You are so right about depression, it is as real an illness ans diabettes or any other.
It can kill because it takes control of your mind and you see things differently.
It is brought on by a chemical imbalance in the body, as well as stress in life.
Many do call it a disease of weakness, laziness and excuses.
Don't listen to those who are ignorant of their own accord. If they cared they would research and find and understanding.
I passed it on to my child, whom most would say is creating drama for attention.
This is not true. If someone wants to die and they cry out put yourself on alert. It may be the only warning given.
There is so much more I could sayon this subject.
I hope we can become friends because sharing is wonderful therapy and cheaper than a therapist. lol
    Good luck andGod bless!

Thanks for putting that piece about depression on your page. I have suffered from depression for the past 12 years or so [I am 20], and I have heard my fair share of, "oh, you just want attention". I can totally identify with your feeling hopeless, sad, and worthless, and none of those are nice feelings at all. Would it be all right, if I borrowed that little blurb from your page? I really do like it. Thanks again for putting it out there, giving us a voice. It's always nice to know you're not completely alone.

    Regards,

    Laura

  • Puking Faerie Dust on August 29, 2007
I love your default picture =] And I'm sorry about your cat - I, myself, have a couple, and I love them to death. Your cat lived a very long life, though I can relate to the "chronic depression" thing, also. I'm diagnosed with that, as well. But only for a few years now. And by the way, thank you for the comment on my poem

Hey I was just browsing and came across your page and it made me want to say something. First off; Betty Boop is awesome ^_^ I've been slowly collecting things myself (though you have a headstart on me )
Second, and on a more serious note. I was incredibly happy to see the note on your page about depression. I wanted to say thank you to you for putting it there.
Unfortunately now days, kids have taken to thinking that it is a trend, and a cool thing to have. So those who do actually suffer from it are left being told, like you said, to just "get over it".
Anyway, I've been babbling away. All I really wanted to say was thank you.

    Dear LadyUnique

I added you as a favorite because my big sister, who once was Zayra Yves, now is Oshun yemaya, and she has you on her favorites. One way I grow is I follow my big sister around silently and learn from the feet of a master poet. So I hope you don't mind me poking aroung your poems. Smoosh my darling before I whoosh. Janet

LOL Brenda...I agree with the cartoon at top and your expressed sentiment. If I had to choose between a woman with a panty line and one who wears a strap up her strop, give me the line every time...I personally find the whole thong thing grotesque...and I wonder--is there a point to having just that tiny little triangle of cloth in place? I always was under the impression that the purpose of undergarments was to protect your outter garments from inner soiling, if you get my drift...and thongs do nothing on that point--in fact, they MUST be unsanitary, I would think. Ughhh! Save us from mindless fads!!
