May 23, 2005
I like your writing. And I'm not saying that just because I entered your contest. I'd say it anyway. Also, you're my age, and I can see your state from my apartment looking across the Hudson. And that's pretty cool.

I like your writing style, the seeming randomness that has a common thread. It's so vibrant.
  • -LizBTropez- on May 12, 2005
Decided to come and peruse your author's page from your contest (very novel indeed!)
Love the name- our daughter (to be born in August) will be named Maura, so it's similar. I think someone said it's Irish for Mary?
I too am Wiccan (well, not an all-put practicing one)
What color is your hair currently?
I also dislike religious fanatics... and stupidity
    I love your motto, BTW.

  • kyew on April 16, 2005
I like the way you think from reading one of your poems.

I like THAT you think even more.

    P.S. I'm lesbien, too!

(no, not really. but I could have been irish if I had been born there)
  • AgeofAquarius on April 16, 2005
Liked your comment about the meaning of a name...so true.
  • NikoAmbiguous on March 19, 2005
Hey, cool. I'm a pagan, and a lesbian. I've got homosexual, bisexual, and even transgender friends; how does asexual work? You don't have to answer if you don't want, but I'm trying to study up on this stuff. I'm an ally, so I've got nothing against anyone (as far as sexual orientation goes). I've got a friend, Robert, who doesn't like men or women. Sorta like that?

Sorry if I'm interrogating you, but from what I gather from your author page, you're the kind of person I'd get along with.

    Sorry to bug you!

    Bye!

    P.S. I'm Irish, too.
  • trembling opal on February 16, 2005
I love The Red Tent. My friend Rebecca borrowed it at some point during September and then never gave it back, though. Ugh.

Haha, I thought it odd that I hadn't seen you online in... months. I guess I'll have to dig out the OKS phone book and find your number that way.

I've been... up and down. Down lately, but I'm boucing back. I always seem to.
  • Saint Jai on January 30, 2005
    No.

Sister, there are two kinds of poetry. This is fact:

The first is the most common; the piece is understood and communicates and the message is transmitted. That is the purpose of this kind and it's ultimate goal is to be ultimately understood. Understand me, it cries. It begs to be simple and easy and accessible.

The second is the rarest and the most exciting when discovered; pieces which captures the essence of living and being and dreaming, written in words that only the artist truely understands. It is the most complex, and doesn't desire to be accessed or applauded.

It is, then, pragmatic to write poetry that all can access, that all can appreciate quickly and with little thought.

But I have never liked pragmatism, and neither does the mistress Art. The poetry that really Matters is that which shows a splinter of the true glory and horror of Here. It plays with words to hide itself. It draws on old stories and shatters them, melding the pieces into something bright and disturbing. It exists, moving coils and snaken limbs. It lives, lovely.

To me, and remember I am one internet personality corresponding with another, your poetry is of the second breed and so, much like my own children, organismo fabulaire. It is layered and subterranean. Thus, and by extraction, we can see that the casual observer may not understand your work. But does it matter? If I read your piece Beautiful: Hate, and inside feel a warm knot of tension and wonder at the strange fable infront of me, even if I do not see half the metaphors in the same light as intended, surely that is better than being understood and at the same time having presented a work which is never different when observed from changed perspectives?

Maybe my comment here is misguided. And maybe my ideas about poetry are bunk. Perhaps.

But I would never ever say that you are thought of as a good poet because nobody understands your work. Rather, you are a good poet because your work is interesting, strange, unconventional, dynamic, challenging, metaphorical, diverse, beautiful, critical, observant, fun. Which is more than I can say for the vast majority of "poets" in the world.

I hope that helped, and wasn't too condescending (If I was, I'm genuinely apologetic... I just don't like to see like-styled poets have depressing thoughts. Call me kooky.)

And, on a final note of thanks:

    Thankyou.

(that was for the trophy. It is my first one. I'm very much a grateful venison)

Smile, lovely. I think you are quite a lot of fun indeed.
  • Ms. Trick on January 22, 2005
I think maybe the only reason I'm thought of as a good poet is because nobody understands my work, therefore they just assume it's good without actually fully appreciating it. Well that's nice and depressing.

I think you are quite a lot of fun.

(I like the colour red too... but keep that one to yourself and everyone else) Stern glances never did anything for me anyway, I wish I was made of flour. I wish so much these days.
  • MagicLady on November 29, 2004
Thank you so much for honouring me with your trophy. I know it takes a lot of hard earned points to have a contest. I feel privilaged to be part of that group that you gave those trophys to. I have many contests because I like to give points away. I get them, I give them away. It seems the more I give away, the more I get. I did my favorite "entries" into your contest of contests. I am glad you found one of them worthy. It was a great contest as well. Some of the poems were very funny.

Again...thank you. Stop by my bird page sometime...it is fun.

hi ms. trick, just came by to say hi and thank you for your comments. i really enjoyed your author page, and i never in a million years would've guessed you're so young. not that it's a bad thing, you just present yourself so well, you seem to a much more intelligent and mature 15 year old than i ever was! oh ya, i love terry pratchett too, no one else has ever made me laugh and think so hard at the same time. so i'm gonna go ahead and stick you on my favorites so i'll remember to actually read your work when i have time. judging by all them pretty trophies i can't wait to see whatcha got!
