"poetry should do more than just say something", I agree, poetry should mow the lawn for us...

Loved that Chagrin piece.
Have that, had that, color hair myself once upon a time. Now not as much, and the color is about 50 decibels off.LOL
Goodly writ!

Amera : Happy Birthday Sis! on July 30
Your Birthday’s here so I wrote down this verse,
It must be hard so I’ll use the big print.
You’re getting older and nothing is worse
than reading a poem when you have to squint.
You know you’re old when the cops look like kids.
Your body has changed and parts seem to droop
and in your pants, you find little brown skids.
It’s so hard to chew, you’ve been living on soup.
I slaved all day and I baked you a cake,
if we save the candles, I’ll wax my legs.
But at least the smoke will keep you awake.
I hope you don’t mind, I forgot the eggs.
We no longer spank, bend over and see,
here is your Birthday, colonoscopy.

Jesus, I read becoming a mermaid and you took my breath away...no woman takes my breath away. I've done one and you've got 606, heaven fuckin' help me.
And I thought that I had talent...well, heart or a good imagination...maybe a good eye.
I'm about to embark on number 2 and I have no idea
where you'll take me but I know that I'll have to fasten my seatbelt 'cause I know that I'm in for a ride. -c

Lyndon : And remain, if time allowed on April 27
your dearest devotee.
-
Lyndon : I think you are quite a gifted poet on April 27
and if I were not the leader of groups and also not doing a print-on-demand anthology, I'd be your biggest fan, materially.

on your 100th gold. What poem won it for you.

Mairi,
You have been nominated by a friend to be Hoodwinked by our group, the Poetic Bandits. It is our mission to promote good poetry and to lift the spirits of our fellow poets and be an encouragement to all here at AP. You have been a source of encouragement and instruction to many here and we would like to thank you for being the positive influence that you are. May you continue to write your wonderful poetry and be a blessing to others.
Dennis
Co-leader of the Poetic Bandits

Your profile pic is the first painting I ever labeled as my favorite! Awesome.
-
I was just talking to Lane and we both agree, you are the best damned poet in this place.
I would rather read your work than any contemporary poet I can think of. We are your fan club. Maid of Pearls is extraordinary, wish you'd enter one in our mermaid contest.

Hey Sugarpuss, I'm not so sure about this Minor poet thing: I just read your poem on mermaids.
Give me time: I'll read all of yours. What a lovely painting!

I love the "remembering to breathe" quote. Sometimes I have to be reminded ) Breathe deep and exhale slowly ...

Go raibh tú daibhir i mí-áidh
Agus saibhir i mbeannachtaí
Go mall ag déanamh namhaid, go luath a déanamh carad,
Ach saibhir nó daibhir, go mall nó go luath,
Nach raibh ach áthas agat
Ón lá seo amach.

lol at some of your lists... I of course came for your leaf list... now where is it... well, I'll just have to go back through your titles... I had in mind writing a piece on them for a "37 Words" contest, but I may ramble beyond that...
reinstated? Don't tell me you've experienced being banned, too?

okay, I've been reading your sonnets and I am stunned. . .really, how do you do it? I could've swooned over the Juliet ones. . . Ah, you've inspired me. . .

Nice to meet a Scot here on AP. I spent some time in Braemar when my cousin got married. She's Irish. He's Scottish. I love everything Scottish. Have you seen the film "So I Married an Axe Murderer" yet? Mike Myers plays his own dad, who is a rabidly ethnocentric Scotsman. Very funny. Reminded me of my own da quite a bit.
This is one of my favorite Mike Myers SNL sketches, too. Hope you enjoy it.

i was wondering if, perchance, you're familiar with any early irish myths and sagas . more specifically, characters like: Connla and Cu Chulaind, and places like the 'aes side' .

You've got some lovely people in your AP family!
I see my Watchful Dragon Jess has visited here too below me!!

i'll try to write more, and hopefully to put more thought into the things i write... the first poem was more of a blob of thought than a good piece of writing

The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I'm leaving you well and whole. That's my parting gift to you. Peace. (John 14:25 - The Message)
May God grant you Peace.

Admiring your frontpage. I love the poem in the middle, is it by you and if so might I have permission to use it at some time on my page; giving credit of course. I really like what it says.
