How wonderful it was to hear from you!!!! It's not often that I get on here-just every once in a while to make sure I keep my account opened. I think of you, too. Can you believe we actually got to meet? I still think that is incredible how all that worked out before you moved. Are things going well for you guys? You'll have to catch me up to par on what's going on with you. School will be through in Dec for me and then I finally get to be back to normal (whatever that is) and be a better friend to the special people in my life, like you. Blessings to you! And thank you for stopping by and commenting~love you!!!!

just wondering if you got my message (#)

  • LdyBrknWing on August 30, 2006
I see that my reply to your last comment made you nervous, Clovis. Again...it wasn't my intention to be offensive. And I think you must not have read my last reply to you, all the way through. (The reason I think that, is because you ended your last comment with the suggestion that I check out your Author's page, and the poem posted there by John Greenleaf Whittier. I did do that...before I made my reply to you. In fact, I addressed that in my last reply.) Either you didn't read my reply all the way through, or you simply chose to ignore it. Either way...you're right. It does no good to argue these things. The Spirit of the Lord has to draw a person. You can't be "convinced" against your will. Peace to you, my friend.

Again, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. The teachings of the Bible do not apply to non-believers any more than the teachings of Buddism; Hinduism, Toaism, or other non-christian faiths apply to christians. It doesn't matter what christians, or any sect thereof believes. Just because one believes that their spiritual tradition (religion) is the one and only true one, doesn't make it so. It is just a belief, beliefs are not facts. Doesn't matter whether its MY beliefs OR YOURS, they are just beliefs. I enjoy our discussion, some what, however, arguing about something that niether of us can factually prove, IS NOT SPIRITUALLY UPLIFTING FOR ME, which is why I don't like emotional discussions about religion.
So, I think it best we just agree to disagree, and let it go at that. You might check out my author's page to get a little better idea of my feelings on this subject. I think John Greenleaf Whittier, says it best. (See his poem, there)Peace and joy to you and yours.

hope you'll forgive me, Clovis...I don't mean to be-labor the point here, but two things you said in your reply to my note regarding "God's Rainbows," I felt, needed to be addressed. The first regarding the interpretation of Scripture. I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. There are many religions, and denominations, that take one verse of Scripture, and then try to justify their own beliefs, regardless of the grief, destruction, and bloodshed it may cause. I think you and I would both agree that God has no part in that. However, it is possible to rightly interpret Scripture. (The problem being that most of us, if we were honest, are not interested in rightly "dividing" the Word. No doubt, too much time and trouble, and in the long run, it might not back up what they choose to believe.) The Bible itself tells us how to interpret Scripture. It's not that difficult. I think that's it's not nearly so much that people can't interpret it correctly and understand it...I think it's more about not liking what they do understand. Therefore, if I don't like what it teaches, I simply throw out what I don't like, and say "that doesn't apply to me...that was for a different time, and place." (Although, granted, there is much through out the Old Testament that was for a particular people, and that was given under "Law," whereas, since Jesus came to make the final, and ultimate sacrifice on the cross, we now live under "Grace.") Second...you said that since you are not a conservative Christian, the teachings of "my" religion don't apply to you. I'm afraid, however, that's not true. You see, the Scriptures says that we're all accountable to God, and will be judged by His Word. Our personal beliefs have nothing to do with that. For example...I could say that I don't believe in the law of gravity. (This is obviously hypothetical; I hope you'll stay with me through this thought.) For whatever reason, regardless of the proponderance of evidence to the contratry, I've chosen to believe that gravity doesn't exist. And I'm completly and totally sincere in that "belief." However, if a large object, of any kind of weight, should fall from a 2nd or 3rd story window, on top of my head, I'm going to get hit. ((And depending upon the size and weight of the object, be either knocked out at the least, and killed, at the worst.) My "belief" has nothing to do with it. (And of course, that would be because, sincere though I might be in my "belief," it's not truth.) Jesus said "You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free." Each one of us has the option to believe the truth...or hold to a lie. God gives us freewill to make that choice. But in the end, what good has living our belief in that lie accomplished? As to your creedo on your Author's page...I've read it, and it's not only a beautiful poem (one that I was not familiar with), but one that carried a great deal of truth. But there was just the tiniest bit of "untruth" mixed in...the poem basically says that it's man's "iron creeds," that the poet has a problem with, and that in so doing, it's man that is binding, in a sense, God. But the Bible says that all Scripture were given by inspiration of God. Granted, used by human men to write them down. (And for some reason, that makes people nervous.) Anyway...I hope you'll forgive this long diatribe. It wasn't written in a spirit of meaness, or to be intentionally critical. It was meant to make you think...not to offend. God bless you, my friend. Peace to you, and yours, well!

Re: Your reply to my comment on God's Rainbows. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. Since I'm not a conservative Christian, the tchgs of your religion don't apply to me or those who believe as I do. The reason I don't belong to any organized christian church, now a days is because there are too many differing interpretations of the Bible and too much argument over social issues. After all, before the Civil War some churches mis interpreted the Bible to justify slavery. The first poem posted on my authors page pretty well sums up my spiritual beliefs. However, none the less, peace and joy, to you and yours.
