I just read your page. You seem like a very intelegent person who is firm in what she believes and doesen't believe. I have also seen this in the group.
-
you need to update your material, bill clinton's been out of office for years... you remember when he left office, we had peace and prosperity, respect internationally, a budget surplus, an effective and well prepared military, does any of that ring a bell?
-
Elrenia, you have been blessed to receive such a mind open to God. May you receive Him and He you beyond time.
-
Just saying "hi", and that I greatly appreciated your personal statement at the top of your page. You've echoed many of my own thoughts near to exact.
-
I just read yoru page and I really like who you are as a person. You are wise and fun to debate with. Can we be friends on AP?
*by the way, I noticed that you arn't thrilled with those of us who can't spell, sorry taht my typing skills are so bad, my spelling is fine, I just can't type when I am thinking about what I am saying not about my typing skills, I get dislexic. Sorry if taht annoys you*

You are definitely entitled to your beliefs. I will say that I believe they are wrong, but I am not going to argue with you about it. If you are as stanch in your faith as I am in mine, it will do little good. Each of us must find our way to eternity. The only way to know who is right, and who is wrong, is when this life is over. I cannot think of one person who has ever returned to tell about it.
Oh, and there are those who bash for the fun of it. You may not have met them yet. I understand about generalizing and lumping everyone into one group. I carry the name Christian, but I am not prone to the ranting against other faiths that some enjoy. Like I said, ask me and I will tell you what I believe, otherwise, I have to live with people and religion is a hot topic that quickly decays a relationship.
As for teenagers, it is quite possible that they forget that we were once teenagers. Some things change, but most do not. I am not sure you can tell me much that is different than when I was a teen. What I do not like is teens telling me I have no clue. I am neither blind nor stupid; I see what goes on in the world. I also am experienced enough to guide my kids from a lot of the evils out there, should they heed my advice. Sometimes they do, sometimes they do not. And, I reserve the right to tell them "I told you this would happen" when they do fall on their faces. However, I pick them back up, brush away the tears and blood and gently shove them back out into the world. It is all I can do. I have noticed that when my eldest two returned home from that harsh world, it was with a much different attitude; and having kids of their own had also changed their outlook on how they were raised. So, if you think I am too harsh, that is because life is not easy for adults; and it is much harsher for teens who think they are ready for it, and are not. (And, I am not making generalizations here; some are ready for it. Most are not.)

Elrenia : Thank you to Trapped Phoenix on July 30, 2007
Ah, but I do not bash those who choose to believe as they do. And I do know some who bash for fun.
I do think highly of teenagers; those who have learned mutual respect and can comport themselves as maturely as most adults should. I do not like interacting with children who behave like children. I will listen to what they say, but when it spills into arguing things that I have experience in and they most likely do not, then I am past listening. Anyone who delivers well-thought out intelligent and educated comments is welcome. Ranting and using text-writing to make a point is less than interesting to me and I will move on.
I happen to have had two teenage girls and have two teenage boys. I do treat what they say with respect, when they show me respect. But first, they must earn that respect; and that comes from courtesy from me, and listening from them.
And, if you are referring to the recent forum "discussion", I can only say that the party and I differ, but at least it looks like we can converse civilly afterwards.
-
I am an Atheist, but I'm also not a Christian-basher. The only time I will ever insult a belief is in defense of my own - when someone says mine is not right, I return the favor. I don't know of any people who bash any certain religion just because they hate it. Many of us are just tired of being insulted by "devout Christians" who try to force their belief on other people. And so sometimes we are forced to generalize: "If the past 50 people have looked down upon us because we are Atheist/Wiccan/Whatever, then chances are the next one (whether it be you or anyone else) will too." Not a single person I know bashes for the fun of it, or to start a fight. Whether it seems like to you that they do because it's brought onto you randomly, oftentimes there is a history behind it.
It also seems that you don't think too highly of teenagers. People think that a teenager's life is so easy, and I'm not talking about cliche things like raging hormones or dating or anything like that. I'm not going to say how old I am, but a lot of times, it's the adults that just cast aside the views of the younger because they are said to be ignorant and inexperienced. But, many times, it's the opposite. Many teenagers modernly are very bright and experienced at many things that adults are not, but they are not listened to simply because of how old they are. Many times it is the parent who is ignorant, and blind as well.

you make a great representive for God, very sad the guy can't get off his own lazy ... yet he's the one that made the universe! [[taking christian perspective]] and the whole crusades idea ... i'll have to clear things up for you on that one.

