Thanks! I feel like I actually have a chance now! Yeah, your going through what I went through with him except hes 17 and im 14, but its still the same. He liked me for me, and I trusted him and still do. No one thought we should go out except my friend Kwon and Shelby. We were together for about 6 weeks. Then he was supposed to leave for PA and he didn't want to get too "attached" and...well you don't want to hear about that...Well, I hope it all works out between you and your boyfriend!!

Your name reminded me of some lyrics:

    [Talib Kweli] (+ Background Vocals)
Teenage lovers sit on the stoops up in Harlem
Holdin' hands under the Apollo marquis dreamin of stardom
Since they was born the streets is watchin' and schemin'
And now it got them generations facin' deseases
That don't kill you they just got problems
and complications that get you first
Yo, it's getting worse, when children hide the fact that they pregnant
Cuz they scared of giving birth
How will I feed this baby?
How will I survive, how will this baby shine?
Daddy dead from crack in '85, mommy dead from AIDS in '89
At 14 the baby hit the same streets they became her master
The children of the enslaved, they grow a little faster
    They bodies become adult
While they keepin' the thoughts of a child her arrival
Into womanhood was heemed up by her survival
Now she 25, barely grown out her own
Doin' whatever it takes strippin', workin' out on the block
Up on the phone, talkin' about
(my skin is tan like the front of your hand)
    (And my hair...)
(Well my hair's alright whatever way I want to fix it,
    it's alright it's fine)
(But my hips, these sweet hips of mine invite you daddy)
(And when I fix my lips my mouth is like wine)
(Take a sip don't be shy, tonight I wanna be your lady)
(I ain't too good for your Mercedes, but first you got to pay me)
(You better quit with all the question, sugar who's little girl am I)
(Why I'm yours if you got enough money to buy)
(You better stop with the compliments we running out of time,)
(You wanna talk whatever we could do that it's your dime)
(From Harlem's from where I came, don't worry about my name,)
(Up on one-two-five they call me Sweet Thang)

from Talib Kweli's "For Women" which was inspired by Nina Simone's "Four Women"
  • Kurtis and Trista on October 11, 2004

  • My Lestat on October 4, 2004
I am so upheld by your contest and I feel very strong about your words because who said love was age? ya know I am having the same problems as you right now only my boyfriend is 18 and I ma 15 we have been through a lot but it is mainly because ourselves but it is still amazing how we have managed this long together we have been together 1 and about 3 in a half weeks now and we are still holding srtong even though we can't talk or see each other but only write letters we still keeep it going everyday and we love each so that is what really holds a relationship together I miss him yes but there is so much to our "Love Story"(which is waht my poem is based on)that we could make a movie about but most of all most of the school knows who we are and that we are goign out so actually they also help keep us together and my peers always say that they can't wait until me and Dub get married because then we won't have to suffer anymore pain.......thanks for hearing me out and you keep on beleiving in yourself and each other and you guys will deginetly make it through! Love ya girl be strong!

Definately gonna add you (right after I re download AOL, crashed my pc and am slowly putting my life back together lol)
  • Daring2Dream18 on October 3, 2004
I'm sorry you got upset. Evil exists because God gave people a choice of wrong and right. He wants us to choose to love Him. What kind of loving God would force what he created to obey Him(make them slaves?) Keep talking to me, but I have to go get my dog at the kennel because it's fixing to close. I definately want to talk with you more about this!!! and I am reading for any question you might have, and thanks for being honest with me! If you have AOL, my screen name is WildMustang12 talk to you soon I hope.
  • pixeh on October 3, 2004
*takes a deep breath* Ok I think I'm calmed down, it really angered me when you abruptly said there was only one god. I think that's very closeminded of you, but I suppose that is what your faith tells you.

After talking to my Jewish friend (here on refered to as Josh) he clarifies that God changed through the testaments and became a different god. He now asks if god is all powerful why does evil exist? if its for balance why is balance needed? if god is so powerful he could be both balance and unbalance. I'm sure he'll have more to say after he gets his philosophy of religion book out.

