Well good for you Mike, that sounds really interesting, i don't think i have more than a dozen things that go back 33 years, let alone a project!

  • Michael Dennis Rivers on September 27, 2005
    Hi Barb,
Been working on a project I started 33 years ago! As a Jr. High School Art teacher I had three kids take parts from a script I worked out from Frost's poem "The Death of The Hired Man" I taped it and did some watercolors for a slide presentation... the project hung around the house until I put all the pieces together and started it up again (few more drawing to go). I also found two of the kids, one is a costume designer and the other is a college teacher. Hope to finish the thing by Spring.

Hmm are you on holiday? or are you too busy burping babies, changing nappies and generally enjoying being a grandad?
  • Michael Dennis Rivers on June 28, 2005
Thanks Dennis, I didn't like it as a kid but it has grown on me.

    Hi Geneva,
Things going ok... had an angiogram and they say I need some by-pass work... I'm not happy about that but will probably have to go through it... rats. Lately I've been golfing and playing with electronics and programming stuff more than poetry and my ISP changed because the last one, RCN, got me paranoid. Glad to hear that you are in college teaching... I did it for a while (adjunctly) and loved it. The students were so much more motivated.... it was real teaching. I think you are much more suited to that level. If all goes well health-wise, Sally and I will be up in Maine most of August (I hope)... stop and see us if your going by.
    Mike
P.S. Glad you liked my Whale Poem

ha ha ha .. Next time I'll supply you with a parachute.

We are now in the process of buying a house. I'm hoping to be able to walk to school by the end of the semester. I feel so ... suburban.

    It is exciting.

Some comment you made on cigars drew my attention; being a keen collecter and humidor-wosrshiping person myself. Will check on your stuff now that I'm here.

    Hallo Mike

I saw your comment on my Autumn Bride, and I just wanted to come and read your newest poemy. But I DID already. Then I saw your age again - my, my, Poet, I forgot that you are still sooooo young - you always write such anciently brilliant stuff. (You know, the older I get, the younger people become. Funny thing, ya know )

    LOVE to you, my friend.

OK Tonny, nice to hear from you, you'll brobably have more success (fortune) at songwriting than at poetry... poetry doesn't pay well... but I suppose it's fun.

Hi Jane, I sent the following to Sylvia:

Syl, I got this message from Jane and I was wondering... did she see some other page that I don't know about???????
[new System Message] Geneva (im) made a comment on your author page:
Hey Birch, those are gorgeous pictures,
I love the neighbor's shed. New England ingenuity!
Good pics of mike but when I was visiting he was wearing shorts and sandals and with the cigar; he was so handsome.
    I mean nice legs
but the pics of him were still good
LOL I can't believe I'm going to post this!
Oh by the way Hi Mike

    Hallo Mike!

Thanks for still reading! Loyal, yes ... that you are.

Mike. May I, too, look at Birchies pictures? Do you think I may?

I want to see you again.

  • Geneva on February 28, 2004
OH I got to go look at those Maine pics myself.
So Mr Concrete Mind.(LOL are we opposites or what!) I think I wrote a poem that might be concrete enough for you: "work creeps." Sally will relate since she works still, or you can remember what it was like, once upon a time, to suck up to people all day long; except that you don't strike me as a person who would stoop to that level, as I do.
So I'm waiting for a new original from you? what gives?
Dan enjoyed the german-english: Ich bein dein. He said "not quite 'Rilke.'" Dan is a philosopher always concise but modest in his evaluations.
Is it Spring in Maine yet? When does migration begin?

Hey Mike .. I FINALLY have the Maine pictures up in my yahoo photo album!

    f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/matsbs/album?.dir=/142f

There are many of you .. thus you need to see how incriminating they are. LOL

If you open one of the pictures by clicking on the thumbnail, then there should be a "slideshow" link - the easiest way to view them.

    Dearest Mike

May you and yours experience the Serenity and Joy of the Brightest Star of all. May you be touched in a special way by Divinity, and may you become intensely aware of His Love in all dimensions: within, without, around and Beyond.

    Much Love and Respect.

Well, Mike .. Yahoo messenger (which is free, btw) has a doodle pad that acts like a pretty good chalk board. I'd be happy to give you a calc course, if you want it.

Now, that ain't no shit offer, you know. I is a professor and they pay me big bucks to teach calc and all that jazz. :|

And, Mike .. also, there is really no shame in not doing well .. or taking a while to get it. Most students who get through calc .. understand shit .. I'm absolutely convinced of that. It is simply more honest, and in the long run more productive, to admit you don't understand, and not just satisfy yourself with doing the problems *exactly like the teacher did them* so you can pass the class.

In fact, I'm absolutely convinced that most kids get through high school without even realizing what the word "understand" means. But that is a whole other discussion.

Ah Mike! I thought I recognized your style! Veritas Vino! No need to use a middle man, though

Seriously, now: a girl can get into trouble on this Net ... I had some lessons in being link wise myself! One guy really touched my heart - you know, summing me up for who I am, having all the necessary phrases ready and excellent social skills ... I began to reinforce my defense meganisms by visualizations: every time he logged in, I just imagined a bunch of naughty, laughing computer engineers following my every word and I turned to Lady Antartica herself ... Mostly these "admirers" are some hackers rooting files through one's computer whilst cooing their "admiration".

Please take care, Miky, and do not forget to remember

My regards to Sally ... and to Birchie

    Love ya.

    Myra

I have these books on my shelf next to my bed... Math mostly and a love and a yearning to be near to it, and a frustrationn with it.. particularly the calculus. As I get older and more stupid.... I find my ability to deal with these things to grow more distant... I wonder why? But I try...

Ah .. a video and an audio. Well .. we DEFINITLEY owe you a CD with Maine pics.

Umm .. we don't really have a video camera .. except, I think bill's does really really short ones, not certain. And .. I'm not certain how to record voice on this. :|
