  • AlwaysbeBIG : Falling Leaves on October 29, 2008
    The times will change,
    And leaves will fall.

    The years will pass by,
    With amazed children stopping
    To pick up and gaze
    In open mouth wonder
At the diamonds and precious jewels
Left to them, by the seers
    Of years prior.

    One in particular will leave
    More than jewels and wealth,
But a view of how it used to be.

    His words of lore
    Will offer strength
    In the future
    From days of yore,
    And they could never
    Ask for more.

    Empires will come and go,
    Their accomplishments penned
In the pages of history by others,
    While this man’s legacy
    Will remain a guiding beacon
    Of light, for future kings.

    The times will change,
And yet more leaves will fall.

HERES TO YOU LOWELL...WE DID IT...

Thanks for taking the time to read my poem and for that wonderful comment. Unfortunately, I don't feel completely deserving of your praise because the poem was a collaboration. I can take credit for my lines but not my partners. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed our creation. :]
  • Sheli : about Coyote on October 23, 2008
i hope your day goes well, driving an ambulance has got to be one stressful job! i thought i would tell you a bit about me and the trickester, who thru my enthusiasm, i just tricked myself and told all of this to another new friend, lol, silly me, glad he didnt mind either!

i am still pondering my offering to Coyote... have you seen all those little quizzes on the pc? like what flavor margarita are you? or holiday cookie? whats your hippie name? all of them are rather silly, but fun when bored, well one i did was 'what is your indian name', i am an eigth from my ma's side, and my stepdad, who is a huge influence in my life, is half, so for curiouslity's sake i did that quiz and was thrilled when mine came back as 'tahyeh tolinka', meaning, 'precious flapping ear of coyote', i in no way mean to be disrespectful, i thought that was so wonderful as one of my first memories being in public school was my 2nd grade teacher once told us a story about coyotes and i was so over taken with glee, that unasked and in the middle of her speech, i howled like a coyote, of course everyone was convinced i am nuts and she took me into the coat closet to inform me that altho i did sound like coyote, howling in class was not done, so i have always seen the trickester as my buddy, i write alot about crows, but you reminded me of all of this yesterday, and i already had something in my head, which now, has a direction

    PEACE

    Sheli

P.S. about your calling me 'gypsy', very nice! and very new, no one has ever before, lol, my heritage (i call myself a casserole, lol) is i am one quarter each: french german welsh, and one eigth each indian and scottish
  • wellbegone : Thank You for your comment on October 17, 2008
I have never thought of being a gypsy, Would you be so kind to elaborate on that idea for me. I'm sure I will learn something new about myself and I'm always willing to do that. Being that gypsy's are good and loving people.
Thank You Mr.Poe, Peace to you

An' it's a broken old suitcase
    to a hotel someplace
and a wound that will never heal
And goodnight to the street sweepers
    nightwatchmen flame keepers
    and good night
    Matilda too...
  • EternitysLastWish on October 10, 2008
Honestly Liam, I can't decide what's worse, a drunken school-bus driver or a drunken ambulance driver...

  • ourgirlFriday : Oiy! Lowell! on October 7, 2008
Drinking and driving an ambulance at the same time? You must work out of California. Love your poems; hope to see some new ones...maybe dedications (hint, hint)
  • waydownuponjoy : The Gypsy's Bard ... on October 1, 2008
    With sanctions steeped in pensiveness
    or spoke in foreign tongues,
    Worldly gifts of wistfulness,
    come well-wrapped up in puns.
Or tied up loose with silk-spun strands,
    reflecting gold of suns -
    Carried long through well-trod lands
    or mountains one by one.

    Mapping out the well-worn trails,
knocked down by those of yore.
Opening up the wounds from nails,
    while hung like Him before.
Searching hands then grasp the heart,
    you’re living ... that’s for sure!
And breath from you shall not depart
    until you’ve fought that war.

Laying down in fields of green
    you stop to rest awhile,
As love drifts ghostly ... still unseen,
you feel it curve your smile!
    Vistas spread before your thoughts
    like fodder you ensile.
    Off-the-beaten path you’re caught,
as new maps are compiled ... ...

i do believe that i am starting to get jealous over how well of a writer you are lowell. lol. i can just tell by the number of comments you have for each poem and the number of trophies that you are truly a poet.
  • humblpye : Long overdue brew....! on September 20, 2008
and so are these; just a handful of words they may appear, but the written word cannot always capture completely the words that are hidden within the heart, this is just to say a sincere thank you, for taking time out to visit my world, for all the encouragement, freely and unselfishly given...but way above all of these things, for your sincere friendship...we'll have that beer someday, oh yeah...
    Your brother John
  • Wandering Woodchuck on September 3, 2008
I appreciated your comments on my poem and visited your page to view one of yours. The part that got me laughing was:

When I'm not writing, I'm drinking heavily and driving a school bus.

If you do them both at the same time may have more time for poetry.

    Falling Leaves, by Brandon Spalletta

This is dedicated to my good friend and brother, Lowell Poe. Words can not express the friendship that he has shown or the inspiration he has given. He is a great man, and well deserving of this poem. Here's to you, Lowell.

    BLESSINGS LOWELL,

  • EternitysLastWish : Words not worthy of such a great man on April 16, 2008

    Lowell

Of all the classical poets I know
perhaps the greatest is Lowell Poe
his hands write tomes of golden words
which leaves us wanting seconds, thirds
He mentioned that if we were to part
My own words would leave his poet's heart
but if I ever were to wander
absence would only make my heart grow fonder
for the combinations of letters, conjured to make
his poems which cause happiness, anger, heartache
to listen to him I'd always stay
until the stars came out to play
Penniless pockets mean I travel never
though in my heart I roam forever
But as long as Lowell is there beside me
his British gypsy poet I'll always be.