I too am a Christian and know that God made ALL things that live and breathe on this Earth. I accept the ALL that God created and judge not. I love Wiccans, Atheists, Agnostics, Hindu...all the same. I am the Christian that most in my faith would shun because I embrace everyone never needing to know their faith. I pray for All, seek their understanding of life in hopes that no matter our differences we can become united in LOVE. Had to come here because I wanted to thank you for your comment on my poem. I too have had my grievances with this site but I must confess openly, and with ail honesty...AllPoetry is the best poetry website on the Internet because even though we may have our indifference with site policy and operations, (as shown by what is written on your author page) WE still have the freedom to speak our minds. Have a blessed day, and again THANK YOU for your comments on my writing.
Much LOVE ♥

FaeRae : Agree to Disagree (Civally) on April 12, 2007
I just popped in to drop a note after I read your profile because you provoked some thoughts. We are such very different people; I am spiritual but not religious and I am also a member of PETA. Animals are sort of my passion as well as my profession. I've heard the "People Eating Tasty Animals" bit before and it doesn't offend me at all. I'd rather have them say that than wear fur. But that's a different subject . . . I just wanted to say that for all our differences you are completely correct that Christians have been totally left out of the "PC" movement. I find it astoundingly hypocrital of the left (of which I count myself a member) that "they" allow and even encourage Christian Bashing. Particularlly around the second Tuesday of November. Ever notice that? I also do not like the way the left uses fear-tactics and extreme case-scenarios with the help of mainstream media to manipulate non-Christians into believing all sorts of stuff and nonsense about them. As a person and an individual I would not have my beliefs so brutally distorted and I would extend the same curtoesy to others. Forgive my spelling; I know I am atrocious. I have read some of your poetry and I believe that you were honest in your profile; you do not "bash" others, you encourage discourse and your poems are inspirational. Your poetry is also beautifully written and you are very talented! I hope to someday be so talented. But what I really wanted to say was that I wish there were more people like you in this world. If, in a world full of different theologies, cultures, ethnicities, etc., we had a forum for rational debate - imagine what we could accomplish as humans! Please keep posting your beautiful words and never lose your open-mindedness. And also know that we here on the left (though most will deny it) are FULLY aware of our hypocrosy when it comes to Christianity.
Blessed Be,
FaeRae

I love your poetry . I just read your page (my, that is long!) and I must say that you could be one of the most level-headed people I've ever seen/met. I don't know if you've ever heard of Shirley Phelps-Roper but. . . she really gives Christians a terrible name. I myself am Buddhist and I'm glad to see that there are Christians who follow the basic principles of their religion out there . Jesus is definitely cool in my books, I just gt a little miffed by the Church itself sometimes.
I was glad to see that you have trophies . You deserve them. You're a wonderful writer and a great contribution to this site.
~Have a good day

Atheist: someone who knows that God exists, but chooses to refute the fact.
Wrong. An atheist is someone who believes absolutely that God cannot exist, that the idea is denied by another theory.
Agnostic: wishy-washy atheist. Denies a belief in God, but hedges their bets.
Oho - wrong again. Not a wishy-washy atheist. Someone who is undecided as to whether God exists or not.
You say at the beginning of your author page that you do not want to be thought of as ignorant just because you believe things other people don't. But you imply your own ignorance with statements like this, especially when you call them 'wisdom', questionable or not.

VariousSingularity,
Thank you stopping by. I am not sure how you arrived here, but you are welcome.
About the Deep Thoughts: Those are not my words. It was an interview with Billy Graham's daughter. Yes, the world has suffered since the fall of man, but that does not mean that there is no joy in the world. You get out of this life what you put into it. I feel that the condition of our world is due to lack of conviction in God. As stated, when we took morals and rules out of our daily living, we opened doors to what we have today. Suffering the woes of nature, floods, hurricanes and forest fires is part of living. You choose to live in places that are prone to natural disasters, then you will suffer more. That is just the laws of nature. However, the condition of our schools and society as a whole are a direct response to lack of morals. There is nothing to deter anyone. If a kid does something in school, he is slapped on the wrist. Unless, of course, you live in Florida, are a kindergarten student and pretend you chicken nugget is a gun; then you are expelled for violence. And yet, kids are bullied to the point of violence, and something is done only after the fact.
Yes, the world has always been cruel, but we have compounded the cruelty by allowing a whole generation of kids to fall down a slippery slope of demoralization. No discipline, no church, no God, no morals, not guidelines. This is the legacy that we give. Not much to be proud of, huh?
However, you can garner much joy in this life. You can teach your kids the right ways and hope that they are strong enough to avoid the world. You can enjoy what you have without wanting everything. You can also reach out and help others. No, there is much joy, if one chooses to embrace what is offered. So, go out, spread the joy and pull some close to you.
God bless,
rous

Hello. So I read your page, but have yet to read any of your poetry. Your page is the only page I've ever read on here that dealt in what seems to me genuine honesty, and it would also seem many people dislike your honesty. I personally think honesty is the greatest of all couragous endeavors, only because it seems to have the harshest consequences. But that's not why I'm commenting...Your 'Deep Thought' section implies that this generation is the only one suffering bad times. But hasn't the world been suffering since the creation of mankind? I mean, the world is pretty much a tragic play in which there are occasional bouts of joy. I still agree that our loss of God has helped create an apathetic world, but wouldn't say it's why students 'shoot-up' their schools and such...But I guess that's just a long drawn out conversation waiting to happen...I particularly enjoyed your section concerning the bad poets on here who cannot take criticism (Although I'm not too great a critic...). I'll be sure to give some of your poems (possibly all of them) a read when I have the appropriate amount of time. I guess the entire purpose of this drawn-out, rambling comment is me telling you I greatly appreciate your honest, although none of that honesty has been directed at me. Very profound, if not outright audacious, statements you've made here.
-
I hope it is as beneficial to you as it has been to me. Welcome.

