When I say I'm christian, or you get the vibe that I am.
Don't write me off as "holier than thou", a goody two shoes or innocent please
Don't look at me as a religious, conceited, stuck up hypocrite
I'm still that same ol' D, just improvin from the wretch I used to be see?
When I say I'm christian I'm not shoutin that I'm clean livin
I'm still a simple sinner with a past now fogiven.
And since I've been born again, with a new life worth livin
I've been driven by my ultimate goal to make it into heaven.
I'm not a hypocrite but yeah I do some hypocritical things
just like a woman who's not of royalty is still considered a queen
what I mean is that, like David I lust, like Samson I fornicate
like a thief sometimes I steal, and sometimes I lie
I'm just keepin it real yo', and sometimes I cuss both verbally and in my mind
so...
It ain't like I don't pray, repent and ask for forgiveness
and not a day goes by, most of the time, that I don't speak to God.
I talk the talk, and try my best to keep walkin the walk
but sometimes I stagger and fall cause the flesh gets the best of me
especially during the weak points of my celibacy
so I find myself writing intimate poetry
to relieve myself of sexual heat but aye, that's just me
that's my release therapy... and let me clear up one last thing
When I say I'm christian, I'm not sayin I speak in tongue
and that I shout and go crazy wit the holyghost
I don't randomly take out a bible and start ackin like an exorcist
whenever I'm in the midst of a bunch of unholy folks
I mean if you drink you drink, if you smoke you smoke, if you cuss you cuss, if
you use it or sell it, hey do what you do
I'ma keep doin me, I just hope you're straight when Jesus comes back for his
people
and LAST but not LEAST, when I say I'm christian
Rest assured I'm still human, cause the only thing that makes me different
is the light that I have that always seems to shine.
I'm just a regular guy tryna find
what it is that God made me to do in life,
I'm just a simple sinner... if I was perfect... why would I BE a christian, why
would I need God?
I'd be too good for it and since I'm NOT, THAT my friend is WHY... I'm a
christian

Lute lute lute. I have to write a horrifically long essay on the dramatic monologue form and have left it far too late and so the deadline is creeping up to bite me. I've got the obvious victorians covered, I've got a bunch of new dramatic monologues too for contrast and Eliot's examples which will all fill up many thousand words nicely but obviously Ezra Pound's one of the guys to look at for this area and I know you like him right? - Can you give me a few names of any dramatic monologues he wrote please? It is taking me so so long to sift them out. I'd be over the moon if you could help - I don't think I'll ever ever get the hang of leaving enough time to pull off an essay. x

The d.a. levy collage--stunning. Thank you for introducing me to his work. I love the words, "electric diaphragm."
Do you have any suggestions to me about how to get into publishing?
Feel free to message me

I have not visited your poem porch in a while. Hi there Poet.

d.a.levy,/i>, a hometown boy...YES! Love the collage. I had to create one when I was at CSU, years ago. levy is big here in Cleveland, and small to some because he ended his life so violently...
I am conducting a series of interviews with members that have been at AP five years or longer. I'm calling it OP's at APInterested in sitting down for a chat? IM me back with a response when you get a moment please. Thanks!
Much Love ♥

Would love for you to enter a contest. I don't do them very often and I am doing it with Mary. Yeah, I am using her because she gets more folks to visit her page than mine. Well what do I expect when I sound like a crazy lady on mine.... anyway... it is called Ugly Love and there are some neat quotes for inspiration.
and now i am babbling and know it is my place to leave!!!!

I have been a fan of d.a.levy since I was a kid. He's from my hometown. I have participated in several tributes to him held here. Too bad, like Thornton, he decided to take his own young life. I really wish they had both chosen to live longer. I can only imagine what they would be writing today.

Over there in the feature box is a poem by Lute. I like to slip in through the back door, but as is Lute's old habit, to search for said featured poem, well, it's a task, and I'm not up to it, so I shall do the nasty and click on the feature - cost ya points, but hey you asked for it.
I meant to drop around Christmas and instruct you to walk on the beach. Here in Vancouver, that's what people do Christmas. The beach walks are more crowded than in July. Really. I hope you were fine and not lonely.
Since I failed to make Christmas, I'll do New Year's early: may the coming year deliver to you love, joy, and a shitload of good sex. (It's what you guys want, yeah?)
Cheers, Lutey man.

i love how ur grading ur contest!
with the numbers, it actually sends a message that you can see how good it is rather than just "good job"
excellent way of grading. I hope other people start doing that. No Joke!
(i didn't respond to your comment on my poem to keep my poem anomyonous)

"I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach."
Merry Christmas, Lute.