I have a question for you. What is the meaning of Life to you?? What do you think will happen when you die? why do you think people are here?
  • Daring2Dream18 on October 3, 2004
Lots of thoughts. first, I said: "every word is in the Bible because God wanted it to be in there." Not meaning to imply that he wanted everything to happen that way. Also- God does not like it when people sin,(murder, lie, disobey) But He uses the bad things that happen for Good things. because we sin we have consequences for them. (if you have sex outside of marriage you might get an unwanted pregnancy) God doesn't want either of those things to happen. But if you choose to do that and you get pregnant God may take that baby to do wonderful things for Him, maybe become a missionary. You never know. Sometimes we won't know why God allowed things to happen. Some things are unanswerable. like when The Second Coming will be. And one last thing, Your Jewish friend is wrong. There is ONE God, period. The God in the old testiment may appear to be vengeful but He hasn't change, and He will never change. The reason that it looks that it could possibly be two different personalities is that in the New Testiment Jesus was born, He died, and He was ressurected- Paying for all of our sins as the perfect sacrifice. In the Old Testiment people had to do things differently because Jesus had not come yet. If they didn't do things the way God had designed them for they had to repent, if they didn't God had to punish them because there wasn't redemption for sins yet
  • pixeh on October 3, 2004
Well you basically said everything happens for a reason, at least that's what I got out of it. And that reason is that God wanted it to happen. Murder is something that happens for individual human reasons, but it still happens. Does God's plan include murders?
Also about Noah... After talking to my Jewish friend (yeah I think I'm one of the only christians in my social group lol)he explained that the god in the old testament and the god in the new testament are different. They have different personalities. The god in the old testament is pretty vengeful, while the god in the new is compassionate. Both gods pertain to a different religion, the first in the old testament is a jewish god, while the second in the new testament is a christian god. Any thoughts?

  • Daring2Dream18 on October 3, 2004
Well you may not agree. I cannot force you. Here is my answer to your wonderings. God sent a flood to wipe out almost everyone because they completely turned their backs on Him. Noah and his family were the only ones being true to God. God gave the people many chances and many years to repent but they chose not too. And also, If God created man do you not think he has the right to kill them? God is Just, HE judges accordingly. He gave us a choice to love Him and accept Him or not, he will not force us. But the people he wiped out in the flood were already spiritually dead, they had no reason to live, only to become more corrupt. And I don't think I ever said anything about it being God's plan for us to murder? not trying to be rude, but can you clarify what you are talking about?
  • pixeh on October 3, 2004
Well I guess that's your personal faith. Perhaps I'm a bit more.. concrete and logical (no offense) but its really not in me to blindly believe like you do. I tend to view the bible more as a piece of literature, fiction or not i can't tell. To me its just a story, I don't know if I believe it happened or not. My boyfriend, a wiccan, and I were having a debate about this a few weeks ago and he mentioned the hypocrisy of our god. Oddly enough it seems rather true. God tells us not to kill, but then sends a big flood to kill everyone? and by your theory, our killing our brothers and sisters is meant to happen, part of god's divine plan. just some thoughts i've had building up, needing some christian imput on them. You seem pretty well learned in scripture, prehaps you can clarify some of these things.

Actually, Paul put that in a letter he sent to Timothy. God used people to write(use ink and paper, etc.) the Bible for Him, but every word in the Bible is there because God wanted it to be. The Bible is God's love-letter to us. It is our guide to life.
  • pixeh on October 3, 2004
Yes, but Timothy wrote that. It wasn't god directly. There is no "Gospel according to Jesus" or Book of Jesus or God.
  • Daring2Dream18 on October 3, 2004
    2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is Godbreathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
  • pixeh on October 3, 2004
God didn't write the bible, his followers did, it was later translated by King James into english. James thought he was put on earth to rule and altered the bible a bit to suit his own needs. The King James version is still what many use today.

P.S. I'm christian (catholic in fact) but i'm not overly religious, just a history freak lol

Thank you for your comments and I think your work is pretty cool 2!
  • Daring2Dream18 on March 18, 2004
If you don't mind my asking, What religion are you? and Who exactly wrote the Bible if God didn't?
  • beckiki on March 18, 2004
oh give me a frickin break... ohh comformist christians...
  • Daring2Dream18 on March 18, 2004
You know what? I had no idea you left that comment on my page but it is totally uncalled for. and God did write the Bible thank you very much. that's why it's called God's Word. I am a real Christian and that's how I know that. God did not take a pencil and paper and write the words himself. But He inspired people to write it and He gave them the words to use when they wrote it.
Also: I really don't like you calling me a bitch when you don't know hardly anything about me. That really rude and I don't appreciate it. So please don't do that again, there isn't a reason for it.
  • beckiki on February 25, 2004
if you were a real christian than you would know that
  • beckiki on February 25, 2004