Oh, yes. However, it seems that the hot iron will always attract a number of those who just do not feel the heat until far too late. I have a son who seems to run smack into the iron everytime he turns around. He is not stupid, by any means, just does not learn. Multiply that by several hundred thousand, and, well, there you are. While I am definately not in favour of eliminating the socially feeble, there are limits to what you can do to prevent them from harming themselves. Like kids, they eventually go around all the safeguards. I fear for the future.
Well, that was a bit heavy. Thanks, again.
-
lol I guess we all have to reach a certain point where we no longer stick our fingers on a hot iron to see if it is hot, but some just don't learn easily. Selective breeding? Yes, that's what my husband thinks, too, that we are already doomed. lol At any rate, it's interesting to hear the thoughts of other "wise owls."
-
Thank you for visiting. Hmmm...wisdom years. I would think that would be any age where you have learned from your mistakes and grown enough to participate in life without repeating them. In some ways, most of us are there, and in others, none of us will ever be there. Those who do not learn are doomed to repeat the same things over and over, ad infinitum. They are the ones we protect from themselves. Otherwise, selective breeding would solve the problem for us. Oh, well, civilisation is doomed. LOL
-
I've read nearly everything on your page, and I was just wondering about your age. You have put "adult," but nothing more. Whatever your age, you seem very wise. Your words make more sense than many who claim to be in their wisdom years. I often wonder what the "wisdom years" really are.
I enjoyed your page very much. Thank you for being upfront and honest about your beliefs and showing your true self without reservation. Patricia

Christian, but that was not the issue. Someone took offence for a comment I made and stated it was not true. It was, but you know about squeaky wheels. And, I was not given the opportunity to explain my side. So much for equality and fairness. Children should be more closely monitored. And, I am not referring to chronological age. Some people just never grow up. I have learned to save my pages and IMs so that when anyone cares to listen to my side, I have the information to back up my point. Not that I am holding my breath.
-
thats stupid. anyway. are you christian? Agnostic? Atheist??
-
Well, shiny blue, I would tell you, but then I would have the mods after me again. Suffice it to say that someone whined about something and I got erased, almost all of my page and their comments as well. Ah, life is not fair, why should this site be? Anyway, I have moved on and it is their loss. I just hope that they gained something more than how to complain.
-
what did you write that was so offensive on your page? You seem like a person who is pretty fun to diguss things with. I read your comments on The Lord's Servant or I Grovel 4 Jesus...whatever I was impressed you got him in a trap. lol...he just made that site to make fun of christians...like me...but yeah...I still read him because well...it's a little entertaining

Dr,
Yeah, the page looks a bit anemic, no? And, it is not that I said anything untrue, it is that one person did not like the truth. So, we all suffer because of one person's insecurity. That is the way of the world. We ammend the limits for intelligence and tolerance to the least common denominator. In this case, so some one's feelings do not get hurt. What about mine? The guy is still wrong, I am right, and he wins. Sounds like a third world government. LOL Well, I am slowly building the page back up. I will just be more circumvent in how I say things. But, I will still say them.
Thank you for stopping by. I am surprised you even recognized the page.

Can i just say after reading your page
WHAT THE SWEET JEZUZ-NIPPLES HAPPENED TO FREE SPEACH!!!
i mean sh!t even that has rules wich defeats the damn point of "free" if it isnt truely "free" yes?
and surely on a site such as this free speech should be allowed to be just that. I get so annoyed when people assume they are great at something because all they hear is praise but how are we to improve (and we always can) without CONSTRUCTIVE critisism
rant over
you have my full support rous

Well, thank you. I do know how to use it, and it was used correctly, it is just that some here think that only their voices are allowed to be heard. Seems if they do not like what you have to say, albeit true, then it must come down. Hence the name. Everyone is allowed a voice, it is just that not everyone can use their ears.
-
You ARE allowed a voice, everyone on this Earth is... just many do not know how to use theirs.
Always believe...

Thank you. I will survive. However, I am concerned for those with little ability to fend off the "bad people who make comments about me". LOL When they grow up, they can come back. Meanwhile, I am off to bigger and better. Thank you for stopping by.
