Thank you very much for the bronze...muchly appreciated! And thanks for the comment as well...a lot of contest holders don't bother to leave one.

    So. Thank you.
  • silica : A bonny wee favour to savour… on May 1, 2007
Ye ugly, creepin, blastit wonner – detested, shunn’d, by saunt an’ sinner!

But enough about me… we are going to be in the UK in September and I was wondering, since you are in the trade, if you can recommend any two or three day tours that give at least the hint of the Scottish air… obviously it can’t be all – we aren’t (as you know) yanks, but my kiwi has an interest so… if you have an arrow that points in the right direction I would be very grateful!

  • Mairi bheag : Braw! on January 14, 2007
Ma wee mannie... a guid page. Here's anither proverb for ye:

"It's a guid world, but they're ill that's in it"

(Creation is perfect, people are the problem)

  • silica on March 4, 2006

Och! I fear it’ll get to ye first,
For by zillions of people ye are curse,
    But I’ll save ‘e a barn,
    Doon by ma wee tarn,
Yea can come round the world if ‘e durst!¡

But then you’d have to loch before ye leap¿?
  • Keith on March 4, 2006
Bird flu's on the way! Oh how scudgie!
So I'm knitting a scarf for the budgie,
    And as for myself
    I'm protecting my healf
By locking myself in the cludgie.
  • silica on March 3, 2006

Flying and flies make you sick…
And bird flu too does the trick!
    So is it the syllable¿?
    That causes the dribleable
    Or coincidences coming on thick!

  • Keith on March 3, 2006
Said a bird, "I have flown here today,
And I flew in the usual way,
    But the humans, I see,
    Steer well clear of me,
Is it flu makes them grue, would you say?"
  • silica on March 3, 2006

Hey, I doubt you could ever deplete,
    The topics for limericks neat¡!
    For from Forfar to Seattle,
    And smut to sex battle
    There’s zillions left to compete¡!

  • Mad-Hatter on February 21, 2006
Some advice to you if I may:
If we write three limericks a day,
    I'm sure you can see
    the same thing as me:
We'll run out of things to say!
  • Keith on February 21, 2006
    I don't think you're foolish at all,
    For limericks never will pall,
    For, try as I might,
    I continue to write,
Many more (some belong on a wall)

And it's fine to compose them in threes,
For the rhyme and the rhythm's a tease,
    With a syllable short,
They can still make you snort
With loud laughter you splutter and wheeze.

So here let me offer a toast,
To the form that I enjoy the most,
    I hope you'll write more,
    And that many will roar,
With loud laughter (your cheque's in the post)
  • Mad-Hatter on February 20, 2006
A limerick you wrote to me,
How happy it was to see!
So I'll return you the favor,
    For that limerick I savor,
You gave me one, I'll give you THREE!

Three limericks for you to read,
    Although there was no need!
    Enjoy what I wrote!
    And on a happier note:
It was unnecessary, we both agree!

    I've upheld my threefold rule:
Done to me, be it good or cruel,
    I'll do back threefold,
    Be it silver or gold,
(You MUST think I'm a fool!)

As the last limerick says: I've upheld my threefold rule, and so I hope you've enjoyed what I wrote!
  • The CheshireKat on January 18, 2006
i could very well have spelled it wrong- i was going from memory after all... in fact it was rather remarkable that i remembered his name at all. but "Hoban" stuck with me.

Dear Keith, thanks for your lovely villanelle. I'm returning it because someone got author confusion.

Keith (im) made a comment on The Waves (villanelle) (reply):
'I must go down to the sea again

All life began within the sea,
    In tiny protoplasmic form,
So that is where we long to be.

I hear the ocean call to me,
Feel the embrace of water, warm,
All life began within the sea.

The sound of water makes us free
The gentle surge, the roaring storm,
So that is where we long to be.

    But evolution pays a fee,
And many swimmers come to harm
Though life began within the sea.

We've lost the way to breathe, the key,
To life in water, rough or calm
Though that is where we long to be.

Deep in the ocean dark to flee,
    Surrounded by its soothing balm.
All life began within the sea,
So that is where we long to be...

I just thought I’d ask – “Before four - some tea for far Forfar¿?”
  • Sandygram on June 25, 2005
Thank you again for the smiles from your author's page
  • Keith on June 25, 2005
Though mace makes the eyelids to smart
Lemon balm brings a calm to the heart,
    (And also the bladder)
    Though give me Rose Madder
It's helped me progress with my Art.

Nice to have you back !

  • silica on June 25, 2005
    Och I codna recommend mace,
It’s far too much in your face,
    But nutmeg is dandy,
    And sassafrass if it’s handy,
Or perhaps a wee dram – just to brace!

  • Keith on June 25, 2005
No problem, hen, drop in again. A single smile means more than a thousand tears. Take care.
  • Sandygram on June 24, 2005
I stopped by you author's page to say hi and the comments on here really have me smiling, it was such a pleasure. Thanks for sharing. God Bless . Take care, Sandy
  • Keith on June 20, 2005
I love lovage on porage, and mint
I've tried chilli but skin became skint!
    And with palate aflame
    I'd forgotten my name
    -Wait, it's Caretaker Willi, now i'n't ?

Thanks for spicing up my author page ! Let's hear it for nutmeg and mace !
    Edited on Jun 20, 2:13 p.m. because 'apostrophising ?'.
  • silica on June 20, 2005
Well… ye ken sage and porridge is odd…
Ye cud try cinnamon or vanilla pod,
    Or maybe mixed spice,
    Would be rather nice…
But dinna use the chilli by God!
  • Keith on June 20, 2005
Herbie? I'll stand up for sorrel -
Though with sage I've no hint of a quarrel.
    As for basil and borage,
    I'd raither hiv porridge,
And how's aboot that for a moral?

  • silica on June 19, 2005
The borage by frost was well scared,
And the dill too was much marred,
    The sage, mint and chive,
    Barely survive…
I guess it just proves thymes are hard!

#1 for – ‘Ridiculously far out on a Weak Limerick’

  • silica on May 17, 2005
In Skootland a fella cauld Keith,
Cart poetry tween his sharp teeth,
    He chewed on the bone,
    All t’way home,
Till for muttering met Leith Police…

The photograph on your web page bears a sharp resemblance to caretaker Willy ot of the Simpsons, wad he be a relative at all?
