I'm so sorry for the pain you have endured and I can't wait to read more of your writings! It is late here now...but I want you to know that you are now going to be wreathed with my words of truth, as tears will fall from my eyes each time I open your page! Your quotes are so powerful..I think this little lost girl with a big heart might start crying.....been doing alot of that lately. I need guidance and I added you to my favorites....Just new to the site, and going through a rough time, I don't even know who I am anymore. Did I ever, All I know is that I have always put others first, had a great heart, and made many self sacrifices to please others, and in the end my own happiness was depleted....I have been wronged hurt and beaten up....but I forgive and just prey that these people realize one day, how they have affected other wonderful souls...You sound like a very great guy.....
    With much Gratitude,
    God bless you,
    Arianna

By reading what you've written (both poetry and by your page/guestbook comments) I've seemingly dawned on the one thing that I need, needing to be saved. You see, I am a child, yes a child, of 13, but I fully understand what you have written. I just haven't noticed the fact that I don't believe in Him as much as I should, and by being given an example of His works, I guess maybe that should be something to pay close attention to. I want to thank you, though I'm being totally anonymous when it comes to this, for actually pointing that out.

As for the arguements I see, they are clearly spoken and well...they're direct! I can't really see a point in where someone can actually go against what you say, for all of it that I see anyway, cannot be worded against...

He sat with the tax collectors and sinners because they knew they were not saved. The Pharisees and Sadducees THOUGHT they were saved. It's easier to lead someone to the light when they know they live in darkness. Those who think they're already in the light cannot be led anywhere, nor can one who does not believe in, or hates the light.

    Luke, chapter 18

10: "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

11: The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, `God, I thank thee that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

12: I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get.'

13: But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, `God, be merciful to me a sinner!'

14: I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

It is important that people know that Jesus loves them. Once you’ve convinced them of that, what’s next? Are the hard lessons too much for them? If so, why? The hard lessons encourage people to think for themselves, and exercise their gift of discernment. While the feel good, Jesus loves you, end of lesson, teachings encourage a follow the leader mentality. We’re not supposed to follow human leaders! Jesus is the only shepherd! But we elevate churches and evangelists to the level of shepherds! The narrow road referred to in the Bible, is a private road. The road signs were written for you alone, and only you can read them. Churches and ministers are supposed to aid you in your education, not lead you down their road. When many choose to travel such a road, they are choosing the wide road also spoken of in the Bible. That road leads somewhere completely different from the narrow road. If I can prevent even one soul from making the mistake of choosing that path, I will be content that I have done my job.

I don’t really expect those whom the world accepts to understand, any more than I expect them to read every word I write them. But I cannot turn my back either. Therefore, as long as they present arguments to me, I will continue to refute them until they’ve no argument left. If you truly speak for God, you can’t be refuted. A lesson I’ve yet to see learned. God bless

Mark, the lost come to know Christ through love and acceptance and demonstration in one's own life. That is why Jesus sat and ate with the tax collector's and sinners. He did not judge them. He demonstrated love and acceptance. This is my last word on the subject.

Queen, the lost are influenced by strong arguments for or against the existence of God. Most Christians fail to provide those strong arguments. When a naysayer presents an argument it usually revolves around perceptions. I can’t see Him so He’s not real, too many bad things happen for a loving God to exist, or the Bible has too many inconsistencies for God to be real. So I presented a strong argument for God’s existence, while taking these arguments completely out of the fight. If they aren’t convinced by an argument they can’t refute, then they simply don’t want to be convinced. Meanwhile, the title of the contest catches their attention and draws them in. Some will read the argument I present, some will not. If even one takes my points to heart as Jose did, I have fulfilled my charge. My method does not fit in with the modern, feel good, social club, liberal Christian mentality; which leads them to assume the moral high ground, while asking me to leave it at that. However, I approach this in much the same way as the prophets did. I sugar coat nothing. More often than not, the prophets were hunted down and executed, or at the very least, publicly humiliated and tortured for their methods. Were these atrocities perpetrated upon them by atheists? No. most often It was the religious who committed these crimes. Why? Because they didn’t AGREE with the prophets method. Even though the prophets were just doing what they were told by the God the religious claimed to worship.

    John, chapter 15

18: "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.

19: If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

20: Remember the word that I said to you, `A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

21: But all this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know him who sent me.

22: If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

23: He who hates me hates my Father also.

24: If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.

25: It is to fulfil the word that is written in their law, `They hated me without a cause.'

    26: But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me;

27: and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning.

If you find the world accepts you, you’re probably not as close to God as you think. Why? Because to make a difference like the prophets made, you have to stir the pot. If you’re too concerned about not being accepted by the Christian Social Club, that will never get done, and the days of prophets and disciples will be over. When people judge me, chastise me or excommunicate me while presenting a challenge like this, it strengthens my resolve that I’m doing the right thing. I see, feel good, let us pray, Christian Social Club contests all the time. I am one of the few who actually challenge people. I pull no punches in my method of getting God’s word across. At least I have a method of getting God’s word across. Most AP Christians are too busy holding contests about poetic style. These are usually the Christians who take issue with me. Those who put minimum to no effort at all into doing God’s work on AP. And if it turns out that I’m wrong, I would rather be so while trying to do God’s work, than not doing anything at all. God bless.

Mark. I fully admit to being a hypocrite and will add that to my author's page as soon as I get the chance. But I believe your contest chases away more of the lost than it does to hold up Jesus as a loving Lord of everyone, no matter what the sin.
That's all I have to say and would appreciate it if you leave it at that.
In Jesus, good luck to you. I'll be praying for you.

Queen, I judge only the parameters of MY contest. If I choose to field questions before they’re raised, or exclude those who have caused trouble in previous contests, I will. Commenting here, and telling me what I’m doing wrong, or explaining how offensive my title is, or calling me a hypocrite, IS judging. See, I can judge what is acceptable and unacceptable for MY contest. That is simply saying what I will accept dealing with. On the other hand, if I wrote a comment on your homepage or in the comment section of one of your contests, saying you’re judging, or implying that you don’t love your neighbor, and warning you not to be a hypocrite as you chase more of the lost away from God, then I’d be judging. However, I do not go to anyone’s homepage and judge them a hypocrite, or anything else. I simply defend my home ground from those inclined to judge. And excluding them from my contest is part of that defense. I have grown intolerant of those who simply enjoy causing trouble. Hold a few Christian based contests and learn what I’m talking about. And by excluding these people, I am simply obeying Christ.

    Matthew, chapter 7

6: "Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.

Do you really think those Jesus warned us about, who reject His very existence, and work fervently against him are welcome in His house? Glacian dedicates nearly his entire homepage to his hatred of religion. If Jesus warns us about people who hate us, why should I welcome them in my contest? God bless.

Your very own quote demonstrates your hypocrisy. I'm referring to your current contest. You are a fantastic writer and I've always loved your poems, but you miss the mark here.

    On "Johnny Came Marching Home."

Man!!! This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I'm looking for. You chose a particular subgroup of the target audience (war veterans), you did not "preach" nor did you intimidate the reader. You kept it SHORT and SIMPLE!! You made the point quite clear. Despite the outcome of the contest, this poem will definitely become a blessing.

ATTENTION TO OTHER CONTESTANTS: This one is going to hard to match. Get those thinking caps on! God truly inspired Mr. Spencer this day.

ps: I thank you, sir, for you time and effort here. This piece goes out with Susan when she goes to work tomorrow. I also want you to know that I was brought to tears after reading it. You appear to be a man after God's own Heart.
