hugh wyles on January 15, 2006Dear Heath,
Welcome to the Kiwi Poets' Corner. I'm so pleased that Sally persuaded you to join and I hope you will be encouraged to write more often yourself.
I'm also thrilled that Sally has changed her AP name to Hinemoa who is one of my favourite legendary heroines.
Regards, also from Edna and Fluffy. -

SusanL on January 28, 2005How great this man? A river bears his name.
No humble country brook of no regard.
What great or noble deed brought him such fame?
How great this man? A river bears his name.
Now poetry well written he can claim.
New Zealand’s latest. Soon they’ll call him Bard.
How great this man? A river bears his name.
No humble country brook of no regard.

iamfromabove on January 18, 2005Just dropped in to say Gday. Nice to see neighbours are on here.Looks like we are in for some real big laughs between you and Hugh. Was just thinking your name reminds me so much of Heathcliff out of Wuthering Heights. Hope you meet lots of nice people on here like I have.

Heathcote on January 1, 2005Dear Leanne,
Thankyou for your welcome. I envy you being able to recite Gray's Elegy by heart. We had to memorize Macaulay's "Lays of Ancient Rome" but, fortunately, they let us off with only the stanzas dealing with Horatius which was enough. I find, at 70, that I can stumble through most of it but odd words keep escaping me.
I appreciate your writing. Thankyou.
Sincerely, Heathcote. -
Hinemoa on December 30, 2004hmmmm, more handsome than Hugh
you must be very handsome then. Sally -
leannewales on December 30, 2004hi and welcome to AP...I couldn't help noticing you have Greys Elegy as your favourite poem...this brought a smile and a memory to me...I had to learn and recite the whole thing for a special event in school (many many moons ago!) to this day I can remember it all!...it was drummed into me so well
...I hope you enjoy your experiences here...leanne xxx -

Heathcote on December 30, 2004Thankyou for your welcome. In my vanity, I think I am better looking than Hugh but I don't have his flair for writing sonnets or history, being of a more lighthearted nature.
May I hope that you will enter my contest?
Sincerely, Heathcote. -

hugh wyles on December 30, 2004Dear Heathcote,
I promised Mariza GG that I would run this contest but it seemed a good idea for you to do it to celebrate your decision (finally) to join AP and your acceptance into the 'family'.
I hope you will enjoy your membership as much as I enjoy mine and that you will get to meet some of the wonderful people that I am proud to call my friends. I have put you on my favourites' list and hope you will honour me in the same way.
I take this opportunity to welcome you warmly and thank you for your decision to join. Many happy AP years.
Love, Hugh.
